The standard for Owensboro’s post-war brick two-stories and East Side ranches. Over 70% of the stairlifts we install in Daviess County are straight rails. The track bolts to your stair treads — never into the wall — the seat and footrest fold flat out of the way, and our Kentucky fleet ships with sealed-battery packs rated for the Ohio River Valley’s humidity. Most Griffith Avenue and Old Orchard installs finish in under four hours.

Stairlift Service Across Daviess County

Daviess County, KY

From the century-old homes along Griffith Avenue — where late-Victorian and Craftsman two-stories sit behind wide front porches near the hospital district — to the 1950s brick ranches in Old Orchard and East Side subdivisions built during Owensboro’s industrial postwar expansion, we know the stairs in this city. We know which Frederica Street homes have the narrow 33-inch run between the banister and the wall, which Moreland properties from the 1960s have the split-level landing that needs a curved rail, and which Reid Road-area subdivisions have wide modern treads that install in three hours flat.

We also cover the surrounding communities — Thruston, Sorgho, Philpot, Masonville, and Stanley — with the same pricing and no mileage surcharge. Rural Daviess County families shouldn’t pay extra because their address ends in a rural route number.

1938 Griffith Avenue two-story — straight rail on original oak treads

Griffith Avenue, KY Installed March 2026

A 1938 brick two-story on Griffith Avenue near Owensboro Health, with 15 original oak treads and a painted banister that Mrs. Whitaker had no intention of altering. She had been managing the stairs on good days and sleeping in the den on bad ones since her hip replacement. Her son called us from Nashville on a Monday. We drove over Tuesday morning, laser-measured the 16-foot run, confirmed the oak treads were solid enough for mounting hardware, and installed Thursday. The rail parks flush against the wall at the bottom. She was back in her upstairs bedroom Thursday night.

1961 Moreland split-level — curved rail through a 90° landing turn

Moreland, KY Installed February 2026

A 1961 split-level in the Moreland neighborhood with eight steps from the front entry to the living area, a 90-degree landing, then seven more steps to the bedrooms. Two companies told the family they’d need two separate lifts with a transfer platform in the middle. We laser-scanned the entire run on the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries Mr. Burton from the entry to the upper hallway without stopping, and added a swivel-exit seat at the top so he steps off onto the bedroom-level carpet instead of the top tread. One ride, zero transfers, no transfer platform to fall on.

East Side cottage — straight rail on stone-tread stairs in a compact stairwell

East Side, KY Installed January 2026

A 1955 brick cottage in the East Side neighborhood with 12 stone-tread steps and a narrow stairwell next to a wooden sideboard in the entry hall. Mrs. Ridenour’s biggest concern wasn’t the ride — it was stepping off at the top, which was the exact step where she’d lost her balance twice. The compact home’s traditional feel meant every inch mattered, so we specified the slim-profile seat that folds flat against the wall. Her primary care doctor at Owensboro Health had recommended the lift after her second near-fall. We had the install scheduled within 48 hours of her call.

Tamarack neighborhood — outdoor lift on raised entry steps, Ohio River humidity spec

Tamarack, KY Installed December 2025

A raised-entry ranch in the Tamarack area with a front porch six steps up from street level and stone paving at the base — manageable in summer, treacherous in an Owensboro winter ice event. Mr. Hammond is a retired river worker with a service-connected knee injury. We installed an outdoor straight rail with IP55-sealed motor housing rated for the Ohio River Valley’s 70–75% summer humidity, UV-stabilized cream upholstery for the south-facing steps, and a heated grip rail element for ice season. His Robley Rex VA primary care provider wrote the HISA prescription; the grant covered $6,800 of the install.

Frederica Street home — slim-profile rail on carpeted stairs

Frederica Street, KY Installed November 2025

A 1947 home near Frederica Street with carpeted stairs and a landing at the midpoint. Mr. Perkins is 84 and manages the stairs on his good days, but his daughter in Lexington was worried about the bad ones. The brown-upholstered seat sits on carpet-covered treads that match its warm tones, and the rail runs from the tiled entry floor up through the carpeted run to the upper landing. His daughter joined the assessment by phone so she could hear every measurement and ask every question before we started. Install was complete in a single morning.

Platform Lift

Old Orchard bungalow — inclined wheelchair platform for a non-transfer resident

Old Orchard, KY Installed October 2025

A 1952 bungalow in Old Orchard where Mrs. Elmore uses a wheelchair full-time and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat anti-slip surface, yellow high-visibility safety edges, and white safety handrails along the indoor stairway. The terracotta-painted walls of the stairwell gave us just enough clearance for the platform. Her Kentucky HCB Waiver approval came through in September after six months on the waitlist — we coordinated with her CHFS caseworker and had the platform installed before the first frost of the season.

Common Questions

Everything Owensboro Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Owensboro right now?

Straight rails in standard Owensboro homes — the brick two-stories along Griffith Avenue and Frederica Street, the post-war ranches in East Side and Old Orchard — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you’ll need for Moreland and other 1960s split-levels with a landing turn, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised-entry porches and porch steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, sealed battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Owensboro than Louisville or Lexington?

Equipment prices are the same across Kentucky — we don’t inflate quotes based on your zip code. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: the narrow stairwells on older Frederica Street and Griffith Avenue homes, the elevated outlet work we do as standard in any flood-adjacent property near the Ohio River bottom, and the extended-capacity battery pack we spec for every Daviess County install. We show you every line item on the written quote. No regional premiums.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story?

Moving costs in Daviess County — real estate commission, closing costs, new deposit, moving company — typically run $15,000 to $30,000 minimum, and that assumes you can find a suitable single-story in your preferred neighborhood at a price you can afford. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you’ve lived in for decades. For most Owensboro families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone.

Can I finance if the Kentucky Medicaid waiver doesn’t cover everything?

Yes — we work with three lending partners offering 0% APR for qualified buyers and fixed-rate plans from $79/month. The application is a soft credit pull (no impact on your score) and takes about four minutes. Many Daviess County families combine financing with a partial HCB Waiver authorization or a VA HISA grant contribution to bring the out-of-pocket number down significantly. We walk through the math during the free assessment.

A word from Luis

Most calls I get from Owensboro families start the same way — someone slipped on the stairs, or a parent had a knee replacement at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and can’t manage the staircase anymore. The two-story homes along Griffith Avenue and in the East Side neighborhoods were built for families in their 30s, not their 80s.

Here’s what I do: drive to your house, walk the stairs with you, and hand you a written quote before I leave. No pressure. No callbacks. No surprises. If the Kentucky HCB Waiver or the VA HISA grant applies to your situation, I’ll tell you exactly what you qualify for before you make any decision.
