Stairlift Service Across Chatham County

Chatham County, GA

Homes on Wilmington Island range from Wilmington Park 1950s ranch builds with narrow hardwood staircases to Turners Cove gated waterfront townhomes where curved stairs wrap upper landings. Oemler Point family homes often feature tile entry stairs, while Talahi Island properties have outdoor stairways to private docks. The Walthour area along the river has marsh-front homes where humidity is hard on stair treads. Newer construction in Bradley Point tends toward wider straight staircases, but most island homes predate 1990 — original stairs are tight and benefit from custom rail fitting.

Straight

Wilmington Park Ranch — Straight Rail on Oak Treads

Wilmington Park, GA Installed February 2026

The Hendersons bought their Wilmington Park ranch in 1978. The oak staircase leading to the bedrooms had always been steep, but after Mrs. Henderson's hip surgery, it became a barrier. Luis measured the 13-foot straight run, bolted the rail to the treads, and had the beige Bruno seat running by early afternoon. No drywall work, no repainting — the rail anchored cleanly into the hardwood.

Turners Cove Townhome — Curved Rail at Upper Landing

Turners Cove, GA Installed March 2026

The McIntyres live in a Turners Cove townhome with a 90-degree turn at the upper landing — a curved rail was the only option. Luis spent an hour laser-measuring the turn, then the custom-bent rail arrived three weeks later. The brown Elite seat now parks at the top floor, letting Mr. McIntyre reach the master bedroom without the climb that had been forcing him to sleep downstairs.

Oemler Point Family Home — Straight Rail on Tile Treads

Oemler Point, GA Installed January 2026

The Nguyens' Oemler Point home has terra-cotta tile stairs leading up from the foyer — beautiful but slick, especially in socks. Luis installed a straight rail with a brown seat at the base, anchoring into the tile treads with masonry bolts. The compact install tucked neatly beside the entryway sideboard, and the whole job ran about three and a half hours from unboxing to test ride.

Outdoor

Talahi Island Waterfront — Outdoor Porch Lift

Talahi Island, GA Installed April 2026

Mr. Carver lives on Talahi Island, where the front porch stairs — rough stone paving exposed to salt air and full sun — had become the hardest part of his day. Luis installed an IP55 weather-sealed outdoor stairlift with a cream seat that handles the coastal conditions. The marine-grade rail runs eight feet up the porch steps. Mr. Carver now sits on his porch every morning with coffee, no longer dreading the climb back inside.

Walthour Marsh-Front — Straight Rail Through Carpet

Walthour, GA Installed May 2026

The Simmons family's Walthour-area home has wall-to-wall carpet on the staircase — a soft surface that had worn unevenly over 30 years. Luis mounted a straight rail directly through the carpet into the sub-tread, securing every bracket to the structural wood beneath. The brown seat matched the neutral carpet tone, and the install wrapped in three hours with no carpet damage beyond the bolt holes.

Platform Lift

Bradley Point — Inclined Wheelchair Platform Lift

Bradley Point, GA Installed February 2026

The Reynolds family in Bradley Point needed a wheelchair platform, not a seat lift. Their daughter uses a manual chair and the staircase to the lower den was cutting her off from the rest of the house. Luis installed an inclined platform lift with a black flat deck and yellow safety edges — 600 lb capacity, indoor-rated, with a fold-up platform that leaves the stairs clear when not in use. The white handrail runs the full 15-foot length.

Common Questions

Everything Wilmington Island Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost on Wilmington Island?

Straight rail installations start at $2,800 on the island — that covers the Bruno or Elite seat, the rail bolted to your treads, and labor. Curved lifts run from $9,000 because each rail is custom-bent to your exact stair turn after a laser measurement. Outdoor lifts start at $4,000. Heavy-duty lifts with 600 lb capacity start at $5,050. All prices include the assessment visit, install, and a 5-year warranty.

Are stairlift prices higher on Wilmington Island compared to mainland Savannah?

No — the prices are exactly the same. We don't charge extra for the island location. The assessment visit is free, and the install labor is included in the price no matter where you are in the 31410 zip code.

What adds cost beyond the starting price on Wilmington Island?

Extra rail length beyond 14 feet adds about $150 per foot. Powered swivel seats add around $400. If your stairs need a hinged rail at a doorway landing, that's about $350. Most Wilmington Park ranch homes need none of these — just the base straight-rail package.

Do you offer financing for Wilmington Island residents?

Yes — financing starts at $79 a month with approved credit. No prepayment penalty, and you can pay it off early. We also help with the VA HISA grant paperwork (up to $6,800) and Georgia EDWP waiver applications at no charge.

A word from Luis

I've installed lifts in just about every neighborhood on this island — Wilmington Park, Oemler Point, Talahi, Turners Cove. The older ranch homes in Wilmington Park are the ones I see most. Those staircases were built in the fifties and sixties — narrow treads, tight turns at the landing. A straight rail bolts right to those old oak treads in about three hours.

The marsh-front homes over on Walthour are a different story — the humidity works on everything, so I always spec the outdoor-rated rail even for enclosed porches. My phone's on me. If you're on the island, I can be there same-day to measure.

— Luis Ramírez, Wilmington Island
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Wilmington Island sits on the marsh between Savannah and Tybee — you get the salt air and the live oaks, but also the stairs that come with island living. Whether it's a 1950s ranch in Wilmington Park with a staircase that's gotten harder every year or a two-story waterfront home on Talahi where the stairs to the dock are now a fall risk, we measure and install the rail that fits.

Call Luis at (912) 200-2042 or fill out the form above. He'll come out to the island, measure the stairs, and usually have the install done by lunch. No pressure, no deposit up front — just a straight answer about what works.
