Straight Stairlift

The standard install for Wichita Falls' brick ranches — Faith Village, City View, Tanglewood, and across the county.

Most of the stairlifts we install in Wichita Falls are this model. The '60s and '70s brick ranches that line Faith Village, City View Heights, and the neighborhoods south of Midwestern State have straight runs of 12-15 treads — original oak or deep-pile carpet over plywood. The rail bolts into the treads, the seat and footrest fold flat against the wall, and the battery backup keeps you moving through the next North Texas thunderstorm outage. Most installs wrap in three to four hours.

Starting at $2,400 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls
  • Soft start and soft stop motion
  • Fold-up seat, arms, and footrest
  • 10-year motor & gearbox warranty

Compared to Alternatives

vs Curved: 3x less expensive and installed in one visit. vs Home elevator: 10-15x less cost and no construction. vs Moving bedroom downstairs: Keeps your home exactly as it is.

Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Wichita County

Wichita County, TX

Wichita Falls is a military town — roughly 8.5% veteran population, anchored by Sheppard Air Force Base and decades of retirees who stayed. From the 1970s brick ranches of Faith Village and Tanglewood — where deep-pile carpet over oak treads and straight 13-tread runs are the default install — to the original 1930s workman cottages in Wichita Gardens with plaster-over-lath walls and narrow stairwells that demand zero wall contact, our team has measured staircases across every Wichita Falls neighborhood. We know which City View Heights homes have the attached garages with level-change entries that call for a platform lift, which Midwestern-area ranches have raised stone porches that need anchor sleeves and outdoor sealing, and which Southwest Parkway builds from the 1990s and 2000s have the wide stairs that install in three hours flat.

We also cover Iowa Park, Burkburnett, Holliday, Lakeside City, and Pleasant Valley without travel surcharges.

1972 Faith Village ranch — straight rail on original oak treads

Faith Village, TX Installed March 2026

A 1972 brick ranch in Faith Village with a straight 13-tread run from the den up to the bedrooms. The original red oak treads were in solid shape but had been waxed for decades, making them slick enough that Mr. Henderson had grabbed the handrail hard enough to pull a screw loose two weeks before the call. He retired from Sheppard AFB in 1998 and had been putting off the stairlift conversation for three years. We measured on Tuesday, installed Thursday morning, and he was riding it by lunch. The rail bolts into the treads — no wall contact, no handrail removal — and the seat folds flat against the wall so Mrs. Henderson walks past it with a laundry basket without turning sideways. HISA covered the full cost through the Wichita Falls VA Clinic.

Tanglewood two-story — curved rail with 90° turn at upper landing

Tanglewood, TX Installed February 2026

A 1985 two-story in Tanglewood where the staircase wraps 90 degrees at the upper landing before opening onto the hallway. Mrs. Morales had a knee replacement at United Regional Health Care System in January and her daughter wanted the lift operational before she came home from rehab. We laser-scanned the staircase the day of the call, sent the file to fabrication that evening, and had the curved rail manufactured and installed 12 days later — two days before Mrs. Morales was discharged. The powered swivel-exit seat at the top lets her step off onto the hallway floor instead of the top tread. Her daughter said she rode it eight times the first day just because she could.

1938 Wichita Gardens workman cottage — straight rail alongside original brick-and-plaster

Wichita Gardens, TX Installed January 2026

One of the original 1930s workman cottages in Wichita Gardens — solid brick exterior, plaster-over-lath interior walls, and a straight 12-tread staircase to the second floor bedrooms. The house has been in the Callahan family since 1952. Mrs. Callahan is 89 and the stairs had become a twice-daily risk her son could not stop worrying about from his home in Fort Worth. We mounted the rail entirely into the wooden treads, zero contact with the plaster walls, and specified the folding seat so the narrow stairwell keeps enough clearance for her home health aide to walk alongside. The plaster is untouched. The original oak newel post at the bottom is untouched. Mrs. Callahan went upstairs the evening we finished and told her son on the phone it was smoother than the elevator at United Regional.

Outdoor

Midwestern area ranch — outdoor lift over stone paving porch entry

Midwestern, TX Installed December 2025

A 1965 ranch south of Midwestern State University with a raised front porch and eight exterior stone paving steps. Mr. Dawson is a Korean War veteran who qualified for the full $6,800 HISA grant through the Wichita Falls VA Clinic on Central Freeway — we prefilled VA Form 10-0103, the VA prescription came back in four weeks, and installation was authorized 10 days later. The outdoor lift is rated for the Texas climate: UV-stabilized seat upholstery for the 100+ degree summers, high-heat lubricant rated to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, and a weather hood over the motor housing for the hail and thunderstorms that roll through North Texas from April through June. The stone paving steps required anchor sleeves rather than standard lag bolts — we carry both on every truck in the region. Mr. Dawson has used his front door every day since, including through the summer heat.

