The workhorse of Evansville’s Victorians, Foursquares, and Ohio River bluff bungalows. Over 70% of the stairlifts we install in Vanderburgh County are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the cold-weather battery backup keeps you moving through Ohio Valley storm outages. Most Evansville installs wrap in under four hours.

Stairlift Service Across Vanderburgh County

Vanderburgh County, IN

From the Victorian and Craftsman homes of Riverside and near-Downtown — where steep stairs with original hardwood treads date to the 1890s — to the solid Foursquares and bungalows of the North Side and East Side, the mid-century ranches and split-levels on the West Side, and newer construction along the Newburgh corridor, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in Vanderburgh County. We know which Riverside Victorians need digital scanning for curved banisters, which North Side Foursquares require a swivel-exit at the top of a steep straight run, and which West Side split-levels make a straight rail impossible. We also serve Newburgh, Melody Hill, Darmstadt, Chandler, and Henderson, KY without travel fees.

1904 Riverside Victorian — rail color-matched to original oak banister

Riverside, IN Installed March 2026

A 1904 Victorian in Evansville’s Riverside neighborhood with an original oak banister and ornate newel post that Mrs. Weaver has maintained through three generations. Her daughter called from Indianapolis after her mother slipped on the third step. We brought finish samples, matched the rail to the original oak, and bolted into the treads without touching a single spindle. The folding seat leaves 27 inches of clearance for her home health aide to walk beside her on the stairs.

90° landing turn in a 1962 West Side split-level

West Side, IN Installed February 2026

A 1962 split-level on the West Side with the classic layout — five steps from the entry to the main floor, a 90° turn, then seven more to the bedrooms. Mr. Schmitt had been sleeping in his recliner for six months after back surgery. We laser-scanned the staircase, fabricated a curved rail that carries him from the front door to the upper hallway in one continuous ride, and installed in a single afternoon. Mr. Schmitt slept in his bed that night and told his wife he’d forgotten how much he missed it.

1940s East Side cottage — compact rail beside a stone-tread stairway

East Side, IN Installed January 2026

A 1940s cottage on the East Side with stone treads, a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs, and the compact traditional layout common in Evansville’s older neighborhoods. Mrs. Koehler is 80 and had been sleeping on the couch since October. The narrow stairway sits next to a china cabinet she refused to move, so we fitted the compact-profile rail with a folding footrest that tucks tight against the wall. Her grandchildren walk past it on Sundays without breaking stride.

East Side raised porch — weather-sealed for Ohio Valley storms

East Side, IN Installed December 2025

A 1940s home on the East Side with a raised front porch, stone-paved entry, and six concrete steps. Mr. Fischer is a Crane NSWC retiree who qualified for a HISA grant through the VA Marion Health Care System. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103, the prescription came back in seven weeks via telehealth, and the weather-resistant cream seat was installed the following week. Every bracket is sealed against Ohio Valley humidity, and the 72-hour battery backup ran through a thunderstorm outage in April without a service call.

Newburgh corridor two-story — swivel-exit on carpeted stairs

Newburgh Corridor, IN Installed November 2025

A 1990s two-story along the Newburgh corridor with 14 carpeted treads and a tight newel post at the bottom. Mrs. Hartmann’s mother had moved in from a Henderson, Kentucky farmhouse and the stairs were the only barrier to the upstairs guest room. We installed the swivel-exit seat that rotates 90° at the upper landing so her mother steps off onto the hallway carpet instead of the top step. The brown upholstery blends with the carpet tones. She rides it four times a day and calls it ‘the elevator.’

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform in a Downtown Evansville duplex

Downtown Evansville, IN Installed October 2025

The Hargrove family’s father uses a power wheelchair after a stroke. Their Downtown duplex has five steps between the street-level entry and the main living floor. We installed an inclined platform lift with yellow high-visibility safety edges, a fold-up deck when not in use, and a keyed call station at the entry level. The flat black anti-slip platform carries his wheelchair safely up the indoor stairway. The Indiana PathWays waiver covered the full cost — the family never wrote a check. Mr. Hargrove enters his home independently for the first time since the stroke.

Common Questions

Everything Evansville Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Vanderburgh County right now?

Straight rails in standard Evansville homes — the Riverside bungalows, the North Side Foursquares, the West Side ranches — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for homes with mid-landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches and basement walk-outs run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Evansville than Indianapolis or Louisville?

Equipment prices are the same across Indiana. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original banisters in Riverside Victorians, compensating for century-old tread wear in North Side Foursquares, or pulling a new circuit in a pre-1930 home with a 60-amp panel. We detail every line item upfront.

Is Evansville cheaper because it’s a smaller market?

The equipment costs the same everywhere — we don’t discount for rural markets or inflate for urban ones. What makes Evansville more affordable than many cities is that more homes have standard straight staircases, which keeps the average install in the $2,800–$4,500 range. The curved installs and outdoor lifts cost the same as Indianapolis or Louisville.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30–40% — we carry factory-reconditioned rails with new upholstery, new batteries, and a 2-year warranty. We replace the factory battery with our cold-weather LiFePO4 on every Indiana refurbished unit. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never available. Ask during the assessment.

A word from Luis

Most Evansville families call me after something has already happened — a slip on the steep stairs in a Riverside bungalow, a parent who hasn’t been upstairs since the winter cold stiffened her knees, a daughter in Indianapolis worried about her father in a North Side home he’s lived in for 50 years on the Ohio River bluff.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
