Stairlift Service Across Jackson County

Jackson County, MI

We install across every Jackson neighborhood, and each one has its own stair geometry. Loomis Park Foursquares and the Under the Oaks historic blocks have steep, narrow 1900s runs with one quarter-turn at the top. Wildwood, a mile west of downtown, mixes Craftsman two-stories with bungalows from the 1900s-1920s — straight 14-foot rails are common. Cascades and Ella Sharp Park south of downtown are postwar split-levels with intermediate landings. Creglow Heights on the southwest end is all Cape Cods from the 1940s-50s with compact 11-foot runs. East Jackson stretches across older bungalows north of Michigan Avenue. Vandercook Lake just south carries lakefront cottages on rolling lots. West Avenue along the historic commercial spine has 1920s brick two-flats with original steep entry stairs.

Straight

Wildwood — straight rail on original oak treads

Wildwood, MI Installed February 2026

1912 Craftsman a mile west of downtown with the original oak treads. We bolted a 14-foot straight rail directly to the treads using stainless lag screws — no wall damage, no track on the spindles. Cream seat parks at the bottom landing, just inside the front hall. Luis matched the lag-screw spacing to the existing nail holes from a 1970s carpet runner.

Brown seat parks at the upper landing where the homeowner reads in the morning light.

Common Questions

Everything Jackson Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost in Jackson?

A straight rail in a Jackson home with a single 13- to 14-riser run starts at $2,800 installed. That includes the rail, seat, swivel, two key fobs, install labor, and same-day function check. Most Wildwood Craftsman and Cascades split-level installs come in between $2,800 and $3,400 depending on riser count.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more in Jackson's Foursquares?

Curved rails on the Loomis Park or Under the Oaks Foursquares are fabricated to your exact tread profile after a digital scan. The rail itself is custom — typical Jackson curved installs run $9,000 to $13,500 depending on the number of turns and intermediate landings.

Are there any hidden fees on a Jackson install?

No. Our quote includes rail, seat, install, any code-required electrical outlet, post-install training, and a one-year function check appointment. We do not charge separately for the stair measurement visit, removal and disposal of the old unit if you have one, or preparation of MI Choice Waiver paperwork for Jackson County.

Do you finance stairlifts for Jackson homeowners?

Yes — financing starts at $79/month with approved credit through our partner lender. Most Jackson County homeowners qualify with no down payment and same-week approval. We can also bill the MI Choice Waiver, VA HISA grant, or a private long-term-care insurance policy directly when you have applicable coverage.

A word from Luis

Jackson is a hand-built town. The Foursquares on the long blocks northeast of downtown — Loomis Park, Under the Oaks — were framed in the 1900s when stair codes were still optional. Most of those runs are 7.5-inch tread depth with a quarter-turn at the upper landing and a newel post the homeowner has been swinging around for forty years. The Wildwood Craftsmans west of downtown have tight 33-inch stair widths; the Cascades-area split-levels south of Ella Sharp Park are postwar with an intermediate landing at the garage entry. None of them measure square, and none of them require a permit to fit a rail.

What that means in practice: I take measurements off your actual tread nosings, not a spec sheet, and I quote a fixed price before I leave. For homes that see real freeze-thaw and the late-winter ice storms that roll through south-central Michigan every February, I seal every rail junction and recommend battery backup rated for eight-hour outages — which is what we lose in a bad February storm here. My quote is the final invoice. No change orders after the truck arrives, no surcharge for Jackson County travel.

— Luis Ramírez, Jackson
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Jackson homes were built for the Michigan Central rail crews and the Republican Party founders, not for anyone managing thirteen risers with a knee that does not bend. The good news: the same plaster-and-lath framing that makes Loomis Park and Wildwood worth keeping also gives us solid wood to anchor a rail to. The Foursquares, the Craftsmans, the Cascades split-levels — we have not yet met a Jackson staircase we could not fit with a straight or curved rail.

Call for a free in-home measurement. We bring a sample seat, a tape measure, and a fixed quote that does not change after we leave your kitchen table. Same-week scheduling is available across Jackson County — no trip charge for any Jackson address.
