Stairlift Service Across Racine County

Racine County, WI

From the 1920s bungalow belt in West Racine — where Danish families built along Washington Avenue and the steep narrow treads are original hardwood — to the Southside lakefront historic district on the shore of Lake Michigan, where older homes have curved stairways and century-old banisters, our team has mapped every block in Racine. We know which Humble Park Cape Cods have the tight 29-inch stairwells that need our slim-profile rail, which Kinzie Heights ranches have the split-level half-flights that are the most common install we measure in postwar Racine, and which Maple Grove bungalows sit on settled foundations that require shimmed brackets. Uptown’s mix of pre-war two-stories and converted duplexes keeps our crew busy year-round.

Straight

1924 West Racine bungalow — straight rail on original hardwood treads

West Racine, WI Installed March 2026

A 1924 bungalow on a tree-lined block off Washington Avenue with original hardwood treads, a steep pitch, and an oak banister the family has kept oiled since the Danish community built the neighborhood a century ago. Mrs. Sorensen hadn’t been upstairs in six weeks after a fall on the worn treads. We bolted a straight rail into the hardwood treads only — no contact with the oak banister or spindles — shimmed two brackets where the century-old subfloor had settled, and calibrated the motor for the steep pitch. The slim-profile seat folds flat at the bottom landing. Mrs. Sorensen tested the ride three times during the walkthrough and was using it independently by that evening.

Southside lakefront Victorian — curved rail past the original walnut newel post

Southside, WI Installed February 2026

A 1903 Victorian in the Southside Historic District three blocks from the Lake Michigan shore with an original walnut newel post, a 90-degree turn at the upper landing, and century-old millwork the family refused to touch. We laser-scanned the full staircase, fabricated a curved rail that threads the 90-degree turn without blocking the upstairs hallway, and installed a swivel-exit seat so Mr. Keller steps off onto the landing floor rather than the top tread. The rail clears the walnut newel post by two inches. The Kellers’ daughter in Milwaukee called the next week to ask about her in-laws’ house in Kenosha.

Humble Park Cape Cod — straight rail in a tight stairwell with stone-faced entry

Humble Park, WI Installed January 2026

A 1947 Cape Cod in Humble Park with a tight stairwell — 29 inches wall to banister — and stone-faced entry steps from the sidewalk to the front door. Two other companies told the Kowalskis their stairs were too narrow. We specified the slim-profile model with a 13.5-inch rail footprint that leaves enough clearance to walk past when the seat is folded. The treads were original stone-tile with a compact depth, and we used shorter bracket spacing to anchor securely into the narrow tread face. Mr. Kowalski tested the ride the same afternoon and his wife called it the best decision they’d made since buying the house in 1982.

Wind Point raised porch — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone paving

Wind Point, WI Installed September 2025

A 1950s ranch in Wind Point with a raised front porch, eight exterior stone steps, and full exposure to Lake Michigan wind from the east. Mrs. Andersen uses a walker and hadn’t left the house unassisted since spring because the front steps were the bottleneck. We mounted a weather-sealed outdoor rail along the stone paving steps, anchored with stainless masonry bolts, and added a UV-resistant cover for the cream seat when parked. Every component is rated to -25°F and sealed against lake-effect moisture. Mrs. Andersen rode it to her mailbox the afternoon of install — her husband said it was the first time she’d been outside alone in four months.

Maple Grove ranch — straight rail on carpeted split-level entry stairs

Maple Grove, WI Installed August 2025

A 1957 ranch in Maple Grove with a carpeted half-flight of seven steps between the split-level entry and the main living floor — the most common staircase we measure in postwar Racine. Mrs. Hernández had been avoiding the stairs since a knee replacement and her daughter was driving over from Milwaukee twice a day to help. We used longer lag bolts to penetrate through the carpet pad into the subfloor, verified each anchor point with a torque wrench, and installed a swivel-exit seat so she steps off onto the landing carpet rather than the top tread. The carpet color matches the brown upholstery. Mrs. Hernández was using the lift independently by that evening and her daughter cut her visits to twice a week.

Platform Lift

Mount Pleasant split-level — indoor wheelchair platform lift with safety edges

Mount Pleasant, WI Installed July 2025

A 1972 split-level in Mount Pleasant where Mr. Jankowski uses a power wheelchair after a spinal cord injury. The six-step rise between the entry level and the main living floor made a seated stairlift impossible — he cannot transfer out of his chair unassisted. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift with bright yellow safety edges on all sides, automatic fold-down ramps at both levels, and a keyed lockout so the grandchildren can’t operate it unsupervised. The flat black anti-slip platform rides between the entry and the kitchen. Mr. Jankowski rolls on at the bottom, presses a single button, and rolls off at the top into his own kitchen. His occupational therapist from Ascension All Saints signed off and noted it in his VA care plan for HISA reimbursement through the Union Grove VA Clinic.

Common Questions

Everything Racine Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Racine right now?

Straight rails in standard Racine homes run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for Southside lakefront homes with landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000. Outdoor models run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and Lake Michigan-spec corrosion protection.

Are prices different in Racine than Milwaukee or Kenosha?

Equipment prices are the same across Southeast Wisconsin — we don’t inflate quotes for lakefront addresses or historic district homes. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: a Southside Victorian with a 90-degree landing turn takes more fabrication time than a Maple Grove ranch with a straight half-flight. We quote the exact price during the first visit, not a range.

Does the Lake Michigan climate affect the equipment?

Every unit we install in Racine County ships with a -25°F lithium iron phosphate battery, a freeze-thaw gasket kit on the motor housing, and Lake Michigan-spec corrosion protection on outdoor installs. Indoor units get sealed motor housings because Racine’s lake-effect humidity can corrode standard zinc fittings over time. That protection is built into our standard Racine pricing.

Do you offer financing if I don’t qualify for IRIS or HISA?

Yes — three lending partners with 0% APR for qualified buyers and low fixed-rate plans from $79/month. Application is a soft credit pull, takes about 4 minutes, and approval is usually instant. If a licensed physician recommends the stairlift in writing, the full cost qualifies as a medical expense deduction under IRS Schedule A — Wisconsin conforms to the federal treatment.

A word from Luis

Most Racine families call me after a close call on the stairs of a 1920s bungalow — a slip on worn treads in a West Racine Cape Cod, a mother who hasn’t been upstairs in the Kinzie Heights house since her knee surgery, a daughter in Milwaukee worried about her father alone in the Maple Grove bungalow he bought in 1968.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
