Straight Stairlift

The workhorse of Clark County's tract homes, postwar ranches, and Craftsman bungalows.

Over 70% of the stairlifts we install in Clark County are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the battery backup keeps you moving through the next winter windstorm power outage. Most Vancouver installs wrap in under four hours. Every bracket ships with marine-grade coating for the Pacific Northwest moisture.

Starting at $3,200 installed

What's Included

Stairlift Service Across Clark County

Clark County, WA

From the early-1900s Craftsman bungalows of Hough and Arnada — where steep stairs, original fir banisters, and narrow treads are the norm — to the 1990s two-story tract homes of Cascade Park and Fishers Landing, where wide carpeted runs make straight installs routine, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in Clark County. We know which Felida hillside homes have the daylight-basement layout that requires an outdoor porch rail, which Lincoln postwar ranches have the split-level entry that makes a curved rail mandatory, and which Carter Park subdivisions have the narrow stairwell that needs a compact folding seat to maintain ADA clearance. Uptown Village in the downtown core has the oldest housing stock in the city — 1920s Victorians and Foursquares — and accounts for our most banister-sensitive installs in the metro.

1912 Hough Craftsman — rail color-matched to original Douglas fir

Hough, WA Installed March 2026

A 1912 Craftsman in Hough with original Douglas fir banisters and steep, narrow treads typical of the neighborhood's earliest homes. Mrs. Andersen's daughter called from Seattle after her mother fell on the second step during a January rainstorm — she'd tracked water in on her shoes. We brought finish samples on the first visit, matched the rail to the original fir, and bolted into the treads without touching a single spindle. The folding seat leaves 25 inches of stair width for grandchildren to pass.

Low-profile rail in a 1990s Cascade Park two-story

Cascade Park, WA Installed February 2026

A 1993 two-story in Cascade Park with a wide carpeted stairway and a homeowner who said the lift "absolutely cannot look like a medical device when the grandkids visit." We specified the slim-profile rail, neutral tan upholstery, and mounted the chair so it parks flush against the wall at the base of the stairs. Mr. Thornton rides it six times a day after his knee replacement. His wife says the grandchildren think it's a theme-park ride.

90° landing turn in a 1968 Lincoln split-level

Lincoln, WA Installed January 2026

A 1968 split-level in Lincoln with seven steps from the entry to the main floor, a 90° turn at the landing, and nine more to the bedrooms. A straight rail was impossible. We digitally scanned the staircase during the first consultation, fabricated a curved rail that carries Mrs. Nguyen's mother from the front door to the upper hallway in one continuous ride, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top so she steps off onto hallway carpet instead of the top tread.

Fishers Landing carpeted stairs — swivel-exit for safer top-landing step-off

Fishers Landing, WA Installed December 2025

A two-story 1988 home in Fishers Landing with 14 carpeted treads and a tight newel post at the bottom. Mrs. Kowalski's biggest worry wasn't the ride — it was stepping off at the top where her husband had slipped the previous winter. We installed the swivel-exit seat that rotates 90° at the upper landing, so she stands on the hallway floor instead of the top step. The fold-up footrest keeps the stairway clear for her two granddaughters.

Arnada Victorian — compact rail under the original archway

Arnada, WA Installed November 2025

A 1908 Victorian in Arnada where the stairs pass under a narrow arched opening — every inch counted. We fitted the slimmest rail in our catalog and added a folding footrest so the lift tucks fully under the arch when parked. Mr. Olson's visiting great-grandchildren can still run up and down the stairs. The rail coating is matched to the original trim paint — he approved the color on the first visit.

Outdoor daylight-basement entry in Felida — marine-grade for Pacific Northwest rain

Felida, WA Installed October 2025

The Morrison home in Felida is built into a hillside with an exterior staircase running from the driveway down to the daylight basement — the primary entry for Mr. Morrison, who uses a walker. We installed a weather-sealed outdoor rail with marine-grade coating, stainless-steel fasteners, and a keyed call station at the lower landing. It rode through the 2025-2026 winter rain season — over 42 inches of rainfall — without a single service call.

Common Questions

Everything Vancouver Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Clark County right now?

Straight rails in standard Vancouver homes -- the Cascade Park two-stories, the Fishers Landing split-entries, the Felida hillside ranches -- run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for Lincoln split-levels with mid-landing turns and older Hough Craftsmans with 90-degree staircase bends, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised porches and daylight-basement entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Vancouver than Portland across the river?

Equipment prices are the same -- we don't inflate quotes for Felida or Camas addresses. What differs is the licensing regime: Washington requires L&I contractor registration, not Oregon's CCB, so make sure any installer quoting Clark County work carries a current WA L&I number. Install labor varies slightly for unusual conditions: preserving original fir banisters in Hough Craftsmans, compensating for century-old tread wear in Arnada Victorians, and the occasional electrical upgrade in a pre-1940 home. We tell you the line items upfront.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30-40% off a new install -- we carry factory-reconditioned straight rails with new upholstery, new batteries, and a 2-year warranty. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never an option because the rail is custom-fabricated for a specific staircase. If your Clark County home has a standard straight run, ask us about refurbished inventory during the assessment.

Do I need to worry about Washington vs. Oregon licensing if I live in Vancouver?

Yes -- and many Portland-based companies miss this. Any installer performing paid work in Clark County must carry a current Washington L&I contractor registration number, a $12,000 bond (or $6,000 specialty), and $50,000 liability insurance. An Oregon CCB license does not transfer. Our L&I registration number is on every written quote and verifiable at lni.wa.gov. Don't let anyone start drilling who can't show you a WA number.

A word from Luis

Most Vancouver families call me after something has already happened — a slip on the rain-slick back porch stairs in Felida, a parent who stopped going upstairs three months after a hip replacement, a son in Portland calling because his father in Hough refuses to move out of the house he built in 1962.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. And yes — I cross the bridge from Portland for every Clark County call.
