Common Questions

Everything Heritage Hills Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost at Heritage Hills, Somers NY?

A straight stairlift in a Heritage Hills Valley View or East Hill condo starts at $2,800 fully installed. Curved rails for Ridge Crest split-level mid-landing turns start at $9,000. Outdoor units for patio entries start at $4,000; heavy-duty 600 lb units start at $5,050. Narrow-carriage options for Plum Brook's 32-inch staircases are priced within the straight range — we quote after measuring the tread width.

Are there extra fees for Heritage Hills HOA stairlift approval?

We have never been charged a Heritage Hills condo board fee for a stairlift approval. The rail bolts to the treads, leaves no structural mark, and is classified as removable medical equipment — each of the 30 condo groups has approved installs on this basis. We handle board notification paperwork as part of the install process at no extra charge.

What is the monthly payment on a Heritage Hills stairlift?

Financing starts at $79/month with 0% APR through Synchrony, subject to credit approval. A $2,800 straight install over 60 months runs about $79/mo; a $9,000 curved unit over 84 months runs about $130/mo. We run your rate during the in-home measure so the number is firm before you commit.

Does Medicare cover stairlifts at Heritage Hills in Westchester County?

No — Medicare Part A and B do not cover stairlifts because they are classified as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. New York's NHTD Waiver (Nursing Home Transition and Diversion) covers home modifications including stairlifts for Medicaid-eligible residents who meet nursing-home level of care. Veterans may qualify for the VA HISA grant up to $6,800 through the White Plains VA Clinic at 23 South Broadway.

A word from Luis

Heritage Hills of Westchester is one of the most concentrated senior communities I work in anywhere in the Northeast. The 2,600 condos in Plum Brook, Ridge Crest, and Valley View were built in waves from 1974 through 2006, and the stair geometry shifts by decade and by model. The early 1970s units in Plum Brook run narrow — 32-inch wide carriages, tight newel posts at the landing, treads that measure 8.5 inches deep instead of the modern 10. The 1990s and 2000s additions in Valley View opened up to standard 36-inch runs, which gives me more options on rail width and carriage style.

The key question at every Heritage Hills unit is whether the condo board for that specific group allows interior modifications. There are 30 separate condo groups, each with its own elected board. We have installed in enough of them to know the rules, and stairlifts are almost always approved because the rail bolts to the treads — no drywall, no structural work, nothing that the board can object to under the community's governing documents. For veterans, the HISA grant covers up to $6,800 through the White Plains VA Clinic on South Broadway, and for Medicaid-eligible residents, New York's NHTD Waiver covers home modifications. I walk every Heritage Hills family through the paperwork before we schedule the install date.

— Luis Ramírez, Heritage Hills
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Heritage Hills' 30 condo groups each run under their own board, but in 15+ years of installing here we have never been turned down — the rail bolts to the treads, leaves no structural footprint, and qualifies as a removable medical device under New York's Fair Housing accessibility rules. We measure your specific unit, quote rail-to-rail, and walk your NHTD or HISA paperwork before the install date.

If your parent in Plum Brook or Ridge Crest is starting to avoid the upstairs bedroom, call us. We come to Heritage Hills, take tread-by-tread measurements, and give you a firm number the same day — including whether the NHTD Waiver or the White Plains VA HISA grant will cover the install.
