Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Comanche County

Comanche County, OK

From the 1950s brick ranches along NW Fort Sill Boulevard and Country Club Heights — where retired artillery officers have been aging in place for decades — to the split-level ranches of Lawton Heights and Wyatt Acres with their 90-degree landing turns, our team has measured stairs in every part of the city. We know which Tomlinson Park cottages have narrow treads requiring a slim-profile rail, which Northwest Lawton raised entries need outdoor-sealed units rated for dust storms, and which southeast neighborhoods house the highest concentration of wheelchair-platform-lift requests in the county. We also cover Cache, Elgin, Medicine Park, Geronimo, Sterling, and Fletcher — no travel fee inside a 30-mile radius.

Straight

Straight rail on original oak treads in a 1958 Country Club Heights ranch

Country Club Heights, OK Installed February 2026

A 1958 brick ranch in Country Club Heights with original red-oak treads up to the second-floor bedrooms. Mr. Underwood served at Fort Sill from 1972 to 1994 and has lived in this house since his first reenlistment. His wife’s knee replacement last October made the thirteen-step climb a twice-daily ordeal. We measured the straight run at 14 feet, bolted the rail into the oak treads without touching the walnut-stained banister, and tested the battery backup through a full charge-discharge cycle — Lawton’s ice storms knock power out for days. Mrs. Underwood rode it three times before we finished packing tools. The Lawton VA Clinic at Fort Sill wrote the prescription — HISA covered $6,800 of the total cost.

Curved

Curved rail threading a 90° upper landing in a 1963 Lawton Heights split-level

Lawton Heights, OK Installed January 2026

A 1963 split-level in Lawton Heights — the kind of floor plan that dominates older Lawton neighborhoods built during the Fort Sill expansion boom. Seven steps from the foyer to the main level, a 90-degree landing turn, then nine more steps to the bedrooms. Two other companies quoted two separate straight lifts with a transfer at the landing. We laser-scanned the full run and fabricated a single curved rail that carries Mrs. Ballard from the front entry to the upstairs hallway in one ride, no transfers. The swivel-exit seat deposits her onto the hallway carpet instead of the top tread. Her son drove down from Norman for the install and said he’d been losing sleep over those stairs for two years.

Straight

Straight rail in a stone-front cottage near Tomlinson Park

Tomlinson Park, OK Installed December 2025

A 1940s stone-front cottage two blocks from Tomlinson Park with narrow stairs, a low ceiling at the top landing, and original plaster walls. The rail bolts into the treads only — no wall drilling needed. Mrs. Dawson is 84 and has lived here since 1967. Her daughter in Tulsa arranged the assessment after a fall scare last Thanksgiving. We fitted a slim-profile straight rail with a fold-flat seat and footrest so the stairway stays passable for her grandchildren. The stone exterior keeps the interior cool in summer but the stair cavity still hit 95 degrees during our August service check — the aluminum-finned motor heatsink kept the thermal cutoff from tripping.

Outdoor

Outdoor lift on a stone-paved front entry in Northwest Lawton

Northwest Lawton, OK Installed November 2025

A raised-entry ranch off NW Cache Road with six exterior stone steps and no handrail. Mr. Whitehorse is a Vietnam-era veteran who served at Fort Sill as an artillery instructor. He’d been entering through the garage for three years to avoid those steps. We anchored an outdoor straight rail into the stone paving, sealed the motor housing to IP55 against Oklahoma’s dust storms and driving rain, and added UV-resistant coating rated for the 110-degree July sun. The Lawton VA Clinic wrote the HISA prescription — $6,800 covered the full install. He uses the front door again for the first time since 2022.

Straight

Straight rail on deep-pile carpet in a 1970s Wyatt Acres colonial

Wyatt Acres, OK Installed October 2025

A 1972 colonial in Wyatt Acres with thick wall-to-wall carpet on every tread — the kind of deep-pile shag standard in 1970s Oklahoma new construction. Carpet installs take longer because we verify the tread structure beneath the padding before bolting. We pulled back sections at the top, middle, and bottom to confirm solid yellow-pine treads underneath, drilled pilot holes through the carpet and pad, and bolted the rail brackets directly into the wood. The carpet sits flat around each bracket with zero bunching. Mrs. Prater had a hip replacement at Southwestern Medical Center and came home to a working stairlift the same week.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform lift with safety edges in a modified Lawton ranch

Southeast Lawton, OK Installed September 2025

A modified 1960s ranch in southeast Lawton where the homeowner uses a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal injury sustained during active duty at Fort Sill. The six-step interior run from the living area down to the den needed a platform lift, not a seated stairlift. We installed a flat wheelchair platform with bright yellow safety edges along both sides, automatic fold-down ramps at top and bottom, and a key-lock control panel. The yellow edge strips are required under ASME A18.1 for visibility and serve as pressure-sensitive emergency stops. Sgt. Hayes rolls his chair onto the platform, presses one button, and rides down to his workshop without transferring. The OKC VA Health Care System authorized the HISA grant — $6,800 applied directly to the install cost.

Common Questions

Everything Lawton Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Lawton right now?

Straight rails in standard Lawton homes — the 1950s brick ranches along Fort Sill Boulevard, the colonials in Wyatt Acres, the bungalows near Tomlinson Park — run $2,800 to $5,200 installed. Curved rails for the split-level ranches in Lawton Heights and east of Gore Boulevard run $9,000 to $14,500 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and front porches run $4,000 to $7,000. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes the Oklahoma-spec heatsink and 25-cycle battery backup.

Why are Lawton prices lower than OKC or Tulsa?

Equipment costs are identical statewide — we don’t discount for Lawton or inflate for Nichols Hills. What keeps Lawton installs on the lower end is simpler staircase geometry. Most Comanche County homes are single-story ranches or modest two-stories with a straight run, no historic-district paperwork, and no foundation issues that complicate mounting. If your home does have a split-level landing or unusual tread spacing, we tell you on the first visit — not on the invoice.

Does the HISA grant really cover the full cost for Fort Sill veterans?

For service-connected disabilities, the HISA grant pays up to $6,800 — which covers most straight-rail installs entirely and puts a serious dent in curved-rail costs. Non-service-connected veterans get up to $2,000. You need a prescription from a VA provider (the Lawton VA Clinic at 4303 Pitman Street on Fort Sill or the Lawton North VA Clinic at 2640 Miner Road both write them) and the home must be your primary residence. We prefill VA Form 10-0103 during the first visit and walk it through the OKC VA Health Care System. Typical turnaround from prescription to approved payment: 4–8 weeks.

Is the written quote a firm price or an estimate?

Firm price, honored for 30 days from the date of your home assessment. The number on the quote is the number on the invoice — no change orders, no ‘discovery fees,’ no surprise line items. The only thing that changes the price is if you choose a different model or add options during the 30-day window. If material costs drop before your install date, we pass the savings through.

A word from Luis

I get two kinds of calls from Lawton. First: retired Fort Sill families in 1950s brick ranches along NW Fort Sill Boulevard who’ve been told the VA won’t cover a stairlift — wrong, HISA covers most of it. Second: grown kids in OKC or Dallas worried about a parent alone in a Lawton Heights bungalow after a fall.

I drive down from OKC, measure your stairs, and hand you a written quote the same visit. If you’re VA-enrolled, I prefill Form 10-0103 before I leave. The Lawton VA Clinic on Pitman Street at Fort Sill and the Lawton North VA Clinic on Miner Road both write the prescription. En español si lo prefiere.
