Straight Stairlift

The standard for Yuma's ranch homes — from Barkley Ranch split-entries to Foothills two-stories.

Over 65% of the stairlifts we install across Yuma County are straight rails. A single run bolted to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold flat, and the battery backup keeps you moving through monsoon-season power flickers. Every Yuma install gets high-temperature synthetic lubricant rated to 125°F and sealed gear housings to block desert dust. Most ranch and two-story installs wrap in under four hours.

Starting at $2,750 installed

Stairlift Service Across Yuma County

Yuma County, AZ

From the established ranch blocks of Barkley Ranch and Country Estates — where 1960s and 1970s concrete-block construction means lag bolts hold permanently in the stair treads — to the newer stucco two-stories in Fortuna Foothills and Mesa Del Sol where builders installed tile stairs without thinking about the homeowner at 75, our team knows every neighborhood in the Yuma market. We've installed in Ocotillo and La Quinta gated communities where HOA architectural review boards require advance approval, in the Avenue B corridor where bilingual service matters because half the families on the block speak Spanish first, and in Somerton and San Luis where travel time from our base means we schedule morning installs to beat the afternoon heat. For snowbird owners in Las Barrancas and Fortuna de Oro, we coordinate install dates around your October arrival so the lift is tested and ready before you pull into the driveway.

Barkley Ranch split-entry — straight rail on original oak treads

Barkley Ranch, AZ Installed March 2026

A 1972 ranch home in Barkley Ranch with a split-entry foyer — six steps up from the front door to the main living level, original oak treads that had been refinished exactly once in 54 years. Mr. Delgado had a total knee replacement at Yuma Regional Medical Center in January and his daughter drove down from Phoenix every weekend to help him upstairs. She wanted him independent before the summer heat made the drive miserable. We measured on a Monday morning, installed the straight rail by Thursday lunch. The oak treads held the lag bolts perfectly — old-growth hardwood from an era when builders used real lumber. Mr. Delgado rode it solo the same afternoon and told his daughter not to bother coming that weekend.

Fortuna Foothills two-story — curved rail around the upper landing turn

Fortuna Foothills, AZ Installed February 2026

A 2003 stucco two-story in Fortuna Foothills with tile treads, a 90-degree turn at the upper landing, and a homeowner who had been sleeping on the living room sofa since Thanksgiving because the master bedroom was upstairs and her hip wasn't making the trip anymore. Mrs. Pratt's son found us online and called from Tucson. We laser-scanned the staircase on the first visit, fabricated a curved rail that sweeps around the upper landing and parks flush against the wall, and installed a swivel-exit seat so she steps off onto the hallway tile instead of balancing on the top tread. The tile stairs were perfectly level — newer Foothills construction doesn't have the settling issues the older Avenue B homes do. She slept in her own bed the night of the install.

Country Estates cottage — straight rail on stone-and-stucco entry stairs

Country Estates, AZ Installed January 2026

A 1968 Pueblo-style cottage in Country Estates with a raised entry — five stone-topped concrete steps from the carport up to the front door, exposed to direct afternoon sun from March through October. Mrs. Watkins is 84 and had been entering through the back slider to avoid those steps, which meant walking around the entire house on a gravel path in 110-degree heat. Her neighbor finally called us. We mounted a straight rail on the stone treads using masonry anchors rated for the thermal cycling that cracks standard hardware in the Yuma sun. The rail is UV-coated, the seat fabric is rated for direct desert sun, and the motor housing is sealed against the caliche dust that blows through every monsoon. Mrs. Watkins uses her front door again.

Ocotillo front porch — outdoor lift on stone-paver entry steps

Ocotillo, AZ Installed December 2025

A Spanish Revival-style home in Ocotillo with a raised front porch, seven stone-paver steps from the driveway up to the covered entry, and a retired Marine Corps gunnery sergeant who served 22 years at MCAS Yuma and wasn't about to sell the house he'd owned since 1998. Sgt. Reyes qualified for the full $6,800 HISA grant through the Yuma VA Clinic — we prefilled VA Form 10-0103, his VA provider signed the prescription within two weeks, and authorization came through ten days later. The outdoor rail is mounted with stainless-steel masonry anchors into the stone pavers, the motor housing is IP55 weather-sealed and UV-coated, and we added a dust guard on the rail cavity because monsoon haboobs dump fine sand on everything west of the Gila Mountains. The lift has run through one full summer of 120°F days without a service call.

