Straight Stairlift

Lane County Bestseller

The workhorse of Springfield's Craftsman bungalows, postwar ranches, and Gateway tract homes. Over 65% of the stairlifts we install across Lane County are straight rails. The rail bolts to your stair treads — never into the wall — the seat and footrest fold flat, and the moisture-spec motor is sealed against the Willamette Valley humidity that corrodes standard units within two seasons.

Stairlift Service Across Lane County

Lane County, OR

From the 1918 Craftsman homes of the Washburne Historic District — original fir treads, north-facing walls that trap moisture, and the steep narrow staircases of that era — to the 1960s split-levels in North Springfield with their classic mid-landing turns, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in the city. We know which Thurston two-stories have the wide stairs that need extended brackets, which Gateway ranches have the mossy front steps that demand marine-grade outdoor rails, which Downtown Tudor cottages need slim-profile curved rails to clear tight foyers, and which Mohawk rural properties have the short-rise entry that calls for a compact platform lift. No travel fees across Lane County.

1918 Washburne District Craftsman — straight rail on original fir treads, moisture-spec motor

Washburne Historic District, OR Installed March 2026

A 1918 Craftsman in the Washburne Historic District with original Douglas fir treads and a north-facing exterior wall that traps moisture year-round. Mrs. Henderson had been sleeping downstairs for four months after a knee replacement at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart. Her son in Portland called on a Monday. We measured Tuesday, installed Thursday. The rail bolts into the fir treads only — never touched the oak banister, never drilled the plaster walls. We specified the IP54-sealed motor to handle the persistent humidity from that north-facing wall. She told us the fir creaks the same as it always did.

Downtown Tudor cottage — slim curved rail matched to 1935 fir grain, tight foyer clearance

Downtown, OR Installed February 2026

A 1935 Tudor cottage in Downtown Springfield with a curved staircase that opens into a foyer barely six feet wide. Mr. Kowalski's first condition: the rail cannot block the front door swing. We laser-scanned the staircase, designed a slim-profile curved rail that hugs the inside wall, and parked the seat at the bottom where it folds flat against the newel post with four inches of clearance from the door arc. The rail finish was color-matched to the original fir grain. Mrs. Kowalski uses it four to six times a day after her second hip replacement.

North Springfield split-level — straight rail on carpeted lower flight, pre-surgery install

North Springfield, OR Installed January 2026

A 1967 split-level in North Springfield where the lower flight from the garage entry to the main floor is a standard straight run with deep-pile carpet. Mr. Nguyen needed the lift installed before his scheduled hip replacement at PeaceHealth RiverBend. We used extended lag bolts to penetrate through the carpet and padding into the structural subfloor, torque-tested every anchor, and installed the slim-fold seat that parks flat at the top landing. The folding footrest keeps the carpeted stairway clear for the rest of the family. Three hours from arrival to first ride.

Thurston front porch — weather-sealed outdoor rail on concrete steps, post-surgery discharge install

Thurston, OR Installed December 2025

A 1986 two-story in Thurston with a raised front porch and six exterior concrete steps that became impassable after Mr. Barrett's hip replacement at PeaceHealth RiverBend. His discharge was held up because the surgeon would not clear him for the front steps. We installed a marine-grade outdoor rail with epoxy-coated brackets, IP55-sealed motor housing, and stainless-steel fasteners rated for Willamette Valley rain. The discharge planner received install photos on a Thursday and Mr. Barrett came home on Friday. The rail has run through two full Oregon winters without corrosion.

Gateway ranch — straight rail beside hall console on vinyl-plank treads

Gateway, OR Installed November 2025

A 1990s ranch in Gateway with vinyl-plank stair treads and a hall console at the base of the stairs that Mrs. Patterson refused to move. The compact stairway is typical of the Gateway tract homes from that era — narrow footprint, builder-grade finishes, furniture close to the landing. We mounted the straight rail on the right side of the treads, positioned the seat so it parks at the bottom beside the console with the family photos still in place, and the folding footrest clears the hallway traffic path completely. The vinyl-plank surface required slightly deeper pilot holes to reach the plywood subfloor beneath.

Platform Lift

Mohawk rural ranch — indoor wheelchair platform lift for short-rise entry, K Plan funded

Mohawk, OR Installed October 2025

A rural ranch property in Mohawk with a five-step interior rise between the garage entry and the main living level. Mrs. Morrison uses a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal cord injury and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift with a flat black anti-slip platform surface, bright yellow high-visibility pressure-sensitive safety edges on all sides, and automatic folding ramps at both levels. Oregon's K Plan through Lane Council of Governments covered the full installation cost. Zero out of pocket. The authorization took three weeks from the initial DHS case manager referral.

Common Questions

Everything Springfield Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Springfield right now?

Straight rails in standard Springfield homes — the Washburne District Craftsman bungalows, the Gateway ranches, the Thurston two-stories — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you will need for North Springfield split-levels with mid-landing turns, Downtown Tudor cottages with tight foyers, and any staircase with a 90-degree change, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models with marine-grade hardware for Oregon's rain and moss run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Springfield than Eugene or Bend?

Equipment prices are the same across Oregon — we do not inflate quotes based on address. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: moisture-spec motor selection in Washburne District homes with north-facing exterior walls, marine-grade anchoring on mossy Gateway front steps, and curved-rail fabrication for North Springfield split-levels. We tell you the line items upfront. No zip-code premiums.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30 to 40 percent off a new install — we carry factory-reconditioned straight rails with new upholstery, tested motors, and fresh batteries. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never an option because the rail is custom-manufactured to a specific staircase. If your Lane County home has a standard straight run, ask us about refurbished inventory during the assessment.

Does Oregon require a contractor license for this work?

Yes — Oregon law requires every paid contractor to hold a Construction Contractors Board license. Ours is on file and printed on every written quote. Under ORS 701, unlicensed contracting is a class A misdemeanor and voids any contract. If a competitor will not show you a CCB number, do not let them in the house. Verify any contractor at search.ccb.state.or.us.

A word from Luis

Most Springfield families call after a fall on stairs they have used for decades — the original fir staircase in a Washburne District Craftsman, a split-level in North Springfield where the knees finally gave out, an outdoor entry in Thurston where Oregon moss turned the concrete into a skating rink. My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. Every Lane County install includes the moisture-spec motor and marine-grade hardware — standard, not an upcharge.
