Stairlift Service Across Los Angeles County

Los Angeles County, CA

South San Jose Hills, an unincorporated Los Angeles County community in the San Gabriel Valley, sits bordered by West Covina to the north, Walnut to the east, La Puente to the west, and the City of Industry to the south. The Covina Hills mobile home community along Temple Avenue and the Timberline residential pocket near the northern edge are two of the area's most recognized clusters. Homes here — predominantly single-story ranches from the 1950s through early 1970s — tend to have standard-width staircases that accept a straight rail without modification. The Amar Road corridor and streets near Sunset Avenue feature compact lots where indoor rail placement matters because floor space is tight.

Common Questions

Everything South San Jose Hills Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in South San Jose Hills?

A straight stairlift in South San Jose Hills starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts, which are custom-built for staircases with turns or landings, start at $9,000. Outdoor models for porch or hillside entry access start at $4,000, and heavy-duty units rated to 600 lb start at $5,050. Every quote includes the in-home assessment, rail fabrication, installation, and a 5-year warranty with lifetime rail coverage. Financing runs from $79/month.

Do you charge extra for homes in unincorporated South San Jose Hills?

No. Being unincorporated Los Angeles County doesn't affect the price. The install team comes from the same San Gabriel Valley service area that covers La Puente, West Covina, Walnut, and Rowland Heights. There is no travel surcharge and no county-permit upcharge for stairlift installation inside a private residence.

How much does a curved stairlift cost for a split-level home in South San Jose Hills?

Curved stairlifts start at $9,000. The final price depends on the number of turns and the total rail length. The hillside properties on the north side of the community — the split-levels and two-story homes near Timberline — typically need one 90° turn plus a landing stretch. Luis does a 1-hour laser measurement on site and delivers a firm quote before any work starts.

Is there a cheaper alternative to a full curved stairlift?

Sometimes, yes. If your staircase has a straight upper section and a straight lower section separated by a flat landing, we can sometimes install two straight lifts instead of one curved rail. This runs roughly $5,600 total versus $9,000+. It works only on specific layouts — Luis will tell you during the assessment whether your stairs qualify.

A word from Luis

South San Jose Hills is mostly single-story ranch homes built between the 1950s and early 1970s — that actually makes for a quick straight-rail install, usually three hours. Where it gets trickier is the hillside properties on the north edge, where you get split-levels and two-story homes with tighter stairwells. Those need a custom curved rail. I've put lifts into homes on Temple Avenue, in the Covina Hills area, along Amar Road — pretty much every street in the 91744. The one thing every homeowner here asks about is whether the rail has to go into the wall. It doesn't. We bolt straight into the treads, so the drywall stays untouched.

For the veterans in this community — and there are quite a few, with the San Gabriel Valley VA Clinic just 20 minutes up the 605 in Arcadia — I always bring up the HISA grant during the free assessment. $6,800 for service-connected, $2,000 otherwise. One-time, tax-free, never repaid. The paperwork is two forms. I walk families through both of them at the kitchen table during the estimate.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

South San Jose Hills sits in a practical spot — unincorporated, residential, close to the 60 Freeway, and 23 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The housing stock, mostly built between 1955 and 1975, is straightforward to work with: standard-width interior staircases, plenty of single-story layouts, and tread materials — hardwood, carpet, tile — that all accept bolt-through rail mounting without structural changes.

If your mom or dad lives in the 91744 and the stairs are becoming the daily worry, call Luis at (626) area. He'll come out, measure, walk through the Medi-Cal EAA benefit or the HISA grant paperwork, and give you a firm quote on the spot. Most installs in this community wrap in three to four hours. No drywall damage. No rewiring. Just a working lift, same day.
