Straight Stairlift

Bestseller

The workhorse of Spartanburg's mill-village homes, Craftsman bungalows, and postwar ranches. Over 70% of the stairlifts we install in Spartanburg County are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the battery backup keeps you moving through the next thunderstorm outage. Most Spartanburg installs wrap in under four hours. Every unit ships with a humidity-rated lubricant spec for the Upstate climate.

Stairlift Service Across Spartanburg County

Spartanburg County, SC

From the mill-village worker housing of Drayton and Saxon — where steep, narrow stairs with original heart-pine treads date to the 1910s and 1920s — to the Craftsman bungalows and colonials of Converse Heights and Hampton Heights, where we regularly thread custom rails past original oak banisters and decorative millwork, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in Spartanburg. We know which Hampton Heights homes have the tight turn at the upper landing that requires a curved rail, which Drayton mill houses have the steep straight run that needs a swivel-exit seat at the top, and which Hillbrook Forest 1980s two-stories have the standard carpeted 14-step run that wraps in three hours. We also serve the surrounding towns — Arkwright, Whitney, Saxon, Ben Avon, and Hilltop — without travel fees.

1918 Converse Heights Craftsman — rail color-matched to original oak banister

Converse Heights, SC Installed March 2026

A 1918 Craftsman bungalow in Converse Heights with an original quarter-sawn oak banister and Arts & Crafts newel post the family refused to alter. Mrs. Lawson's son drove down from Charlotte after his mother's second fall on the stairs in six months. We brought finish samples on the first visit, matched the rail to the oak grain, and bolted a straight rail into the treads without grazing a single spindle. The beige seat folds flat against the wall and the warm-toned rail disappears against the woodwork. Battery backup carried her through two spring thunderstorm outages in the first month.

90° landing turn in a 1925 Hampton Heights colonial

Hampton Heights, SC Installed February 2026

A 1925 colonial in Hampton Heights with a 90° turn at the upper landing and a decorative oak newel post that Mrs. Worthy said was 'older than both of us put together.' We digitally scanned the staircase during the first visit, fabricated a curved rail that threads past the newel with two inches of clearance, and installed in one afternoon. The seat parks at the upper hallway so she steps off directly onto the landing. The framed photographs along the stairwell wall stayed in place throughout the install.

1915 Drayton mill house — compact rail on original heart-pine treads

Drayton, SC Installed January 2026

A 1915 Drayton mill house with the steep, narrow staircase typical of Spartanburg textile-village worker housing. The original heart-pine treads are worn smooth from a century of use. Mrs. Gosnell's biggest concern was her grandchildren — they visit every weekend and needed to pass on the stairs. We specified the slim-profile compact rail and folding seat so the stairway stays passable when the lift is parked at the top. The swivel-exit seat at the upper landing lets her step off safely on the narrow hallway.

North Spartanburg raised porch — weather-sealed for Upstate humidity

North Spartanburg, SC Installed December 2025

A 1960s ranch in North Spartanburg with a raised front porch and six concrete steps. Mr. Bridges is an Army veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Spartanburg CBOC. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103, the prescription came back in five weeks, and the lift was installed the week after. Every bracket is coated against Upstate humidity, the motor housing is sealed, and the battery backup kept it running through two summer thunderstorms in the first month. The cream-colored weather-resistant seat rides from the walkway to the covered porch.

Hillbrook Forest two-story — swivel-exit on carpeted stairs

Hillbrook Forest, SC Installed November 2025

A 1985 two-story in Hillbrook Forest with 14 carpeted treads and a tight newel post at the bottom. Mrs. Sisk's biggest worry wasn't the ride — it was stepping off at the top. Her husband had fallen there twice. We installed the swivel-exit seat that rotates 90° at the upper landing so she steps off facing the hallway, not the stairs. The rail bolts through the carpet and pad into the subfloor with extended lag bolts, and the brown-upholstered seat blends with the carpet color at the landing.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform in a Saxon split-level

Saxon, SC Installed October 2025

The Patterson family's father uses a power wheelchair after a stroke. Their Saxon home has a split-level entry with four steps between the garage and the main floor. We installed an inclined platform lift with yellow high-visibility safety edges, a fold-up deck when not in use, and a keyed call/send station so the rest of the family can operate it from either level. The platform rides along the indoor stairway and the yellow safety edges are pressure-sensitive on all sides. His HISA grant through the Spartanburg CBOC covered most of the cost.

Common Questions

Everything Spartanburg Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Spartanburg County right now?

Straight rails in standard Spartanburg homes — the Converse Heights bungalows, the Drayton mill houses, the Hillbrook Forest two-stories — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for homes with mid-landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches and back entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Spartanburg than Greenville or Columbia?

Equipment prices are the same across South Carolina — we don't inflate quotes for Converse Heights or discount for Drayton. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original heart-pine banisters in mill-village homes, compensating for century-old tread wear, and the occasional electrical upgrade in a pre-1940 house that still runs a 60-amp panel. We tell you the line items upfront. No regional markups.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30-40% off a new install — we carry factory-reconditioned straight rails with new upholstery, new batteries, and a 2-year warranty. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never available because the rail is custom-manufactured to a specific staircase. If your Spartanburg home has a standard straight run, ask us about refurbished inventory during the free assessment.

Do I need to verify the SC Residential Builders license?

Yes — South Carolina requires an LLR Residential Specialty Contractor registration for work under $5,000 and a full Residential Builder license for work over $5,000. Both require a surety bond. Verify at verify.llronline.com and check that the bond is active — an expired bond is the single most common problem we see on LLR printouts. Our LLR number is on every written quote.

A word from Luis

Most Spartanburg families call me after something has already happened — a slip on the hardwood stairs in a Converse Heights bungalow, a parent who hasn't been upstairs in months because the steep mill-village stairs are too much after knee surgery, a daughter in Greenville worried about her mother alone in a Hampton Heights colonial she's lived in for 40 years.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
