Stairlift Service Across Lane County

Lane County, OR

From the Craftsman bungalows of Jefferson Westside and the Whiteaker — steep fir stairs, narrow stairwells, original woodwork maintained through a century of Oregon rain — to the split-level homes of South Hills where elevated entries create multiple stair runs, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in Lane County. The Friendly neighborhood Craftsman homes south of 18th share an identical steep, straight staircase that installs in under three hours. Cal Young ranch homes from the 1960s often have four or five entry steps that become the real mobility barrier. South University homes near the UO campus frequently need the folding-rail option for tight turns. Outdoor installs here face moss and algae on any north-facing concrete — our rails are marine-grade epoxy coated with IP54-sealed anti-mold motor housings built for the Willamette Valley.

Straight

1912 Jefferson Westside Craftsman — straight rail on original fir treads

Jefferson Westside, OR Installed March 2026

A 1912 Craftsman in Jefferson Westside with original fir treads and a stairwell that runs along the exterior north wall — the dampest wall in the house. Mrs. Thornton's physician wrote the medical necessity letter after her third fall on the stairs during a wet February. We matched the rail finish to the warm honey tone of the original fir, bolted directly into the hardwood treads without touching the banister or original spindles, and installed an IP54-sealed motor housing with anti-mold gaskets. The seat parks at the bottom landing, folded against the wall, and blends into the century-old woodwork.

Curved

South Hills split-level — curved rail with 90° turn at the upper landing

South Hills, OR Installed February 2026

A 1968 split-level in South Hills with an elevated entry, a formal staircase, and a 90° turn at the upper hallway. The home has the kind of modern, upscale interior common in the neighborhood — a chandelier above the landing, framed art along the stairwell wall, and a half-wall balustrade at the top. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a single curved rail that bends cleanly around the upper turn, and installed a powered-swivel seat that parks at the top floor so Mrs. Nakamura's mother steps off onto the flat hallway. One continuous ride from entry level to bedrooms, no transfers.

Friendly neighborhood cottage — straight rail in a compact traditional stairwell

Friendly, OR Installed January 2026

A 1923 Craftsman cottage on a quiet block south of 18th Avenue with a compact interior staircase, stone-tile treads at the base, and a wooden sideboard tucked against the wall at the bottom landing. The Sorensens had maintained the original finishes for 45 years and didn't want anything bulky dominating the narrow entry. We installed a straight rail with the compact-profile seat that folds flat against the wall when parked — clearing the sideboard by three inches and leaving the cottage feel of the space intact. Mr. Sorensen tested it the same afternoon and a dinner guest later asked when the stairs had been refinished, not realizing there was a stairlift.

South University porch — outdoor lift on stone-paved entry steps

South University, OR Installed December 2025

A 1940s home south of the UO campus with north-facing stone-paved front porch steps and a covered entry that catches every drop of Willamette Valley rain. Mr. Warren slipped twice on the mossy stone in the same winter and stopped using his front door entirely. We mounted a weather-sealed outdoor rail along the stone entry, installed a cream-colored weather-resistant seat with a marine-grade epoxy coating, and sealed the motor housing to IP54 with anti-mold gaskets. The rail track includes a debris channel that sheds moss and leaf litter away from the gearing. Mr. Warren uses his front door again — two Oregon winters without a service call.

Cal Young ranch — straight rail on carpeted stairs at the landing

Cal Young, OR Installed November 2025

A 1971 raised ranch in Cal Young where the carpeted staircase between the entry and the upper bedrooms had become Mrs. Gustafson's daily obstacle after a hip replacement. The carpet-covered treads and the landing area made for a straightforward install — we bolted the rail through the carpet into the wooden substructure beneath, no carpet removal needed. The brown upholstery on the seat matches the carpet tones closely enough that the lift doesn't clash with the hallway. Mrs. Gustafson uses it ten times a day and her physical therapist approved it within a week of installation.

Platform Lift

Whiteaker home — inclined wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Whiteaker, OR Installed October 2025

A two-story home in the Whiteaker where Mrs. Bjornsen's daughter uses a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal cord injury. A seated stairlift was not an option — she needed to ride her chair between floors. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway: a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges on every moving surface, a white handrail on the wall side, and automatic folding ramps at both landings. The platform rides the stair angle, carrying the wheelchair and rider from the ground floor to the upper hallway. The orange-toned plaster walls and the window along the stairwell stayed untouched — the lift mounts to the treads only.

Common Questions

Everything Eugene Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Lane County right now?

Straight rails in standard Eugene homes — the Jefferson Westside bungalows, the Friendly Craftsman homes, the Cal Young ranches — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for South Hills split-levels and any staircase with a mid-landing turn run $9,000 to $15,000. Outdoor models for mossy front steps and elevated entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, moisture-spec battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Eugene than Portland or Bend?

Equipment prices are the same across Oregon. What varies in Eugene is the Willamette Valley moisture-spec hardware — IP54-sealed motor housings, anti-mold gaskets, treated motor windings — which is standard on every install, not an upcharge. Older Craftsman homes also require more careful mounting than newer construction. Line items are on the quote upfront.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30–40% — we carry factory-reconditioned straight rails with new upholstery, new batteries, and a 2-year warranty. Every refurbished unit ships with the same Willamette Valley moisture spec as a new install. For curved rails, refurbished almost never works because every curved rail is custom-fabricated. Ask during the assessment.

Is the assessment really free?

Yes. A CCB-licensed installer drives to your home, measures with a laser, walks your staircase with you, answers every question, and leaves you with a written quote. No charge for the visit, no obligation to buy, no follow-up pressure calls. The quote is good for 30 days. If you want to compare with another company or talk it over with family first, the number doesn't change.

A word from Luis

Most Eugene families call me after the rain makes it official — a slip on the mossy front steps, a parent who stopped going upstairs because damp mornings make the joints worse, a daughter in Portland worried about her father alone in a Friendly neighborhood Craftsman he's lived in since 1978.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
