Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Calhoun County

Calhoun County, MI

Historic Urbandale on the city's north side has the oldest housing stock — 1880s Victorians and early Craftsman homes with steep original staircases and narrow treads that families want preserved. Post Addition and Washington Heights have the 1910s–1930s two-stories that are Battle Creek's most common stairlift market — straight runs we complete in an afternoon. The Fremont neighborhood runs post-war bungalows and ranches from the 1940s–1960s with straight staircases and homeowners who have lived there for decades. Springfield, immediately north, is part of our standard service area with no travel surcharge. We also cover Brownlee Park, Level Park-Oak Park, and the rural communities south on US-131 toward Climax and Augusta.

1924 Post Addition two-story — straight rail on original fir treads

Post Addition, MI Installed March 2026

A 1924 two-story in the Post Addition neighborhood with original fir treads and a simple 14-step straight run from the entry hall to the second-floor bedrooms. Mrs. Patterson had been avoiding the upstairs bathroom for months when her daughter in Indianapolis arranged the consultation. We matched the rail finish to the natural fir grain, mounted the chair so it parks flush against the wall at the bottom, and had Mrs. Patterson back in her own bedroom by late afternoon.

90° landing turn in a Springfield split-level — VA HISA grant funded

Springfield, MI Installed February 2026

A 1967 split-level in Springfield with a 90-degree turn at the mid-landing. Mr. Decker is a retired Air National Guard veteran who had been told by another company he'd need two separate lifts. We digitally scanned the staircase, fabricated a single curved rail that bends around the half-wall at the upper landing, and processed the VA HISA grant through the Battle Creek VA Medical Center. The seat parks at the top floor hallway so Mr. Decker steps off onto level ground. Total grant coverage: $6,800 — he paid nothing out of pocket.

Fremont bungalow — compact straight rail near the hallway sideboard

Fremont, MI Installed January 2026

A 1949 post-war bungalow in the Fremont neighborhood with stone-tile treads and a compact staircase next to a wooden sideboard and potted plant in the downstairs hallway. Mrs. Garcia's main concern was fitting the lift in a tight traditional space without losing access to the furniture she'd had there for decades. We mounted the seat at the bottom landing beside the cabinet, used a folding footrest to keep the walkway clear, and matched the brown upholstery to the cottage-style interior. The lift fits the cozy space as though it was always part of the house.

Washington Heights raised porch — outdoor rail on stone-paved entry steps

Washington Heights, MI Installed December 2025

A 1935 two-story in Washington Heights with a raised front porch and rough natural stone paving at the entry. Mr. Williams uses a rollator and had been entering through the garage for two years because the stone porch steps were no longer safe. We installed a weather-resistant cream-colored seat on an outdoor rail anchored into the existing stone, with IP55-sealed motor housing and cold-pack batteries rated to -30°F. The lift runs from the stone-paved sidewalk level up to the covered porch and front door, sealed against Calhoun County's annual 45–55 inches of snowfall.

Post Addition carpeted stairs — swivel-exit seat for safer landing

Post Addition, MI Installed November 2025

A post-war home in Post Addition with 13 carpeted treads and a brown-upholstered seat that blends with the carpet tones. Mrs. Thompson had slipped twice at the top landing in the previous year. We installed longer mounting bolts that penetrate through the carpet and pad into the plywood substrate, and added a swivel-exit seat so she steps off onto the hallway tile floor at the landing instead of balancing on the top carpeted step. The seat color matches the brown carpet so closely that visitors walk past without noticing it.

Platform Lift

Historic Urbandale Victorian — inclined wheelchair platform for full-time chair user

Historic Urbandale, MI Installed October 2025

An 1897 Victorian in Historic Urbandale where Mr. Robinson uses a wheelchair full-time and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway — a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges and a white handrail. The platform folds up against the wall when not in use so the family can walk the stairs freely. Mr. Robinson rolls onto the platform, locks the wheels, and rides between floors independently for the first time since his injury.

Common Questions

Everything Battle Creek Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Battle Creek right now?

Straight rails in standard Battle Creek homes run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails — needed for split-levels or staircases with a turn — run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is fabricated to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for porch entries and exterior staircases run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit. VA HISA grants and MI Choice funding can significantly reduce or eliminate the out-of-pocket cost.

What's the real cost after VA or Medicaid funding?

For veterans with a service-connected disability, the VA HISA grant covers up to $6,800 — which fully pays for a straight rail and reduces a curved rail to $1,000–$7,000 out of pocket. For MI Choice Medicaid recipients, the home modification cap of roughly $6,000 per plan year is stackable across years with approval. Combining HISA + IRS medical deduction brings the effective cost down further. We run the grant math for every Battle Creek family before presenting the quote.

Is the price higher because Battle Creek is a smaller market?

No. Equipment prices are the same as in Grand Rapids or Detroit. What varies is labor for unusual installs — historic Urbandale homes with original millwork, split-levels with complex geometry, or outdoor installs that require cold-weather hardware. We list those line items separately in every written quote. No regional premiums, no rural surcharges.

Do you offer financing if the grants don't cover the full amount?

Yes — three lending partners with 0% APR for qualified buyers and low fixed-rate plans from $79/month. Application is a soft credit pull (no score impact), takes about 4 minutes, and approval is typically same-day. We commonly combine VA HISA + financing + the IRS medical deduction to bring the monthly payment to a number most families can manage comfortably. We show you the combined math at the free assessment.

A word from Luis

Battle Creek has a higher share of veterans than most Michigan cities its size — and the VA Medical Center here means we process more HISA grants out of Calhoun County than we do from many larger metros. If you served, the grant likely covers most of your cost. I prefill the VA Form 10-0103 and coordinate the prescription directly with your Battle Creek VA provider.

The rest of the job is straightforward: measure your stairs, quote in writing, install within a week. The only variable is whether it's a straight run or a split-level turn. Call us first — we explain the options before you commit to anything.
