Stairlift Service Across Kitsap County

Kitsap County, WA

From the waterfront estates of Wing Point — where mid-century colonials and custom-built homes sit on wooded half-acre lots overlooking Eagle Harbor — to the cedar-and-glass cabins tucked into the forest along Rockaway Beach, our team has measured staircases in every corner of the island. Winslow's walkable village core mixes older Craftsman bungalows with newer townhomes near the ferry terminal. Rolling Bay's postwar ranches and daylight basements often have steep basement stairs original to their 1950s construction. Fort Ward's military-era cottages and converted officers' quarters feature narrow stairwells built for function, not comfort. Island Center's rural properties include two-story farmhouses with wide-tread staircases that take standard straight rails without modification. The salt air off Puget Sound accelerates corrosion on exposed hardware, so every outdoor install on Bainbridge gets marine-grade stainless fasteners and weather-sealed motor housings as standard.

1958 Rolling Bay ranch — straight rail on carpeted basement stairs

Rolling Bay, WA Installed March 2026

A 1958 ranch in Rolling Bay with a daylight basement and 14 carpeted treads leading down to the lower-level family room. Mr. Whitaker had been avoiding the basement workshop where he'd built furniture for 30 years because the steep descent aggravated his hip after replacement surgery at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. We laser-measured the straight run, confirmed the subfloor beneath the carpet could accept the mounting bolts, and installed the same week. The rail parks flush against the wall at the bottom. Mr. Whitaker was back in his workshop that evening.

1965 Wing Point colonial — curved rail through an L-shaped landing

Wing Point, WA Installed February 2026

A 1965 colonial in Wing Point with seven steps from the entry hall to a 90-degree landing, then eight more steps to the upper bedroom hallway. Mrs. Reynolds is a retired teacher who has lived in this house since 1982 and refused to consider moving off the island. We laser-scanned the full L-shaped run on the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries her from the entry to the upper hall without stopping, and installed a swivel-exit seat so she steps off onto carpet instead of balancing on the top tread. The mahogany banister was never touched.

Winslow townhome — slim-profile rail in a narrow stairwell near the ferry terminal

Winslow, WA Installed January 2026

A newer townhome two blocks from the Winslow ferry terminal with a narrow enclosed stairwell only 32 inches wide between drywall walls. Mrs. Nakamura commuted to Seattle for decades and chose this home for its walkability after retirement. We fitted the slim-profile rail that folds to just 11 inches from the wall, leaving 21 inches of clear passage for her husband and visiting grandchildren. The seat parks at the bottom landing out of the entryway sightline.

Rockaway Beach cabin — outdoor lift with marine-grade hardware on salt-exposed deck steps

Rockaway Beach, WA Installed December 2025

A cedar-and-glass cabin on Rockaway Beach with a raised deck and seven pressure-treated steps that face Eagle Harbor and take constant salt spray, rain, and moss accumulation. Mrs. Anderson slipped on a mossy bottom step last October and fractured her wrist. We installed the outdoor lift with 316 marine-grade stainless fasteners instead of standard zinc-plated, an IP55-sealed motor housing that keeps out rain and salt spray, and a fitted cover that sheds water and prevents moss growth on the seat. The battery backup runs the lift during the island's frequent winter power outages.

Fort Ward cottage — straight rail on steep narrow stairs in a converted military home

Fort Ward, WA Installed November 2025

A converted officers' cottage at Fort Ward with steep, narrow stairs original to its 1930s military construction — 30 inches wide with a 42-degree pitch. Mr. Hoffman is a retired Army veteran who served at Fort Lewis and settled on Bainbridge Island in 1998. The slim-profile rail fit the tight stairwell without compromising passage width. We anchored into the dense old-growth fir treads, which gave solid purchase despite their age. His VA provider at the Bremerton VA Clinic wrote the HISA prescription and the grant covered $6,800 of the cost.

Platform Lift

Island Center farmhouse — inclined wheelchair platform lift between floors

Island Center, WA Installed October 2025

A two-story farmhouse in the Island Center rural area where Mr. Sullivan uses a power wheelchair full-time after a service-connected spinal injury sustained during his Navy career at Bangor Base. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride his chair between floors. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway: a flat anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges on all thresholds, white handrails, and a keyed lockout so visiting grandchildren can't activate it unsupervised. The HISA grant covered the full $6,800 service-connected maximum, and the COPES Waiver covered the remaining balance through his DSHS Home and Community Services coordinator.

Common Questions

Everything Bainbridge Island Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost on Bainbridge Island?

Straight rails in standard island homes — the ranches in Rolling Bay, the townhomes in Winslow, the split-levels near Island Center — run $3,100 to $5,800 installed. Curved rails for landing turns in Wing Point colonials and Rockaway Beach multi-level cabins run $9,500 to $15,500 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised decks and porch steps run $4,200 to $7,800. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Do outdoor stairlifts cost more because of the salt air off Puget Sound?

No. Marine-grade stainless fasteners and sealed motor housings are baseline on every Bainbridge Island outdoor install — not an upcharge. The salt air off Eagle Harbor and Rich Passage accelerates corrosion on standard zinc-plated hardware within 18 months. We spec 316 stainless steel fasteners, IP55-sealed motor housings, and UV-stabilized upholstery rated for 2,000+ hours of Pacific Northwest weather exposure. These are standard on every island outdoor quote.

Is a stairlift cheaper than downsizing on Bainbridge Island?

Median home prices on Bainbridge Island exceed $900,000. Selling and buying — even downsizing to a smaller single-story — costs $55,000 to $90,000 in commissions, closing costs, and moving fees alone. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $3,100 to $5,800 and lets you stay in the home and neighborhood you've built your life around. For most island families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission.

Do you offer financing on Bainbridge Island?

Yes. We offer fixed-rate financing from $89 per month with no prepayment penalties. Most island homeowners choose 36- or 60-month terms. You can also combine financing with VA HISA grant funds or Washington COPES Waiver coverage to reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket cost. We walk you through every option during the free assessment.

A word from Luis

Bainbridge Island families usually call after a close call — a father gripping the handrail of a steep cedar staircase in a Rockaway Beach cabin, a mother who stopped going upstairs in her Wing Point colonial three months ago, a daughter on the Seattle side of the ferry who can't check on her parents every day and needs to know the stairs are handled.

I take the ferry or drive through Poulsbo and I'm at your door within 24 hours. One visit, one measurement, one written quote honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
