Stairlift Service Across Westchester County

Westchester County, NY

Tarrytown's housing stock spans two centuries. The North Grove Street Historic District has Italianate and Victorian homes from the 1840s — steep stairs, narrow treads, and tight landings where curved rails solve the geometry. Tarry Crest, up on the hill, holds mid-century ranches and split-levels, many with straight staircases where installs run 3 hours. Wilson Park is newer construction on the former estate grounds, with wide staircases and higher ceilings. Tappan Landing sits near the Hudson, a mix of single-family homes and cooperative communities where outdoor stairlifts handle the porch-to-driveway grade. The waterfront condos along the river and the Main Street area's mixed-use buildings round out the village — condos with tight entry stairs, older apartments above shops with no elevator.

Common Questions

Everything Tarrytown Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Tarrytown?

Straight stairlifts start at $2,800, curved lifts at $9,000. The price includes the rail, seat, installation, and a 5-year warranty. Outdoor lifts start at $4,000 and heavy-duty models at $5,050. Luis gives you a firm quote at the in-home assessment — no surprise fees, no high-pressure upsells.

Why are curved stairlifts more expensive in Tarrytown?

Tarrytown has a lot of 19th-century homes with winding staircases — the Victorians in the Grove Street district, the Italianates along Broadway. A curved rail is custom-bent for your exact stair geometry after a 1-hour laser measurement. The fabrication alone takes about two weeks. That custom work is the cost driver. A straight rail, by contrast, comes off the shelf and can be installed the same week.

Are there financing options for Tarrytown residents?

Yes. Financing starts at $79/month through a third-party lender. You can also pay by check or credit card. If you're a veteran, the VA HISA grant may cover the full cost — see the Funding tab for details.

Does the price include removal if I sell my Tarrytown home?

Removal is not included in the base price but runs about $300–$500. The rail leaves minimal marks on the treads — five bolt holes that fill and stain in under an hour. Many Tarrytown sellers leave the lift in place; it can be a selling point for older buyers looking at hillside homes here.

A word from Luis

I've put in more than 200 stairlifts in Tarrytown since 2010. The Victorians in the Grove Street district are the trickiest — 36-inch-wide staircases with winder turns that were built before building codes existed. A curved rail there needs to be bent to within an eighth of an inch after a laser measurement. But those installs are also the most satisfying. Seeing a homeowner who hasn't used their second floor in two years walk up those same stairs the day we finish — that's the job.

The other thing about Tarrytown is the hills. A lot of homes here have outdoor entry stairs — 6, 8, sometimes 12 steps up from the street. We do a fair number of outdoor straight lifts for those, especially in Tappan Landing and the streets climbing up from Broadway. Weather-sealed, IP55-rated, and they hold up through Hudson Valley winters with the salt air off the river.

— Luis Ramírez, Tarrytown
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

If you live in Tarrytown and the stairs are becoming a problem, you have options that work in these homes. The rail bolts to the treads — no wall drilling, no drywall repair. Most straight installs finish in a morning. Curved rails take about three weeks from laser measurement to install day. Every lift comes with battery backup that runs through the power outages we get during Hudson Valley winter storms.

Call Luis at (914) 555-0187 or fill out the form on this page. He'll come out to your home — Grove Street Victorian, Crest rancher, Wilson Park contemporary, whatever you're in — measure the stairs, and give you a firm price the same day. No high-pressure follow-up calls. He's been doing Tarrytown stairs for 15 years and he'll tell you honestly whether a lift makes sense for your layout.
