Stairlift Service Across Shelby County

Shelby County, TN

From the 1960s brick ranches of Elmore Park — where the main staircase often leads to a basement den the homeowner hasn't reached since knee surgery — to the formal two-story colonials of Davies Manor, our team has installed across every Bartlett neighborhood. Stage Road Corridor homes commonly have the split-foyer layout where stairs go both directions from the mid-landing, often best served by two independent straight rails. Appling Farms and Brooks two-stories frequently feature open-tread staircases that require a different bracket than solid-tread stairs. Forest Hill's 1970s ranches add short interior basement runs. Every Shelby County staircase gets measured on-site before we quote.

Straight

Davies Manor colonial — straight rail matched to original oak banister

Davies Manor, TN Installed March 2026

A 1989 colonial in Davies Manor with a wide formal staircase and an oak banister the family had refinished twice. Mrs. Patterson's son called from Nashville after her knee replacement left her sleeping on the couch because the master bedroom was upstairs. We brought rail-finish samples, matched the color to the refinished oak, and bolted the track into the stair treads without touching the banister or the original newel post. The seat folds flat when not in use and the staircase reads as it always has.

Stage Road Corridor two-story — curved rail through 90° upper landing turn

Stage Road Corridor, TN Installed February 2026

A 1996 two-story in the Stage Road Corridor with a 90° turn at the upper landing that sends the top tread along the back hallway wall — a layout common in the Shelby County builder spec from that era. A straight rail could handle the lower flight but couldn't navigate the landing. We laser-scanned the full staircase on the first visit, fabricated a curved rail that clears the landing turn and parks the seat flush against the hallway wall, and installed in a single afternoon. Mr. Whitmore walks the full floor again.

Elmore Park ranch — compact straight rail beside vintage sideboard

Elmore Park, TN Installed January 2026

A 1968 Elmore Park brick ranch with a compact interior staircase, stone-tile treads, and a wooden sideboard at the bottom landing the family refused to move. The hallway is narrow — barely 36 inches — and the rail had to clear the sideboard and a potted plant without blocking foot traffic. We mounted the slim-profile straight rail tight to the wall side, leaving the sideboard exactly where it sat. Mr. Hawkins uses it twice a day to reach the upstairs bedroom, and his wife still passes on the open side without brushing the seat.

Appling Farms raised porch — weather-sealed outdoor rail from driveway to front door

Appling Farms, TN Installed December 2025

A 2003 Appling Farms two-story with a raised stone-paved front porch and seven exterior steps from the driveway to the front door. Mrs. Goodman's knees made the porch stairs the hardest part of leaving the house. We installed a weather-resistant cream-colored outdoor stairlift on the porch steps, sealed against Memphis-area humidity, with a weatherproof cover over the motor housing. The stone paving at the top landing gives her a flat, stable surface to step off onto before reaching the front door. She uses it every morning to get the mail without asking for help.

Brooks home — straight rail on carpeted stairs with matching upholstery

Brooks, TN Installed November 2025

A 2019 Brooks home with 13 carpeted treads and a landing halfway up where the staircase turns toward the upstairs hallway. Mr. Coleman chose the brown upholstery option — it blends into the carpet tones so well that visitors don't notice the lift until someone points it out. The brackets bolt through the carpet into the tread wood beneath, the carpet stays in place, and the landing gives him a flat rest point on the way up. Wall-mounted light switches stayed accessible on both sides of the rail.

Platform Lift

Forest Hill ranch — indoor wheelchair platform lift to basement level

Forest Hill, TN Installed October 2025

A Forest Hill brick ranch from 1972 with seven interior steps down to a finished basement. Mr. Aldridge uses a wheelchair after a spinal injury and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway — a flat anti-slip platform with high-visibility yellow safety edges and a white handrail that lets him roll on, ride down, and roll off without leaving his chair. The orange-toned walls of the stairwell stay untouched; the platform folds flat against the wall when not in use so Mrs. Aldridge walks the stairs normally.

Common Questions

Everything Bartlett Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Bartlett right now?

Straight rails in standard Bartlett homes — the Davies Manor colonials, Appling Farms two-stories, and Stage Road ranches — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for split-foyer layouts with a mid-landing or any staircase that changes direction, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit. No hidden labor charges.

Are prices in Bartlett different from Germantown or Memphis proper?

Equipment prices are the same across Shelby County. What occasionally varies is install labor for specific conditions: a split-foyer layout that needs two rails instead of one, or a Davies Manor staircase with custom millwork that requires extra care. We itemize everything in writing. No zip-code-based pricing.

How does Tennessee's heat and humidity affect the total cost of ownership?

It affects the spec, not the price. Memphis-area summers hit 97°F with 80% humidity — conditions that degrade standard stairlift lubricants and motor seals within 12-18 months. Every Bartlett install ships with the high-humidity lubricant spec and sealed motor housing as a baseline. Annual service visits (covered in most maintenance plans) catch any humidity-related wear before it becomes a repair. Factor in one service call per year; skip unexpected breakdowns in July.

Is a refurbished stairlift worth considering for a Shelby County home?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30-40% — we carry factory-reconditioned straight rails with new upholstery, fresh batteries, and a 2-year warranty. Important: in Memphis-area humidity, we only sell refurbished units with the high-humidity lubricant spec already installed. A refurbished unit with factory-original grease will fail its first Bartlett summer. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never viable since the rail is custom-fabricated.
