Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Erie County

Erie County, OH

We install across Sandusky and Erie County. In the Cable Park Historic District, the 1900s–1930s homes have narrow oak treads where a folding straight seat keeps the stair passable. Washington Park and Columbus Avenue hold 1850s–1870s Italianates with grand staircases that turn at a landing, so we custom-bend a curved rail around the original newel posts. The Compass District condos near the marina have compact tile-tread stairs that need a diamond-bit drill. Timber Lake cluster homes in Perkins Township carry wall-to-wall carpet, so we bolt through to the subfloor treads. Waterfront homes near Cedar Point Peninsula and Bayshore get sealed, weatherproof outdoor rails built for Lake Erie winters. We also serve Norwalk, Fremont, Amherst, Lorain, and Elyria.

Straight

Cable Park Historic District — straight rail on original oak treads

Cable Park Historic District, OH Installed March 2026

The Kowalskis' 1890s Victorian has original dark oak treads — narrow, steep, and handsome. Luis bolted a 14-foot straight rail into the treads in three hours without touching the carved newel post or the wall-mounted gas-lamp fixtures. The cream seat parks at the bottom landing and folds up when it isn't in use.

Washington Park — 90° curve under an 1870s chandelier

Washington Park, OH Installed February 2026

This 1870 Italianate's grand staircase turns 90 degrees at the upper landing beneath the original brass chandelier. Luis laser-measured it in one hour; the custom-bent rail arrived two weeks later and went in over five hours — threaded around the chandelier, bolted to the treads only, with the plaster crown molding left untouched. The brown seat parks at the top floor.

Compass District — straight rail on stone-tile condo stairs

Compass District, OH Installed April 2026

This Compass District condo has a straight 12-foot staircase with stone-tile treads and a compact floor plan near the marina. Luis installed the rail in three hours using a diamond-bit drill for the tile. The brown seat parks at the bottom beside a wooden sideboard, and the fold-up seat leaves enough pass-through for others.

Cedar Point Peninsula — lakefront deck stair, two winters strong

Cedar Point Peninsula, OH Installed February 2025

The Reynolds' lake house on Cedar Point Road has an outdoor stone stair from the deck to the driveway — 13 steps, fully exposed to Lake Erie weather. Luis installed an IP55-rated outdoor unit in four hours with sealed, corrosion-resistant hardware and a weather cover. The cream seat has endured two lake-effect winters without a service call or a spot of rust.

Timber Lake — carpeted cluster-home stairs, no subfloor damage

Timber Lake, OH Installed January 2026

This Timber Lake cluster home in Perkins Township has a carpeted stairway leading to the second-floor bedrooms. Luis installed the rail in three hours, bolting through the carpet into the subfloor treads beneath with no carpet removal. The brown seat matches the beige carpet tones, and the battery backup was tested through a January ice-storm outage.

Platform Lift

Bayshore — indoor wheelchair platform lift

Bayshore, OH Installed March 2026

The Williams family in Bayshore needed a wheelchair platform lift for their son. Luis installed an indoor inclined platform — flat black deck, yellow safety edges, white handrail, rated to 600 lb — on a straight 16-foot stair run, in four hours. The platform carries the chair without transfers and folds up against the wall so the rest of the family can still use the stairs.

Common Questions

Everything Sandusky Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Sandusky, Ohio?

A straight stairlift in Sandusky starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts start at $9,000 because the rail is custom-bent to your staircase after a laser measurement. Outdoor lifts for lakefront porches and decks start at $4,000, and heavy-duty units rated to 600 lb start at $5,050. Every price includes the in-home assessment, the rail and seat, installation, and a 5-year warranty with lifetime coverage on the rail. Financing starts at $79/month.

Are stairlift costs higher for historic Sandusky homes?

No — the unit price stays the same regardless of home age. In historic districts like Washington Park or along Columbus Avenue, the install may take an extra hour because we work around original woodwork and use non-invasive tread-bolting. We quote that time upfront during the free measurement visit, so there are no surprises on install day.

How do Sandusky stairlift prices compare to Toledo or Cleveland?

They're the same — $2,800 for a straight unit, $9,000 for curved — whether you're in Sandusky, Toledo, or Cleveland. We're the same company serving all of northern Ohio. What changes is the stair geometry, not the geography.

Does All American Stairlifts offer financing for Sandusky residents?

Yes. Financing starts at $79/month. We also help Sandusky residents apply for Ohio's PASSPORT Medicaid waiver, which covers home modifications up to $15,000 per calendar year, and we walk veterans through the VA HISA grant. We can review the paperwork during your free in-home assessment.

A word from Luis

Sandusky is one of the more interesting cities I install in. Half the jobs are in 1850s and 1870s Victorians with steep, narrow staircases — Cable Park, Washington Park, the Columbus Avenue district. The other half are modern builds over in Compass District or Timber Lake where the geometry is simple.

The older homes are my favorite. I've done curved installs in Washington Park where the staircase wraps around a newel post from 1870 — you can't rush that, or you mar the woodwork. We take the full morning, bolt through the treads, and leave the original banister untouched. The lake-effect winters mean outdoor installs need real weather sealing; I did an outdoor straight lift on Cedar Point Road last February, the day before a snow squall came off the lake, and it's been through two winters with zero issues.

For Sandusky veterans, I walk them through the HISA paperwork at the Sandusky VA Clinic on Hayes Avenue. The $6,800 grant covers a straight lift entirely. Call me and I'll come measure your stairs for free.
