Stairlift Service Across Milwaukee County

Milwaukee County, WI

From the compact bungalows of the Hale neighborhood — built between the 1920s and 1940s with narrow treads, low ceilings, and original hardwood — to the colonials along National Avenue and Greenfield Avenue where we match rail finishes to 80-year-old oak banisters, our team has covered every block of West Allis. We know which Washington Heights homes pair well with a slim-profile rail, which 70th Street postwar ranches need an exterior lift, and which Honey Creek split-levels have the landing turn that makes a straight rail impossible. We also serve Wauwatosa, Greenfield, and West Milwaukee.

1938 Hale neighborhood bungalow — rail matched to original pine treads

Hale, WI Installed March 2026

A 1938 bungalow in the Hale neighborhood with original pine treads and the narrow stairway typical of West Allis worker housing built before WWII. Mrs. Kowalski's son called from Madison after his mother slipped on the fifth step. We measured Tuesday, installed Thursday. The rail is color-matched to the original pine, bolts into the treads without touching the banister, and the folding seat keeps 28 inches of stair width clear for visiting grandchildren.

National Avenue colonial — curved rail around a 90° mid-landing turn

National Avenue Corridor, WI Installed February 2026

A 1942 colonial near the National Avenue corridor with a formal oak staircase, a 90-degree turn at the mid-landing, and homeowners who were clear the lift could not look like medical equipment in their front hallway. Two companies had quoted two separate lifts and a mid-landing transfer. We laser-scanned the full staircase geometry, fabricated a single continuous curved rail that carries Mrs. Berger from the ground floor to the upper hallway in one smooth ride, and matched the rail finish to the original oak grain. The swivel-exit seat at the top lets her step off onto the hallway floor, not the top tread. Two months later, no one at her Wednesday card group has asked about the lift.

Honey Creek two-story — straight rail on 14 carpeted treads

Honey Creek, WI Installed January 2026

A 1958 two-story in the Honey Creek neighborhood with 14 carpeted treads on a single straight run from the living room to the upper bedrooms. Mr. Grzybowski had hip replacement surgery at Froedtert Hospital and came home to a staircase he couldn't safely climb. We measured the day after his wife called, installed three days later, and bolted the rail through the carpet into the tread wood. The brown-upholstered seat blends with the warm carpet tone and folds flat against the wall when not in use. He rode it to bed the evening he came home from rehab.

Outdoor

Washington Heights raised entry — freeze-thaw-rated outdoor rail

Washington Heights, WI Installed December 2025

A postwar Cape Cod in Washington Heights where the front entry sits six concrete steps above the sidewalk grade. Mrs. Schultz had fallen on the icy front steps the previous January and hadn't used her own front door since. We installed a weather-sealed outdoor straight rail with hot-dip galvanized brackets rated for Milwaukee County's 80+ annual freeze-thaw cycles, a cream UV-resistant seat, and a keyed lockout switch at the base. The sealed IP55 motor housing handles snow, ice, and salt without corrosion. She used her front door the same afternoon and rode the lift through the entire winter without a service call.

Greenfield Avenue bungalow — compact rail under a low ceiling archway

Greenfield Avenue, WI Installed November 2025

A 1929 bungalow on Greenfield Avenue where the staircase passes under a plaster archway that left less than 7 feet of clearance. Every inch counted. We specified the slimmest rail in our catalog, added a folding footrest so the lift tucks fully under the arch when parked, and routed the power cord through the wall rather than along the rail edge. Mr. Kaminski gets a clear stairway for his grandchildren and a lift that disappears into the architecture when not in use.

Platform Lift

70th Street raised entry — outdoor wheelchair platform for a winter-proof approach

70th Street, WI Installed October 2025

The Lewandowski family's son uses a power wheelchair and needed all-weather exterior access to the raised main-floor entry — a common layout in West Allis 1950s and 1960s raised ranches. We installed an inclined platform lift with yellow safety edges, a fold-up deck when not in use, and a keyed call station at street level. Every bracket is hot-dip galvanized and the motor housing is sealed against Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycling — it ran through the entire winter without a service call.

Common Questions

Everything West Allis Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in West Allis right now?

Straight rails in standard West Allis homes — the Hale bungalows, the National Avenue colonials, the Greenfield Avenue Cape Cods — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, needed for Honey Creek split-levels or any staircase with a landing turn, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-fabricated to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches and exterior entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in West Allis than in nearby Wauwatosa or Greenfield?

Equipment prices are the same across Milwaukee County. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions — preserving original banisters in an older bungalow, working around a narrow archway in a Hale neighborhood home, or adding a dedicated electrical circuit in a pre-1940 house still running a 60-amp panel. We list every line item in the written quote before we start. No surprise fees.

Is a refurbished stairlift a realistic option for a West Allis home?

For straight staircases, a certified factory-reconditioned unit can save 30–40% off a new install — new upholstery, new battery, 2-year warranty. For the curved installs common in split-level West Allis homes, refurbished is almost never practical because the rail is manufactured to a specific staircase. Ask us during the assessment if you have a standard straight run — we'll tell you honestly whether refurbished inventory makes sense.

Any hidden fees for older West Allis homes?

Our quote covers everything: rail, seat, installation, battery backup, and the first service visit. The only occasional add-on in older West Allis homes is a dedicated electrical circuit if the nearest outlet can't handle the load. If that applies, we tell you during the assessment — not after we've started. A new circuit typically adds $200–$400 and is handled by our licensed Wisconsin electrician.

A word from Luis

Every home in West Allis is different — the staircase width, the tread material, the landing configuration. I measure in person because a phone estimate in this market is a guess, and guesses cost families money. We give you a written quote, honored for 30 days, and we do not start until you are ready.

Milwaukee County's freeze-thaw cycling is hard on outdoor hardware. Every exterior install ships with hot-dip galvanized brackets and cold-weather-rated batteries that hold charge through sub-zero Wisconsin winters. That's the baseline spec here, not an add-on.

— Luis Ramírez, West Allis
