Stairlift Service Across Pima County

Pima County, AZ

From Barrio Viejo — where thick adobe walls, uneven floors, and retrofitted stairs define every install — to the 1920s bungalows of Sam Hughes and El Encanto near U of A, from the custom hillside homes of the Catalina Foothills with outdoor stair runs carved into desert slopes to the El Presidio historic district downtown, our team has mapped every staircase type in Pima County. We know which Winterhaven ranches need a swivel-exit seat, which Rincon Heights bungalows have narrow 1930s treads, and which Tucson Estates homes need a Spanish-language consultation first. We also cover Oro Valley, Marana, and the Green Valley retirement corridor.

1928 Sam Hughes bungalow — rail color-matched to original oak treads

Sam Hughes, AZ Installed March 2026

A 1928 bungalow two blocks from the University of Arizona with original oak treads and a stained-glass transom at the landing the family refused to obstruct. We color-matched the rail finish to the existing oak, bolted the track into the treads without touching the original handrail, and positioned the parked chair below the transom line. Mrs. Martinez’s bridge group met twice before anyone noticed the lift. Luis conducted the entire walk-through in Spanish at the family’s request.

Catalina Foothills custom home — curved rail through a 90° tile-on-concrete entry

Catalina Foothills, AZ Installed February 2026

A 1988 custom hillside home in the Catalina Foothills with a sweeping tile-on-concrete staircase, a 90° turn at the upper landing, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Santa Catalina Mountains. Mr. Goldstein, a retired Davis-Monthan officer, needed a rail that wouldn’t block the view his wife had designed the house around. We laser-scanned the geometry, fabricated a curved rail that hugs the wall side, and installed in a single day. The VA HISA grant covered the majority of the cost.

1930s Rincon Heights bungalow — compact rail on narrow treads, swivel-exit seat

Rincon Heights, AZ Installed January 2026

A 1934 bungalow in Rincon Heights with narrow 1930s treads — only 30 inches between the wall and the banister — and a turned wooden newel post at the bottom landing. Mrs. Delgado’s daughter drove from Phoenix every weekend to help her mother navigate the stairs after a hip replacement at Tucson Medical Center. We fitted the compact-profile rail with a swiveling bracket mount that clears the newel post, added the folding footrest for maximum passing clearance, and included the swivel-exit seat at the top. Luis conducted the walk-through in Spanish. Mrs. Delgado’s daughter has not driven down for stair duty since.

Catalina Foothills hillside entry — desert-rated outdoor rail on a 35° slope

Catalina Foothills, AZ Installed December 2025

A hillside home with 18 exterior stairs carved into the desert slope from the driveway to the front door — a grade steep enough that Mrs. Sorenson had stopped using the front entry entirely after her second knee replacement. We engineered an outdoor rail anchored to the concrete-and-rock substrate at the exact 35° grade, sealed every component against monsoon rain and 110°F surface temperatures, and installed in a single day. The rail ran through the full 2025 monsoon season — including a July haboob that coated half of Tucson in red dust — without a single service call.

Barrio Viejo adobe — compact rail shimmed for uneven historic floors

Barrio Viejo, AZ Installed November 2025

An 1890s adobe in Barrio Viejo with thick walls, a retrofitted interior staircase, and floors that haven’t been level since the Territorial era. Luis conducted the entire consultation in Spanish — Sra. Ochoa needed every detail in her own language. We shimmed the rail mounting points to true level without altering the original floor, specified our slimmest profile for the narrow staircase, and added the folding footrest. Her grandchildren can still run past on the way upstairs. The Historic Preservation Office signed off on the interior install without review.

Platform Lift

Tucson Estates ranch — inclined wheelchair platform lift for full-time chair user

Tucson Estates, AZ Installed October 2025

A 1972 Tucson Estates ranch with a converted attic that added a second floor. Mr. Begay uses a power wheelchair full-time and needed to access the upper level without transferring out of his chair. A seated stairlift was not an option. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway: a flat anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges, white handrails, and a keyed lockout so grandchildren cannot activate it unsupervised. The VA HISA grant covered the full $6,800 service-connected maximum, and ALTCS covered the remaining balance through his case manager. Mr. Begay rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides the incline to the upper floor without ever leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Tucson Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Tucson right now?

Straight rails in standard Tucson homes — the Sam Hughes bungalows, the Barrio Viejo adobes, the Winterhaven and Broadmoor ranches — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for Catalina Foothills hillside turns and El Encanto colonial landing geometry run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase. Outdoor models for raised entries and desert slope stairs run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Tucson prices different from Phoenix?

Equipment prices are the same across Arizona — we don’t discount or inflate based on metro size. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: shimming for uneven Barrio Viejo adobe floors, desert-rated lubricant and UV-stabilized upholstery we spec as standard on every Tucson install, and custom floor-mount brackets for converted loft staircases. Those are baseline specs, not upcharges. We tell you the line items upfront on the written quote.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every Tucson assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request. Luis is bilingual and has walked dozens of Pima County families through every line of the paperwork in their preferred language. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is available in Spanish. Zero surcharge. A significant portion of our Barrio Viejo and south-side Tucson clients request Spanish-language service, and we treat it as standard.

Is there a charge for the 6-month dust-check service visit?

No. The post-monsoon dust check is included with every Tucson install at no additional cost. Sonoran Desert conditions — haboob dust, monsoon moisture, 110°F surface temperatures — mean gear housings and rail tracks accumulate debris faster than in other climates. We return at 6 months, clean the drive system, inspect the battery, and confirm every sensor is operating correctly. It is part of the install price, not a separate billing event.

A word from Luis

Most Tucson families call after a scare on the stairs — a slip on the tile treads in a Catalina Foothills hillside home, a mother in a Barrio Viejo adobe who hasn’t been upstairs since knee surgery at TMC, a son in Phoenix worried about his parents in a Sam Hughes bungalow they’ve owned for 35 years and aren’t leaving.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
