Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Brunswick County

Brunswick County, NC

We cover all of Southport and nearby Brunswick County. The National Register Historic District around Bay and Howe Streets is full of 1880s–1900s Victorians with narrow heart-pine treads, where a slim straight rail protects the original woodwork. Cottage-style homes in The Hammocks and Indigo Plantation often have a turn at the upper landing that calls for a curved rail. We also serve Deep Water Heights, Highland Heights, and Marsh Creek, plus the adjacent gated golf community of St. James. Anywhere near the Cape Fear River, porch and exterior lifts are marine-grade and sealed against salt air.

Straight

Historic District — straight rail on heart-pine Victorian stairs

Historic District, NC Installed March 2026

An 1892 Victorian on East Bay Street with original heart-pine treads running straight to the second floor. After knee surgery the homeowner could no longer manage the climb, so we bolted a slim straight rail to the treads and set the beige seat at the bottom landing — the 1890s woodwork stayed untouched.

The Hammocks — curved rail at the upper landing

The Hammocks, NC Installed February 2026

A two-story cottage in The Hammocks with a 90-degree stair turn at the upper landing. The owner wanted to keep using the upstairs master suite after a hip replacement, so we fabricated a curved rail to match the bend and parked the seat at the top floor with a powered swivel.

Highland Heights — straight rail on stone cottage treads

Highland Heights, NC Installed January 2026

A compact cottage in Highland Heights with stone-tread stairs near a wooden sideboard. The homeowner needed a solution after a fall on the slick stone, so we anchored a straight rail using a tile-and-stone bracket system and set the seat at the base near the cabinet.

Indigo Plantation — outdoor lift on a riverfront porch

Indigo Plantation, NC Installed April 2026

Marsh Creek — carpeted straight rail

Marsh Creek, NC Installed May 2026

A brick traditional home in Marsh Creek with carpeted stairs and a tiled floor at the base. We matched the warm tan carpet to the brown stairlift seat so the rail blends into the staircase, and set the seat at the lower landing.

Deep Water Heights — indoor wheelchair platform lift

Deep Water Heights, NC Installed March 2026

A split-level home in Deep Water Heights where the owner uses a wheelchair full-time. Instead of a seat, we installed an indoor inclined platform lift — a flat black deck with yellow safety edges and a white handrail — so the wheelchair rolls straight on and off at each level.

Common Questions

Everything Southport Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a stairlift cost in Southport?

A straight stairlift in Southport starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts, custom-built for stairs that turn or have a landing — common in The Hammocks and Indigo Plantation cottages — start at $9,000. Outdoor lifts begin at $4,000 and heavy-duty models at $5,050. Your final price depends on rail length and the number of turns.

Does Medicare or insurance cover a stairlift in Brunswick County?

No. Medicare and most health insurance classify stairlifts as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. Brunswick County residents have other paths: the VA HISA grant for veterans, North Carolina's CAP/DA Medicaid waiver, and a medical-expense tax deduction with a doctor's letter.

Why does a curved stairlift cost more than a straight one?

A straight rail is a standard part cut to length. A curved rail is custom-fabricated to match your exact stair geometry — the turn radius, the landing, the pitch. That custom fabrication, common for Southport's winding Victorian staircases, is what drives the price difference.

Are there financing options in Southport?

Yes. We offer plans starting at $79/month with 0% and low-APR options through lending partners. Approval uses a soft credit pull with no prepayment penalty. Many Southport homeowners combine financing with VA benefits or the CAP/DA Medicaid waiver.

A word from Luis

Southport is one of my favorite towns to work in, but the historic Victorian homes on the National Register come with staircases built in the 1880s and 1890s — narrow heart-pine treads, tight landings, no two alike. Off Bay Street and Howe Street I almost always fit a slim-profile rail that bolts to the treads so the original woodwork stays put.

The other thing here is the water. So close to the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic, any porch or exterior lift has to be marine-grade and sealed against salt air and hurricane-season rain. For homes in The Hammocks or out at St. James, where the porches and entries sit higher, that weatherproof outdoor model is usually the right call.
