Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Rensselaer County

Rensselaer County, NY

We install stairlifts throughout the Town of Schodack's six hamlets and the Village of Castleton-on-Hudson, where Victorian-era Main Street homes often have curved staircases with ornate newel posts and 90-degree landings. In Schodack Landing, the historic district's 18th-century Dutch brick houses feature steep, narrow staircases — some with treads under 9 inches deep — that need a custom rail fit. East Schodack and Schodack Center along the Columbia Turnpike corridor have mid-century colonials and split-levels where straight-rail installs are common. Around Nassau Lake, lakefront properties in Braeside need weather-sealed outdoor lifts for multi-level decks and entry stairs. Brookview and the South Schodack area round out our coverage — every Schodack ZIP code, same-day assessment available.

Straight

Straight Rail in 18th-Century Dutch Colonial

Schodack Landing, NY Installed March 2026

Built in 1790, this River Road Dutch colonial had a staircase with treads just 8.5 inches deep and a steep 8.5-inch rise. The Van Alens needed a lift for their mother after a fall. Luis used the slim-rail profile, bolting to each tread while leaving the original wide-plank pine and hand-turned balusters untouched. The beige seat parks at the bottom landing beside an 18th-century newel post.

Curved Rail at Victorian Upper Landing

Castleton-on-Hudson, NY Installed February 2026

This Main Street Victorian has a grand staircase that climbs to a 90-degree turn at the half-landing beneath a crystal chandelier. Luis took a one-hour laser measurement and the rail came back factory-bent to match. The brown leather seat parks at the top floor — the homeowner uses it to reach the second-story bedroom and bath without climbing the curved run.

Straight

Straight Rail on Stone-Tread Cottage Stairs

Schodack Center, NY Installed January 2026

A compact cottage-style home off Schodack Center Road with stone/tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs. The Fletchers needed a lift after Mr. Fletcher's knee replacement. Luis anchored the straight rail directly to the stone treads using masonry-rated bolts. The brown seat tucks beside the cabinet — still plenty of room to walk past.

Outdoor

Outdoor Lift on Nassau Lake Porch

Nassau Lake, NY Installed April 2026

This lakefront home in the Braeside area has a rough stone-paved porch entry with five steps down to the driveway. The Russos wanted an outdoor lift their father could use year-round. Luis installed the IP55-rated outdoor unit with marine-grade stainless hardware and cold-weather seals. The cream-colored seat sits on the upper porch landing, exposed to full daylight and lake winds — the 4Ah battery runs six hours through a winter outage.

Straight

Straight Rail on Carpeted Colonial Stairs

East Schodack, NY Installed December 2025

A 1970s colonial off Columbia Turnpike with wall-to-wall beige carpet on the stairs. The Chans' elderly mother moved in last fall and struggled with the full flight. Luis bolted the rail through the carpet to the treads — no post-install carpet damage. The brown seat upholstery matches the carpet tone, and the rail ends at a tiled-floor landing by the front door.

Wheelchair Platform Lift for Indoor Access

Brookview, NY Installed May 2026

The Hendersons have a split-level in Brookview with six stairs between the garage entry and the main living area. Their son uses a manual wheelchair. Luis installed an inclined platform lift — flat black deck, yellow safety edges, white handrail, automatic folding ramp at the top landing. The 600 lb capacity handles the wheelchair plus occupant. The platform stops on contact, and the battery backup covers outages.

Common Questions

Everything Schodack Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Schodack?

A straight-rail stairlift in Schodack starts at $2,800 installed. Curved rails — common in Castleton-on-Hudson Victorians and Schodack Landing's historic homes — start at $9,000 because each rail is custom-bent to your staircase after a laser measurement. Outdoor lifts for lakefront homes around Nassau Lake start at $4,000. Heavy-duty units rated for 600 lb start at $5,050. All prices include the assessment, rail, carriage, installation, and a 5-year warranty with lifetime rail coverage. Financing is available from $79/month.

Do you charge for the assessment in Schodack?

No. Luis comes to your home anywhere in the Town of Schodack — Schodack Landing, Castleton, East Schodack, Brookview, Braeside, Schodack Center — at no charge. He measures your staircase, checks the electrical access, and gives you a written quote. The quote is good for 30 days and the price does not change after the assessment.

Is there a price difference between Schodack hamlets?

No. The price of the lift is the same whether you're on River Road in Schodack Landing, a side street in Castleton-on-Hudson, or a lakefront property on Nassau Lake. We do not charge travel fees within the 63 square miles of Schodack or anywhere in Rensselaer County. The only variable is the rail type: straight versus curved.

What financing options are available in Schodack?

We offer financing from $79/month with approved credit. This applies to all stairlift types — straight, curved, outdoor, and heavy-duty. There is no prepayment penalty. Many Schodack families also combine financing with a HISA grant (for veterans) or NHTD Waiver E-Mod funding (for Medicaid-eligible residents) to reduce or eliminate the out-of-pocket cost.

A word from Luis

Schodack's housing stock spans three centuries. In Schodack Landing, I've installed rails into Dutch colonials where the staircase hasn't changed since 1750 — steep rises, narrow treads, zero room for error. In Castleton-on-Hudson, the Victorians on Main Street have grand staircases with a 90-degree turn at the landing that needs a custom curved rail. And over in East Schodack, the mid-century colonials off Columbia Turnpike have a standard straight run that takes about three hours.

The one thing every install here shares is the winter. When the temperature stays below freezing for a week in January, outdoor lifts on Nassau Lake porches have to keep working. We spec every outdoor unit with cold-weather seals and the 4Ah battery that runs the lift for six hours if the power drops. That matters when you're 8 miles from Albany and a nor'easter takes down the lines.

I've done over 200 installs in Rensselaer County. The Schodack Senior Center on East Schodack Road sends people my way, and the VA clinics in Albany and Troy refer veterans for HISA-grant installs. If you're in Brookview or Braeside or anywhere in the 12123 or 12033 ZIP codes, call the number on this page. I come out, measure, and give you a number that doesn't change.

— Luis Ramírez, Schodack
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Schodack sits at a crossroads — Interstate 90 meets Routes 9 and 20 at Schodack Center, Route 150 runs north through Brookview to Castleton, and River Road traces the Hudson past 18th-century brick houses in Schodack Landing. That means when we say we cover the whole town, we mean all 63 square miles of it. No travel fees. No surcharge for farm roads off Muitzes Kill Road or lake drives around Nassau Lake.

Luis lives in Rensselaer County and knows the housing stock here better than anyone — from the 1763 Van Buren house in Castleton to the 1980s colonials in East Schodack. Call for an assessment. He shows up, measures your staircase, and hands you one price. The install happens within the week.
