Stairlift Service Across Kern County

Kern County, CA

We install throughout Shafter and its surrounding communities. In Central Shafter, the two-story homes from the 1920s-40s near James Street and the Green Hotel often need a curved rail to wrap a tight landing. Smith Corner ranch homes from the 1960s-70s are straight runs on carpeted or hardwood treads. Gossamer Grove, the newer Lennar community off 7th Standard Road, has two-story plans — some with a half-turn at the top. Farmhouses and mid-century homes in North Shafter and along Thomas Lane frequently have porch steps suited to an outdoor lift, while the mostly single-story homes in Mexican Colony occasionally have a narrow interior staircase. We also serve Wasco, Buttonwillow, and nearby Bakersfield.

Common Questions

Everything Shafter Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost in Shafter?

A straight stairlift in Shafter starts at $2,800 installed. Most straight staircases here run 12 to 16 feet, which keeps the cost at the lower end. The price includes the rail, motorized seat, installation, safety sensors, and a 5-year warranty, with battery backup standard.

How much is a curved stairlift in Shafter?

Curved stairlifts start at $9,000 and go up based on how many turns the staircase has. A single-turn rail in an older Central Shafter home typically falls between $9,000 and $11,000. The price reflects an on-site laser measurement followed by custom factory bending to your exact stair geometry.

Are there hidden fees on a Shafter stairlift?

No hidden fees. The quote from your free assessment covers the rail, seat unit, installation labor, cleanup, and warranty registration. The only change would be if a structural issue — a loose tread or damaged stringer — needs repair before mounting, and Luis flags that during the assessment.

Is financing available for a stairlift in Shafter?

Yes. Financing starts at $79/month through a third-party lending partner. The application takes about ten minutes with same-day approval. You can combine financing with a VA HISA grant or Medi-Cal CalAIM coverage to reduce the out-of-pocket amount.

A word from Luis

I've been fitting stairlifts in Shafter for over 15 years, and the homes here fall into three camps: the old two-story places near Central Avenue from when the railroad came through, the ranch homes in Smith Corner and North Shafter from the 1960s and '70s, and the new builds in Gossamer Grove.

Each needs something different. The older James Street homes usually need a curved rail for a tight 90-degree landing. Smith Corner ranches are mostly straight runs, 12 to 14 feet, done in three hours. Gossamer Grove looks wide-open, but about a third of those floor plans have a half-turn at the top that turns a straight quote into a curved one. That's why I always measure in person before I quote.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Shafter families have been putting down roots here since the Santa Fe Railroad came through in 1898. A stairlift means you keep the home you know — on the street where your neighbors wave from the porch — instead of moving to a single-story place in Bakersfield.

Luis handles every Shafter install personally, from the in-home measurement to the VA HISA and Medi-Cal paperwork. Call (800) 965-0350 for a free assessment.
