Expert Stairlift Installation in Perrysburg, OH

Perrysburg's oldest streets, near the river bluff and the original town plat, still have narrower, steeper stairs than the newer subdivisions past Owens-Illinois. A stairlift is built for that older kind of staircase, keeping you on every floor without a move. Send a photo of your stairs and I'll price the fit before we schedule a measure.

About Perrysburg

What makes Perrysburg different

Why a stairlift installed in Perrysburg, OH is planned around the way this specific community lives, not stamped out from a one-size-fits-all template.

The Local Terrain

Perrysburg sits on the south bank of the Maumee River about 12 miles southwest of Toledo; early settlers who first built in the river's floodplain below Fort Meigs were later flooded out and relocated to higher ground, marking the area as flood-prone lowland along the river.

Homes & Housing Stock

Perrysburg was surveyed and platted on a federal grid in 1816, and its 2020 housing stock of 10,520 units (4.9% vacant, 53.6% married-couple households) still centers on that historic street layout around the original town plat.

The Community

Perrysburg's economy is anchored by Owens-Illinois, a global glass-container manufacturer headquartered there, alongside Burkett Restaurant Equipment; the city grew 21.4% between 2010 and 2020 to 25,041 residents, with over half of adults holding a bachelor's degree as of 2016.

Straight

Historic District: straight rail on original oak treads

Historic District, OH Installed February 2026

An 1846 Greek Revival on West Front Street with original oak treads, narrow at 31 inches, steep 8-inch rise. The Callahans wanted to preserve the woodwork, so we used the slim-rail straight model, bolting to every third tread. No wall anchors, no trim removal. The cream seat tucks at the bottom landing next to the original newel post.

Carrington Woods: curved rail at the upper landing

Carrington Woods, OH Installed March 2026

A two-story custom build in Carrington Woods with a 90-degree curved staircase at the upper landing. The half-wall at the turn meant the rail had to follow the outer radius exactly. A one-hour laser measurement captured the compound curve, then the rail was bent at the factory. The brown seat parks at the top floor, out of sight from the foyer below.

Three Meadows: compact rail beside the sideboard

Three Meadows, OH Installed January 2026

A 1986 home in Three Meadows with stone-look tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs. Tight clearance between the bottom step and the sideboard, so we shifted the rail start point two treads up to keep full access to the cabinet. The brown seat tucks next to the sideboard when parked. Straight rail, 13 feet.

Outdoor

Horseshoe Bend: outdoor lift over a stone porch entry

Horseshoe Bend, OH Installed October 2025

A ranch home in Horseshoe Bend with a five-step porch entry over rough stone paving. The homeowners needed year-round access; Wood County winters bring ice storms and freeze-thaw cycles. We installed the IP55-rated outdoor straight lift with a corrosion-resistant powder-coated aluminum rail. The cream seat sits at porch level, weather-sealed against rain and snow.

Straight

Oakmont: straight rail on carpeted Colonial stairs

Oakmont, OH Installed April 2026

A 1992 Colonial in Oakmont with wall-to-wall beige carpet on the stairs. The carpet color nearly matches the brown seat upholstery, so the lift blends in when parked at the bottom landing. Standard 36-inch width, straight rail bolted through the carpet to the treads. The tiled floor at the base gave us a clean anchor point.

Platform Lift

Willowbend: indoor wheelchair platform lift

Willowbend, OH Installed March 2026

A split-level in Willowbend where Mr. Simmons, a wheelchair user, needed access from the garage-level entry up seven steps to the main living area. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift with a flat black deck and yellow safety edges, white handrail along the wall side. The platform folds up vertically when not in use, keeping the staircase open for the rest of the family.

Stairlift Service Across Wood County

Wood County, OH

From the Greek Revival homes along West Front Street in the Historic District to the 1980s Colonials in Belmont Farms and newer custom builds in Carrington Woods, stairlift installs in Perrysburg cover every era of housing. Many homes in Three Meadows and Oakmont have carpeted staircases with standard 36-inch widths: a straight-rail lift goes in during one morning. The curved staircases common in Hawthorne two-story plans need a laser-measured custom rail, captured on-site in about an hour. Outdoor lifts serve the porch-entry ranch homes in Horseshoe Bend where the front steps are the primary access. Platform lifts handle the split-levels in Willowbend and the bi-levels common across Wood County.

Common Questions

Everything Perrysburg Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a stairlift cost for a home in Perrysburg?

A straight rail on a single flight runs less than a curved one, and it's the more common job on the newer streets that grew up around the Owens-Illinois and Burkett corridors. The older homes near the historic 1816 plat, closer to the river, are more likely to have a landing or a turn partway up, which means a custom-bent curved rail and a higher price. I don't give a number over the phone; I need to see the actual stairs.

Is a stairlift a reasonable expense for a typical Perrysburg household?

Perrysburg sits in a higher-cost, higher-income band than a lot of towns I work in, and homeownership here runs 63.3%, so most of the households I'm quoting own the home they're modifying rather than renting it. That changes the calculus: people are weighing it against staying in a paid-off house, not against a lease. Even so, most residents 60 and older ask about the PASSPORT Medicaid waiver before committing, since it can offset a real chunk of the cost through an individualized care plan.

Does Medicare or private insurance pay for any part of it?

No, not under standard Medicare or most private policies; a stairlift is classified as a home modification, not durable medical equipment, so it falls outside typical coverage. Ohio's Medicaid waivers work differently: PASSPORT (for residents 60+ needing nursing-facility-level care) and the Ohio Home Care Waiver (for younger residents with physical disabilities) both fund home modification services as part of an approved plan, and the Home Care Waiver specifically caps that modification benefit at $10,000 per calendar year, though a March 2026 state proposal would raise that to $15,000.

A word from Luis
I've done installs on both ends of Perrysburg: the older streets near the original plat and river bluff, and the newer construction that's gone up as the city grew past 25,000 people. What stands out here is that most homeowners have already done some homework before I show up; this is a town where more than half the adults hold a bachelor's degree, and it shows in how specific the questions are: people want the exact model comparison and the real funding numbers, not a sales pitch.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Whether you live in a century-old Front Street home with steep original staircases or a 2000s two-story in Carrington Woods, the math on a stairlift comes down to the same thing: it costs less than one month in assisted living and it keeps your parent in the home they know.

Luis and the Perrysburg crew handle everything: the Wood County building code check, the laser measurement on curved jobs, the install on carpet, hardwood, or stone, and the VA or Medicaid paperwork if you qualify. Call or fill out the form to schedule the free assessment. Same-week appointments available for Perrysburg, Maumee, Rossford, and the surrounding Wood County area.
