Straight Stairlift

The workhorse of Richland's two-story homes — from Meadow Springs masters to Queensgate ranches.

Over 70% of the stairlifts we install in Richland are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the cold-weather battery backup keeps you moving through Eastern Washington winter outages. Every Richland install ships with thread-locked fasteners to resist the thermal cycling that loosens standard hardware across the Columbia Basin.

Starting at $3,150 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls
  • Soft start and soft stop motion

Meadow Springs two-story — beige seat on dark hardwood treads, cold-weather spec

Meadow Springs, WA Installed March 2026

A 1997 two-story in Meadow Springs with 14 dark hardwood treads, wide stairs, and modern construction — the single most common staircase we measure in Richland. Mr. Engstrom, a retired Hanford environmental engineer, had been sleeping in the downstairs den since his knee replacement in September. His daughter in Seattle called us on a Monday, we assessed on Tuesday, and installed on Thursday. We mounted the beige seat on a straight rail bolted into the oak treads, parked the chair at the bottom landing where it folds flat against the wall. The cold-weather battery and thread-locked fasteners are standard on every Tri-Cities unit. He slept in his own bedroom Thursday night for the first time in five months.

South Richland split-level — brown seat at the upper landing, curved rail through a 90-degree turn

South Richland, WA Installed February 2026

A 1974 split-level off Bombing Range Road with a 90-degree turn at the mid-landing — the signature staircase layout of 1970s Eastern Washington ranches. The Haugens had lived there since 1979 and were told by a Spokane-based company they'd need two separate lifts. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a single curved rail that tracks from the foyer through the turn and deposits the brown-upholstered seat at the upper hallway, and mounted a swivel-exit so Mr. Haugen steps onto the hallway floor instead of the top tread. The red-clay soil beneath the foundation had shifted roughly a quarter-inch over 50 years — we shimmed the rail brackets to compensate so the ride is perfectly level.

Gold Coast Alphabet Home — brown seat beside the hallway sideboard, slim-profile rail on 1943 original treads

Gold Coast, WA Installed January 2026

A Type E Alphabet Home in the Gold Coast Historic District — built in 1943 for a Hanford project supervisor, purchased from the federal government in 1958, and maintained by the Lindquist family ever since. The original fir treads are narrow and steep by modern standards, and Mrs. Lindquist was clear that she wanted nothing that looked institutional in a house on the National Register. We specified the slim-profile rail in a warm wood-tone finish, mounted the brown-upholstered seat so it folds flat next to the wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs, and measured twice to account for the steeper-than-standard pitch. Her bridge group meets in the living room every Thursday — no one has mentioned the lift.

Outdoor

North Richland — outdoor rail on stone paving at the garage-to-house entry, wind and ice rated

North Richland, WA Installed December 2025

A ranch-style home in north Richland with five exterior concrete steps from the garage slab to the side entry porch — exposed to Columbia Basin wind, winter ice, and summer dust storms. The stone-paved entry and raised porch steps ice over every December. Mr. Morales is a veteran enrolled at the Richland VA Clinic and qualified for a HISA grant through the Walla Walla VA. We installed the cream-colored outdoor seat on a galvanized rail anchored into the stone paving and coordinated the HISA paperwork remotely — he signed one form and never drove to Walla Walla for the application. It ran through the entire 2025-2026 winter without a service call.

Pasco two-story — brown seat on carpeted stairs, bilingual walkthrough, COPES-funded

Pasco, WA Installed November 2025

A 1990 two-story in Pasco with 14 carpeted treads and a landing at the top where Sra. Delgado's son called us because his mother spoke only Spanish and had been sleeping on the living room couch for four months rather than face the stairs. Luis conducted the entire assessment in Spanish, walked Sra. Delgado through every button twice at her request, and coordinated the COPES waiver with DSHS so the family wrote no check. We installed the brown-upholstered seat with a swivel at the upper landing so she steps onto the hallway carpet instead of the top tread. She sleeps in her own bedroom again and comes downstairs every morning to make breakfast for her grandchildren.

Platform Lift

Queensgate — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges, installed before hospital discharge

Queensgate, WA Installed October 2025

A 2004 two-story in Queensgate where Mr. Bergman's wife called us four days before his hip replacement at Kadlec Regional Medical Center. After surgery, his mobility was so limited that a seated stairlift would not allow independent transfers, so we installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat deck and yellow high-visibility safety edges on all sides. The platform folds against the wall when not in use so the stairs stay passable for his wife. We assessed on Monday and installed on Wednesday — cold-weather battery, thread-locked hardware. Mr. Bergman rode it from the front door to the master bedroom the day he was discharged. His physical therapist at Kadlec said it was the fastest return to independent living she'd seen that quarter.

Common Questions

Everything Richland Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Richland right now?

Straight rails in standard Richland homes — the Meadow Springs two-stories, the Queensgate ranches, the newer Badger Mountain South builds — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for the 1970s South Richland split-levels and some remodeled Alphabet Homes with landing turns, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and garage-to-house steps run $4,000 to $7,500 with cold-weather and wind sealing. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, cold-weather battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Richland than in Seattle or Spokane?

Equipment prices are the same across Washington — we don't inflate quotes based on geography. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: threading a rail through a remodeled Alphabet Home staircase in the Gold Coast, shimming brackets to compensate for 80-year-old foundation settlement in north Richland, or pulling a dedicated circuit in a 1940s home with original wiring. We itemize every line on the written quote. No distance surcharges for Eastern Washington.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every Tri-Cities assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request. In Pasco, where over 35% of the population is Hispanic, bilingual walkthroughs are routine — Luis handles the consultation, leaves a Spanish-language operating manual, and ensures every printed quote and consent form is available in the family's preferred language. Zero surcharge.

Any hidden fees for HOA installs in newer developments?

Our quote includes all HOA paperwork. We've worked with homeowners associations in Meadow Springs, Badger Mountain South, and Queensgate — the reasonable-accommodation letters under Washington's Law Against Discrimination are already templated. What can add cost (rarely) is when an HOA requires its own engineer's letter. If that happens, we tell you before work begins.

A word from Luis

Most Richland calls start the same way — a retired Hanford engineer whose knees gave out two winters ago, a daughter in Seattle who found out her father hasn't been upstairs in months, a couple in a Meadow Springs two-story who built the house in 1998 and never imagined the stairs would become the problem. I drive to your door within 24 hours, measure with a laser, and hand you a written price that's good for 30 days.

No pressure. No upsells. If you qualify for COPES through DSHS or a VA HISA grant through the Walla Walla VA, I'll tell you before we talk numbers. En español si lo prefiere.
