Stairlift Service Across Putnam County

Putnam County, NY

Brewster Village: 1850s Greek Revivals and Colonials on Oak Street have steep, narrow staircases — typically 32 to 34 inches wide — where a slim-rail straight lift fits without touching the original trim.

Brewster Hill & Brewster Heights: built up in the 1960s and 70s, are heavy on split-levels with half-flight landings, often needing a custom-curved rail to handle the 90-degree turn.

Drewville Heights: larger Colonials on acre-plus lots have wide staircases — 38 to 42 inches — giving you more rail and seat options.

Peach Lake: mixes 1950s lake cottages with newer year-round homes, where outdoor lifts need IP55 weather sealing to ride out Hudson Valley winters.

Common Questions

Everything Southeast Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost in Southeast?

A straight stairlift in Southeast starts at $2,800 installed. That covers the rail, seat, battery backup, and labor for a single straight staircase — the kind common in Brewster village Colonials and Drewville Heights split-levels. Longer rails add about $80 per extra foot, and we give you a firm written number at the free assessment.

What does a curved stairlift cost for a Southeast home?

Curved stairlifts in Southeast start at $9,000. The difference reflects the custom manufacturing: a technician spends about an hour laser-measuring your staircase's exact turn geometry, then the rail is bent to match. Lead time from measurement to install is typically two weeks.

Are there any Southeast or Putnam County permits or inspections I need?

No. Residential stairlift installations in the Town of Southeast do not require a building permit. The lift bolts to the stair treads — not the walls — so it's classified as an appliance, not a structural modification. We handle the work in a single visit.

What financing is available for a stairlift in Southeast?

We offer financing starting at $79/month for qualified buyers. We also help Southeast families work through funding that doesn't involve monthly payments: the VA HISA grant (up to $6,800 for service-connected veterans) and New York's NHTD Medicaid Waiver, which can cover a stairlift as an Environmental Modification.

A word from Luis

I've worked on just about every kind of staircase the Town of Southeast has. The 1850s Greek Revivals in Brewster village give you 32 inches to work with and original trim you can't touch, so I bolt the rail straight to the treads and leave the woodwork alone. The 1960s and 70s split-levels up in Brewster Hill and Drewville Heights are the ones that usually need a custom-curved rail for the half-flight landing.

Winters out here near the Croton Watershed reservoirs are real — ice storms, single-digit nights. My outdoor installs around Peach Lake are IP55-sealed and freeze-thaw tested so the lift still runs after a hard cold snap. If you're not sure your stairs can take a lift, have me come measure. It's free and it answers every question in about 45 minutes.
