Stairlift Service Across Prince George's County

Prince George's County, MD

Summerfield sits within Greater Landover — a pocket of townhome communities tucked between the Capital Beltway and MD 202. The three-level Colonials in Palmer Park, the split-foyer homes in Kentland, and the newer builds off Arena Drive all share one thing: internal staircases with standard 30-to-36-inch widths. Curved installs come up frequently in the two-story foyer homes near the Sports Complex, while straight-rail installs dominate the narrow stairwells of the 1970s-era townhome rows. HOAs here — particularly those west of the stadium — rarely object to stairlift installs since the rail bolts to the treads and leaves walls untouched. We also serve Glenarden, Cheverly, Fairmount Heights, and Landover Hills with the same crew and same-day pricing.

Straight

Palmer Park Colonial — Straight Rail on Oak Treads

Palmer Park, MD Installed March 2026

Three-level Colonial on a quiet Palmer Park cul-de-sac. Fourteen oak treads, straight run from the front door to the upper hall. The Johnsons needed their mother to reach the second-floor bedroom without assistance. Our rail bolted to the treads in three hours — no wall damage, no repainting. Mrs. Johnson uses the lift twice daily now.

Kentland Split-Foyer — Curved Rail at 90-Degree Turn

Kentland, MD Installed February 2026

The Abernathys' Kentland split-foyer had a 90-degree turn at the bottom landing — six steps, then a turn, then another eight to the main floor. Not a candidate for a straight rail. We laser-measured the geometry in 45 minutes, fabricated the curved rail, and installed two weeks later. The seat now parks at the upper landing under a chandelier.

Landover Road Townhome — Straight Rail on Stone Tile

Greater Landover, MD Installed January 2026

Compact townhome off Landover Road, stone-tile treads on a narrow staircase next to a wooden sideboard. The owner worried about clearance — her hallway is tight. The seat folds to 14 inches at the wall and leaves room to pass. Straight rail, 15 treads, installed in under three hours.

Outdoor

Cheverly Rancher — Outdoor Rail on Stone Porch Steps

Cheverly, MD Installed December 2025

A Cheverly rancher with a front-porch entry — six stone-paved steps from the driveway to the door. Maryland winters ice those steps fast. We mounted an outdoor-rated rail with IP55 weather sealing and marine-grade components. The cream-colored seat parks under the porch overhang, out of direct rain. Installed in four hours, tested in a February freeze.

Glenarden Two-Story — Straight Rail on Carpeted Stairs

Glenarden, MD Installed February 2026

Carpeted staircase in a Glenarden two-story, standard residential build — 13 treads, medium-pile beige carpet that matched the new seat upholstery. The homeowner's father had started sleeping on the living room sofa because the climb upstairs felt too risky. One straight rail, bolted through the carpet to the treads beneath. He used the upstairs bedroom again that same evening.

Platform Lift

Fairmount Heights — Indoor Inclined Platform Lift

Fairmount Heights, MD Installed April 2026

Wheelchair user in a Fairmount Heights split-level — the staircase was the only barrier between her and her own bedroom. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift: flat black deck, yellow safety edges, white handrail. Rated to 600 lb, fits a standard manual wheelchair. The platform rides the rail on the wall side; the staircase remains open for others to walk up and down.

Common Questions

Everything Summerfield Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Summerfield, Maryland?

Straight-rail installs in Summerfield start at $2,800. Curved lifts, which need a custom rail bent to your staircase geometry, start at $9,000. The price covers the on-site measurement, the rail, the seat, battery backup, and the install. If you're in a three-level townhome near the Sports Complex, the straight-rail price holds — these are the most common installs we do in Summerfield, and they take about three hours.

Are there lower-cost stairlift options for Summerfield residents?

The $2,800 straight-rail unit is our base model and works for roughly 80% of Summerfield homes. Financing runs $79/month with approved credit. Maryland's Accessible Homes for Seniors program through DHCD also provides zero-interest loans for accessibility improvements to qualifying homeowners aged 55 and older — the income limits are published annually on the DHCD website.

Does insurance cover a stairlift in Summerfield?

Medicare Parts A and B do not cover stairlifts — they classify them as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans offer a $500–$1,000 allowance for accessibility items. Maryland's Community First Choice (CFC) Medicaid program can cover home modifications including stairlifts when prescribed as medically necessary. We can walk you through the CFC paperwork during your home assessment.

What drives the price difference between straight and curved stairlifts in a Summerfield townhome?

A straight stairlift starts at $2,800. A curved lift starts at $9,000. The difference comes from the custom-bent rail — fabricated to your exact stair turn after a one-hour laser measurement on site. In Summerfield's split-foyer homes, we often see 90-degree turns at the bottom landing that push the install into curved territory. Most three-level townhomes, however, have straight staircases and hit the $2,800 price point.

A word from Luis

Folks in Summerfield always ask the same question when I show up: 'Will the rail block the hallway?' In these three-level townhomes off Landover Road, that answer matters — the staircases are central, and the hallway is tight. The rail folds up at the landing. Takes 18 inches when parked. You still have room to pass.

I've installed lifts in Palmer Park Colonials with 16 steps to the top floor, Kentland split-foyers with that half-flight geometry, and the newer builds off Arena Drive where the staircase turns 90 degrees at the bottom landing. Each one is different. Each one takes about three hours.

If your mom is sleeping downstairs because the stairs are too much — that's the call I take most often around here. It doesn't have to be that way.

— Luis Ramírez, Summerfield
