Common Questions

Everything World Golf Village Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in World Golf Village?

Straight-rail lifts start at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts — common in King & Bear and larger Heritage Landing homes with foyer staircases — start at $9,000 because each rail is custom-bent to your exact turn geometry. Outdoor lifts for raised porch entries (frequent in The Cascades 55+ villas) start at $4,000 with IP55 weather sealing. Heavy-duty lifts rated to 600 lb start at $5,050. Every quote includes the assessment, install labor, rail, seat, battery backup, and a 5-year warranty. No hidden charges — you get the final number at the assessment, not afterward.

Are there financing options for World Golf Village residents?

Yes — financing starts at $79/month. Most WGV homeowners we serve choose 12-to-60-month terms. There's no prepayment penalty. The credit check is soft — it won't ding your score. We can walk you through the application during the assessment; it takes about 10 minutes and you get an answer same-day. About 70% of our WGV installs use at least partial financing.

Why do curved stairlifts cost so much more than straight ones?

A straight rail comes off the factory floor in standard lengths and gets trimmed on site. A curved rail is custom-fabricated for your specific staircase: a technician spends about an hour laser-measuring every turn, radius, and landing dimension in your home. The rail is then bent at the factory to match your exact stair geometry — there's no such thing as an 'off-the-shelf' curved rail. King & Bear homes with sweeping foyer staircases and Heritage Landing properties with mid-landing turns typically need curved rails. The fabrication adds 2-4 weeks to the timeline, but the result is a rail that follows the treads within a half-inch along the entire path.

Is there a price difference between indoor and outdoor stairlifts in Florida?

Yes — outdoor lifts start at $4,000 versus $2,800 for indoor straight models, because outdoor units need IP55-rated weather sealing, marine-grade components to resist salt-air corrosion (especially relevant this close to the Intracoastal), and UV-stabilized upholstery that won't fade under Florida sun. The Cascades and Gran Lake homeowners who need porch or patio lifts should budget for the outdoor model specifically — an indoor lift used outside will fail within two years from moisture and corrosion.

A word from Luis

I've been putting stairlifts into World Golf Village homes since the late '90s, back when Turnberry and Heritage Landing were still building out. Now I do as many installs in The Cascades — the 55+ section — as anywhere else. The homes here run the gamut: two-story family houses with hardwood treads in St. Andrews, curved foyer staircases in King & Bear estates, raised porch entries in Gran Lake waterfront properties. HOA rules differ by neighborhood. The Meadows requires an architectural review form for exterior modifications, but most indoor stairlift installs don't trigger anything because the rail bolts to the treads, not the wall. Typical install runs about three hours. The Florida humidity is the real wild card — outdoor lifts need IP55 sealing and marine-grade components or the salt air off the Intracoastal will eat the track in three years.

I've done installs on carpeted stairs in Royal Pines where the owner wanted the rail to blend with the beige pile, and platform lifts in Gran Lake for wheelchair users who needed access to their second story. One thing that catches people off guard: summer thunderstorms knock out power here regularly. Every lift I install has a DC battery backup that runs about six hours — enough to get through a typical Florida outage. If you're in The Legends or Meadows and wondering whether a stairlift will fit your staircase, the answer is almost always yes. The rail follows the tread profile, so even the split-level townhomes in Isles of the World are workable.

— Luis Ramírez, World Golf Village
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

World Golf Village sits in a sweet spot — 15 miles from downtown St. Augustine, 30 miles from Jacksonville, with two championship golf courses and a network of mature neighborhoods wrapped in nature preserve. For the families and retirees who bought here from the mid-1990s onward, the stairs that once felt like a feature — the curved foyer in a King & Bear estate, the hardwood flight in a Turnberry two-story — can start to feel like the main obstacle to staying put.

Luis Ramírez has been installing stairlifts across every WGV neighborhood for over 15 years. He knows which HOAs want paperwork and which don't, how the humidity affects outdoor rail components, and why the battery backup matters when a summer thunderstorm knocks out power along International Golf Parkway. Call for an assessment — same week, no pressure, no obligation. He'll measure your stairs and give you a firm number before he leaves.
