Over 70% of the stairlifts we install across South Hill are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the battery backup keeps you moving through the next winter storm. Every western Washington install ships with a condensation-resistant lubricant as baseline spec. Most South Hill installs wrap in under four hours.

Stairlift Service Across Pierce County

Pierce County, WA

The Sunrise master-planned community is South Hill's largest neighborhood — 1,501 acres of single-family homes, townhomes, and condominiums with Mt. Rainier views. Most homes are 1990s–2000s two-story construction with 13–15 carpeted treads and every bedroom upstairs. Straight-rail installs here wrap in under four hours.

Manorwood is the established upscale neighborhood — larger lots, mature landscaping, and homes from the late 1980s with curved staircases and hardwood foyers that require custom-fabricated rails. Lipoma Firs and Silvercreek include townhomes and single-family homes where narrow stairwells require our slim-profile model. Gem Heights has 1980s ramblers with split-level entries — a half-flight most residents overlook until it becomes a fall risk. We also serve Frederickson, Puyallup, and Orting on a same-day schedule.

Manorwood two-story — beige-seat rail on original oak treads in the front hall

Manorwood, WA Installed March 2026

A 1992 two-story in Manorwood with original oak treads and a warm wood banister in the front hall. The Lindgrens had lived there since the house was new and Mrs. Lindgren was adamant that a stairlift should not make her foyer look like a medical facility. We bolted the beige-seat rail directly into the oak treads without touching the banister, the wall, or the newel post. The rail runs along the right side and the seat parks flush at the bottom landing. Her daughter said the rail blends into the oak so naturally she walked past it on her first visit without registering it.

Curved staircase in a Manorwood foyer — brown-seat rail threaded past the oak banister

Manorwood, WA Installed February 2026

A late-1990s Manorwood home with a curved staircase and decorative oak banister that was the visual centerpiece of the two-story foyer. Mr. Choi's mother moved in after a hip fracture and needed a way upstairs that didn't involve her son carrying her. We digitally scanned the staircase, fabricated a curved rail that follows the exact geometry of the turn, and installed a brown-seat chair that parks flush at the upper landing with a 90° swivel exit onto the hallway floor. A modern interior with a chandelier above and framed artwork on the walls — the kind of home where the lift has to disappear, and it does.

Gem Heights rambler — brown-seat compact rail at a split-level entry

Gem Heights, WA Installed January 2026

A 1985 rambler in Gem Heights with a split-level entry — five steps from the garage level to the main floor, stone-tile treads, and a wooden shoe bench at the base that the family refused to move. Mrs. Nakamura had been stepping around the bench and gripping the railing for two years before her daughter insisted on a consultation. We mounted the brown-seat rail along the wall side, ran the track past the shoe bench with clearance to spare, and added a folding footrest so the chair parks tight against the wall. A compact, cozy space where every inch counted.

Sunrise community — cream-seat outdoor lift on the stone-paved front entry

Sunrise, WA Installed December 2025

A Sunrise home with a raised front entry — six stone-paved steps between the walkway and the front door, fully exposed to the Pacific Northwest rain. Mr. Kowalski is a retired Army sergeant who spent 22 years at JBLM and qualified for a HISA grant through the American Lake VA campus. We installed a cream-seat outdoor lift on the stone-paved entry with marine-grade epoxy rail coating and stainless fasteners rated for Puget Sound moisture. Natural daylight floods the covered porch and the weather-resistant seat upholstery has held through two Pacific Northwest winters without fading or mildew. His HISA grant covered the majority of the cost.

Sunrise two-story — brown-seat rail on carpeted stairs before knee surgery

Sunrise, WA Installed November 2025

A 2001 two-story in the Sunrise community with 14 carpeted treads, a tiled landing at the top, and every bedroom on the second floor. Mrs. Caldwell was scheduled for a total knee replacement at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup the following month and needed the lift working before discharge. We assessed on Tuesday, installed the brown-seat rail on Thursday, and she rode it home eleven days later. The seat color matches the brown carpet almost exactly, and the swivel-exit at the top rotates so she steps off onto the tiled hallway floor safely.

Platform Lift

Silvercreek — indoor wheelchair platform lift for a JBLM veteran

Silvercreek, WA Installed October 2025

The Hernandez family's son was injured during deployment and now uses a power wheelchair. Their Silvercreek home has five steps from the garage level to the main floor — an indoor stairway with warm-toned walls and a window at the mid-landing. A seated stairlift was not an option because he cannot transfer out of the chair. We installed an inclined platform lift with a flat black anti-slip deck, yellow high-visibility safety edges, and a white safety handrail. The HISA grant through VA Puget Sound's American Lake campus covered the full cost. The platform folds up flush against the wall when not in use, and the keyed call station at the lower landing lets him summon it from the garage entry.

Common Questions

Everything South Hill Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost on South Hill right now?

Straight rails in standard South Hill homes — the Sunrise two-stories, the Silvercreek colonials, the newer Lipoma Firs townhomes — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for Manorwood homes with decorative landings or Gem Heights split-level entries run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different on South Hill than in Tacoma or Puyallup?

Equipment prices are the same across Pierce County — we don't inflate quotes for Manorwood addresses or discount them for Frederickson. What varies is the install type: the curved staircases in older Manorwood homes need a custom rail, while the builder-grade two-stories in Sunrise and Silvercreek are almost always straight. The rail type drives the price, not the neighborhood.

Does the marine-grade rail coating cost extra on outdoor installs?

No. Every outdoor install in western Washington ships with marine-grade epoxy rail coating, stainless fasteners, and a 12-month corrosion follow-up call as baseline spec. The national chains charge $300-$400 for the same coating as an add-on. We build it into the standard quote because Pacific Northwest moisture will destroy an uncoated rail in two seasons.

Any hidden fees for HOA installs in Sunrise or Manorwood?

Our quote includes the HOA paperwork we handle for you. South Hill's master-planned communities — Sunrise, Manorwood, Lipoma Firs — have architectural review committees, but Washington's Reasonable Accommodation rules under the Washington Law Against Discrimination (RCW 49.60) generally require HOAs to approve accessibility equipment for disabled residents. We provide the documentation packet at no charge.

A word from Luis

Most South Hill families call me after a near-miss they don't want to talk about — a slip on the carpeted stairs coming down from the master bedroom, a parent who stopped going up to the bonus room with the grandchildren, a daughter in Seattle who noticed her father gripping the railing with both hands on Thanksgiving and quietly searched for options that night.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
