Bestseller

The workhorse of Terre Haute's Farrington's Grove Victorians, Collett Park bungalows, and postwar colonials. Over 70% of the stairlifts we install in Vigo County are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the battery backup keeps you moving through Indiana's winter power outages. Most Terre Haute installs wrap in under four hours.

Stairlift Service Across Vigo County

Vigo County, IN

From the Victorian mansions and Queen Annes of Farrington's Grove — on the National Register since the 1990s, with original hardwood staircases, steep second-floor runs, and century-old millwork we thread curved rails past without touching — to the 1920s Dutch Colonials and bungalows of Collett Park with their narrow treads and low ceilings at the top landing, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in Vigo County. We know which Springhill split-levels have the 90-degree landing that requires a curved rail, which Deming-area ranches have the raised-slab entry that calls for an outdoor unit, and which North Side postwar colonials have the carpeted stairs and swivel-exit configuration that works best for top-landing safety. South 7th Street and 12 Points round out our heaviest install corridors.

Farrington's Grove Victorian — rail color-matched to original oak treads

Farrington's Grove, IN Installed March 2026

An 1890s Victorian in Farrington's Grove with original dark oak treads and a steep straight staircase to the second floor. Mrs. Campbell's family has owned the home since the 1960s, and she was clear that nothing could touch the original woodwork. We brought finish samples, matched the rail to the oak grain, and bolted into the existing hardwood treads without touching a spindle. The beige seat sits unfolded at the bottom of the open-tread staircase, and the rail rides the right side of the straight run. The warm indoor tones match the home's original character.

Collett Park Dutch Colonial — curved rail around upper landing half-wall

Collett Park, IN Installed February 2026

A 1920s Dutch Colonial in Collett Park with a curved staircase, a mid-landing turn, and original hardwood millwork throughout. A straight rail was impossible. We digitally scanned the staircase geometry, custom-fabricated a curved rail that bends around the half-wall at the upper landing, and installed in a single afternoon. The brown-upholstered chair parks at the upper floor landing and Mrs. Patel swivels 90 degrees to step off onto the hallway floor. Framed art and the chandelier above remain untouched.

Springhill ranch — compact straight rail on stone-tile treads

Springhill, IN Installed January 2026

A 1960s ranch in Springhill with stone-tile treads and a compact stairway between the living area and the lower-level bedrooms. The brown-upholstered seat sits at the bottom of the stairs next to a wooden sideboard cabinet with a potted plant — the cozy traditional interior didn't lose an inch of its character. We fitted a slim-profile straight rail on the treads, and the folding footrest tucks the lift flush when parked. Mrs. Dawson walks past it to the kitchen without brushing the rail.

Deming raised entry — outdoor rail on stone-paved front porch steps

Deming, IN Installed December 2025

A raised-entry home in the Deming area with stone-paved front porch steps from the driveway to the covered entry. Mr. Harrison is a veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Roudebush VAMC. The cream-colored seat rides up the rough natural stone paving in full daylight, with a carpeted outdoor tread at the bottom landing. Every fastener is galvanized against Indiana's freeze-thaw cycles, and the weather-sealed motor housing carries an IP55 rating for rain and snow.

North Side colonial — carpeted stairs with swivel-exit at top landing

North Side, IN Installed November 2025

A postwar colonial on the North Side with 13 carpeted treads and a narrow newel post at the bottom. The brown-upholstered seat blends with the carpet tones on the landing, and wall-mounted light switches sit just above the rail line. Mrs. Whitfield's primary concern was stepping off at the top — she had watched her sister fall there two years earlier. We installed the swivel-exit seat that rotates 90 degrees at the upper landing, so she stands on the tiled hallway floor instead of the top step.

Platform Lift

South 7th Street — indoor wheelchair platform for half-flight access

South 7th Street, IN Installed October 2025

Mrs. Reyes uses a power wheelchair and needed access between the garage level and the main living area in her South 7th Street home — a half-flight of six indoor steps. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip deck and high-visibility yellow safety edges along the platform border. The white handrail runs the length of the indoor stairway, and the orange-toned walls and nearby window give the space warm natural light. PathWays for Aging through her MCE covered the majority of the installation cost. She rolls onto the platform, rides up, rolls off — no transfers required.

Common Questions

Everything Terre Haute Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Vigo County right now?

Straight rails in standard Terre Haute homes — the Farrington's Grove Victorians, the Collett Park bungalows, the Springhill ranches — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for split-levels with mid-landing turns, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and front porches run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices higher here than in Indianapolis or Evansville?

Equipment prices are the same across Indiana — we don't add a rural surcharge for Vigo County addresses. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original banisters in Farrington's Grove Victorian homes, compensating mounts for century-old tread wear, and the occasional dedicated-circuit upgrade in a pre-1950 bungalow with an undersized panel. We tell you every line item upfront. No surprises after we've started.

Is a refurbished stairlift worth considering for a Terre Haute home?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30-40% off a new install — we carry factory-reconditioned straight rails with new upholstery, new batteries, and a 2-year warranty. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never an option because the rail is custom-built to your specific staircase. If your home has a standard straight run, ask us about refurbished inventory during the assessment. We'll give you an honest answer about whether the savings justify it.

Any hidden fees for older Terre Haute homes?

Our quote covers everything: rail, seat, installation labor, battery backup, and the first service visit. The only add-on we occasionally see in older Vigo County homes — particularly Farrington's Grove and Collett Park — is a dedicated electrical circuit when the existing outlet can't handle the load. If that's needed, we tell you during the assessment, not after. A new circuit typically adds $200-$400 and is handled by our licensed electrician.

A word from Luis

Most Terre Haute families call me after something has already happened — a fall on the steep basement stairs in a Farrington's Grove Victorian, a parent who hasn't slept upstairs in three months after a hip replacement, a daughter in Indianapolis worried about her father in a Collett Park bungalow he's lived in for 40 years.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