Avenue B ranch — straight rail on carpeted stairs, bilingual install

Avenue B and C, AZ Installed November 2025

A 1975 concrete-block ranch in the Avenue B corridor with carpeted stairs leading from the main floor down to a converted basement den that Sra. Montes used as her bedroom because it stayed cooler in summer. The carpet was original — thin, sun-faded, and slick on the treads. Her granddaughter called us because abuela had slipped twice in the same month. Luis conducted the entire assessment and walkthrough in Spanish, twice through at Sra. Montes's request. We bolted the straight rail through the carpet and into the concrete treads beneath, tested every sensor, and left behind a Spanish-language operating manual. The shared living-room circuit couldn't handle the stairlift's peak draw on the same breaker as the swamp cooler, so we ran a dedicated 15-amp outlet to the base of the stairs and pulled the electrical permit through the City of Yuma. Closed and inspected within a week.

Platform Lift

Somerton home — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Somerton, AZ Installed October 2025

A single-story home in Somerton with a four-step interior drop between the main hallway and a rear addition that was built in the 1990s at a lower grade. Mr. Garza is a wheelchair user — a spinal cord injury from a farming accident 12 years ago — and his family had been lifting him and the chair over those four steps multiple times a day. His wife's back was giving out. We installed an indoor vertical platform lift with hi-visibility yellow safety edges on the platform and the upper landing gate, a non-slip diamond-plate surface, and a remote call button on both levels so he can summon the platform from either end. The lift is rated for the chair plus occupant at 750 lbs and runs on a standard 120V outlet. The yellow edges aren't decorative — they're a visual cue for anyone in the household, including the grandchildren, to stay clear when the platform is in motion. Mr. Garza now moves between the main house and the addition independently, no lifting required.

Common Questions

Everything Yuma Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Yuma right now?

Straight rails in standard Yuma homes — the single-story ranches in Barkley Ranch with a sunken den, the two-story stuccos in Fortuna Foothills, the raised-entry homes along 4th Avenue — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for split-level entries and L-shaped staircases run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-manufactured to your exact stair geometry. Outdoor models rated for 115°F+ ambient heat and monsoon dust run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes the rail, seat, battery backup, heat-rated lubricant, and the first service visit.

Are prices higher in Yuma because of the heat modifications?

No. The high-temperature lubricant, UV-stable seat fabric, and sealed gear housings are baseline on every Yuma County install — not upcharges. We built those into our Arizona spec years ago because standard components fail in the first summer. Equipment pricing is the same across Arizona. What can vary slightly is labor for unusual conditions: compensating mounts for settling concrete-block foundations, running a dedicated 120V outlet to a stairwell that only has a shared circuit, or scheduling around snowbird arrival dates. We itemize everything upfront.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home in Yuma?

Significantly. The median home price in Yuma County is around $290,000. Between realtor commissions, closing costs, moving expenses, and the emotional cost of leaving a home you’ve lived in for decades, downsizing runs $30,000–$60,000 minimum. A straight stairlift installed and warrantied costs under $5,500. A curved rail for the most complex staircase in Yuma County costs under $15,000. The math isn’t close.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service in Yuma?

No. Every Yuma assessment can be conducted entirely in Spanish at your request. Luis is bilingual and has walked dozens of Yuma County families through every line of the paperwork in their preferred language. The written quote, consent forms, and operating manuals are all available in Spanish. Zero surcharge. In a county where over 60% of residents speak Spanish at home, bilingual service is standard, not a premium.

A word from Luis

Most Yuma families call me after a fall scare — a stumble on the tile stair treads that get slick from swamp-cooler condensation, a Marine vet home from MCAS Yuma whose knees gave out two years after his last deployment, a snowbird couple in Fortuna Foothills who finally admitted the stairs to the guest bedroom haven't been used since last winter.

My job is simple: drive to your house, measure once, and give you a written price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
