Stairlift Service Across Montgomery County

Montgomery County, MD

Travilah's residential pockets each bring their own stair geometry. Glen Knolls and Piney Glen Farms date to the 1970s–80s — split-levels and colonials with oak treads and standard-width staircases that fit straight rails cleanly. Travilah Meadows has custom homes from the 1990s and 2000s, many with curved staircases wrapping around half-walls or open foyers. Dufief Mill Estates and Stonebridge feature carpeted stairs in newer colonials. Along the southern edge, Palatine and the homes near Travilah Road include older ranches and farmhouses where outdoor porch lifts handle the entry steps. Nearly every home sits on a generous lot, so the 3-hour install disrupts no one.

Straight

Dark Oak Treads, 1982 Colonial — Glen Knolls

Glen Knolls, MD Installed March 2026

The Chens' 1982 colonial had dark oak treads — common across this subdivision. The straight staircase ran 14 feet with a standard rise and a clear bottom landing. We bolted the rail to every third tread and plugged the DC motor into the outlet at the base. Mrs. Chen took her first ride about two and a half hours after the crew pulled up. The beige seat upholstery picked up the warm tones in the oak.

90° Curve at Upper Landing — Travilah Meadows

Travilah Meadows, MD Installed February 2026

The Kapoors' custom home had a sweeping curved staircase with a 90-degree turn at the upper landing, wrapping around a half-wall under a brass chandelier. We laser-measured the full arc in 50 minutes, then the rail was fabricated to match. Installed in a single day — the brown seat parks discreetly at the top floor, out of the main sightline from the foyer.

Stone Tile Treads, Compact Split-Level — Piney Glen Farms

Piney Glen Farms, MD Installed January 2026

Compact split-level with stone tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the base. The straight rail tucked tight against the wall — the brown seat folds to 13 inches when not in use, leaving the hallway passable. Install took three and a half hours. The homeowner had worried about losing access to the downstairs powder room, but the folded rail cleared the doorway by four inches.

Outdoor

Stone Porch Entry with IP55 Outdoor Rail — Palatine

Palatine, MD Installed February 2026

The Morenos' ranch home has a stone-paved front porch with four steps up from the walkway. Maryland's freeze-thaw cycles had made the flagstone uneven. We mounted an IP55-rated outdoor straight rail along the porch edge — marine-grade coating, cream seat, cover included. The rail is sloped at 32 degrees, steep enough to clear the porch overhang and gentle enough for a comfortable ride up.

Carpeted Stairs, Tile Landing — Dufief Mill Estates

Dufief Mill Estates, MD Installed April 2026

The Rosenbergs' 1994 colonial had plush beige carpet on the stairs — the brown seat upholstery matched almost exactly. Tile floor at the base landing. Carpeted treads let the rail brackets seat firmly without shims, keeping the install quiet over time. Three hours including the demo ride and two remote controls, one for each landing. Mrs. Rosenberg made it upstairs to her bedroom without assistance for the first time in six months.

Platform Lift

Indoor Wheelchair Platform Lift — Travilah Acres

Travilah Acres, MD Installed March 2026

The Wilsons' ranch home needed a platform lift — Mr. Wilson uses a wheelchair full-time after a spinal injury. The indoor inclined platform carries 600 lb on a flat black deck with yellow safety edges and a white handrail. We ran the rail along the wall of the straight staircase from the main floor down to the lower-level family room. Install took most of a day, including reinforced lower bracketing at the landing.

Common Questions

Everything Travilah Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Travilah, MD?

A straight stairlift starts at $2,800 installed. Curved models begin at $9,000 because the rail is custom-bent to your staircase after an on-site laser measurement. Outdoor lifts start at $4,000. Heavy-duty models that carry up to 600 lb start at $5,050. All prices include the assessment, rail, seat, installation, and a demo ride for every family member who needs to operate the controls. Financing is available from $79 a month.

Is a curved stairlift more expensive than a straight one in Travilah?

Yes. The price difference reflects the custom fabrication. A straight rail comes in pre-cut sections — we bolt it to your treads in about three hours. A curved rail requires a 50-minute laser measurement of every turn angle and radius on your staircase. The rail is then bent at the factory to match your exact stairs. Most curved installs in Travilah Meadows and the custom homes near Glen Road run $9,000 to $12,000 depending on the number of turns and the total rail length.

Are there any hidden costs with stairlift installation in Montgomery County?

No. The price Luis quotes at the assessment is the price you pay. It covers the rail, seat, installation labor, two remote controls, and the demo and safety briefing. Stairlifts are considered appliances, not structural modifications — you do not need a building permit in Montgomery County for a stairlift install. If your outlet at the base or top of the stairs needs upgrading, we flag that during the assessment, but most Travilah homes have standard outlets within six feet of the staircase.

What financing options are available for Travilah residents?

We offer financing from $79 a month with approved credit. For veterans, the VA HISA grant covers up to $6,800 for service-connected disabilities and $2,000 for non-service-connected — that is a one-time, tax-free benefit that never has to be repaid. Maryland's Accessible Homes for Seniors program through DHCD provides grants of up to $25,000 for accessibility improvements including stairlifts. Montgomery County also runs the HARP program, a no-cost accessibility modification program for income-qualified homeowners, administered through Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland.

A word from Luis

Most of the homes I measure in Travilah Meadows have those curved open staircases — beautiful to look at, tricky if you lose mobility. We laser-measure the whole run in about an hour and the rail comes back bent to match every turn. On the flip side, over in Glen Knolls and Piney Glen, it's mostly straight colonial stairs. Those jobs take under three hours from the truck to the test ride.

I've done over 200 installs in the North Potomac area — Travilah, Potomac, Darnestown, Gaithersburg. The houses here are solidly built, which makes for clean rail mounting. If your staircase has a half-wall or a mid-run landing, bring me out to measure it. No cost for the assessment, and I'll tell you honestly whether a straight rail or a curved rail is what your stairs need.

— Luis Ramírez, Travilah
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Whether your home is a 1980s colonial in Dufief Mill Estates or a custom build in Travilah Meadows, the stairlift that fits comes down to your actual staircase — not a catalog. Luis measures every job in person, and the rail is cut or bent to your exact treads. No guesswork, no drywall repair.

Traffic on I-270 can be rough, but our install crew works out of North Potomac, so we are never more than 15 minutes from any home in Travilah. Same-day assessments are doable if you call before 10 am. The 330-year-old Travilah Oak at Glen and Travilah Roads has seen this community grow — we have been putting stairlifts into these homes long enough to know every floor plan in the zip code.