City View Heights — straight rail on thick carpeted stairs

City View Heights, TX Installed November 2025

A 1974 ranch in City View Heights with deep-pile carpeted stairs — the standard floor covering in homes built across Wichita Falls in the early 1970s. Mr. Whitfield's wife had been diagnosed with COPD and the 14-tread climb to the master bedroom left her winded and unsteady by the top step. Carpet installs use longer mounting bolts that penetrate through the pad and carpet into the tread substrate, and every bolt gets torque-verified because the soft carpet compresses over time and loosens standard hardware. We installed on a Friday morning and Mrs. Whitfield rode the lift up to the bedroom after lunch without a single stop to catch her breath. Her pulmonologist at United Regional wrote the medical necessity letter for the IRS deduction the following week.

Platform Lift

Southwest Parkway home — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Southwest Parkway, TX Installed October 2025

A newer build off Southwest Parkway where SSgt. Mitchell — a Sheppard AFB retiree — uses a powered wheelchair after a service-connected spinal injury. The home has a five-step level change between the garage entry and the main living area. He had been transferring from the wheelchair to a manual stair-climber device twice a day, a process that took 15 minutes each way and left him exhausted before the day started. We installed an indoor wheelchair platform lift with high-visibility yellow safety edges along the platform perimeter, automatic fold-down ramps at both levels, and a keyed lockout. The full cost was covered by his HISA grant through the Wichita Falls VA Clinic — we prefilled VA Form 10-0103 and the authorization came back in five weeks. SSgt. Mitchell rolls from the garage to the kitchen in 30 seconds now. He said it gave him back the two hours a day he was losing to transfers.

Common Questions

Everything Wichita Falls Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Wichita Falls right now?

Straight rails in a standard Wichita Falls ranch — the brick homes across Faith Village, City View, Tanglewood, and the Midwestern area — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for two-stories with a landing turn run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor lifts for raised front porches with stone or concrete steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes the rail, seat, battery backup, installation, and first service visit.

Is Wichita Falls cheaper than DFW for stairlift work?

Equipment pricing is identical — we don't inflate or discount quotes by ZIP code. What is genuinely different in Wichita Falls is the funding picture. With roughly 8.5% of the population having veteran status — about 1.4 times the Texas average — HISA grants cover the full cost for a significant share of installs here. The STAR+PLUS Medicaid waiver and the IRS medical deduction are the other two routes we see most often. Between those three, a meaningful number of Wichita Falls families pay little or nothing out of pocket.

Any hidden fees I should watch for?

Our quote is the price. It includes the rail, seat, battery backup, all mounting hardware, installation labor, testing, the homeowner walkthrough, and the first service visit. What can add cost (rarely) is when an older home needs a new dedicated electrical circuit — that requires a TDLR-licensed electrician and a city electrical permit. If that applies, we tell you at the home assessment, not after. No 'Texas heat surcharge,' no 'travel fee' inside Wichita County.

Does my HOA need to approve a stairlift installation?

Some Wichita Falls subdivisions — particularly the newer builds off Southwest Parkway and Stone Lake Estates — have HOA architectural review requirements. The federal Fair Housing Act requires HOAs to grant reasonable accommodations for residents with documented disabilities, and Texas Property Code Chapter 209 reinforces that obligation for Texas HOAs. We prepare the reasonable-accommodation request on your behalf, including the medical documentation packet. We have never had a Wichita Falls HOA deny a properly documented request. If your home is not in an HOA, no approval is needed — the stairlift bolts to existing treads and is not a structural modification under Texas code.

A word from Luis

Wichita Falls is a military town — always has been. Between Sheppard AFB retirees, Vietnam-era vets who settled here in the '70s, and the younger generation coming home from deployments with mobility issues, HISA paperwork is probably the single thing I handle more of here than anywhere else in North Texas. The Wichita Falls VA Clinic on Central Freeway writes the prescriptions; I handle the rest.

One visit. One price. Honored for 30 days. I drive to your house — Midwestern, Southwest Parkway, Faith Village, Iowa Park — measure in person, and give you a number you can take to the bank.
