Stairlift Service Across Winnebago County

Winnebago County, WI

From the Victorian homes along Stevens Park — built during the 1880s lumber boom with steep narrow stairs and original fir treads — to the Algoma Boulevard Historic District, where Colonial Revival staircases have curved upper landings and century-old millwork, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in the city. Menominee North Craftsman bungalows have the tight upper doorway requiring a folding-rail option. Midtown Foursquares have the straight 14-step run that installs in three hours flat. Millers Bay split-levels have the half-flight landing turn that only works with a custom curved rail. Downtown loft conversions along the riverfront have open-tread steel staircases needing different mounting hardware. Adjacent communities in Neenah, Omro, and Winneconne are within our same-day service radius.

1892 Stevens Park Victorian — rail matched to original fir banister

Stevens Park, WI Installed March 2026

An 1892 Victorian on Washington Street in Stevens Park with original fir treads, a carved newel post, and a banister that has survived 134 Wisconsin winters. Mrs. Reinhardt's first words on the phone were 'whatever you install cannot touch the woodwork.' We brought rail-finish samples to the first visit, matched to the original fir grain, and bolted the track into the stair treads without touching a single spindle. The beige seat parks flush at the lower landing and the folding footrest keeps the narrow entry hall passable.

Curved

Algoma Boulevard Colonial Revival — curved rail past a century-old newel post

Algoma Boulevard, WI Installed February 2026

A 1905 Colonial Revival on Algoma Boulevard with a formal entry staircase, a 90° upper-landing turn, and a hand-carved newel post the Schroeders inherited with the house in 1978. Two other installers said the landing turn was too tight for a curved rail. We laser-scanned the full geometry, fabricated a custom rail that threads past the newel post with two inches of clearance, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top so Mrs. Schroeder steps onto the hallway runner instead of the top tread. The brown-upholstered seat parks at the upper landing where the rail curves around the half-wall balustrade.

Menominee North bungalow — compact straight rail on original stone treads

Menominee North, WI Installed January 2026

A 1940s Craftsman bungalow in Menominee North with stone-capped treads, a wooden sideboard in the narrow hallway at the base of the stairs, and a potted fern that Mr. Kessler refused to move. We mounted the straight rail tight to the wall side, positioned the brown-upholstered seat so it parks right next to the sideboard without blocking the hall, and added the folding footrest so the compact entry stays passable. The cottage feel of the house — warm wood trim, tile accents, low ceilings — made a slim-profile rail the only option that fit.

Midtown raised porch — weather-sealed lift on stone-paved entry

Midtown, WI Installed December 2025

A Midtown Foursquare with a raised front porch and stone-paved entry steps that turned into an ice sheet every November. Mr. Halverson is a Vietnam-era veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Milwaukee VA. We mounted the cream-colored weather-resistant seat on a galvanized outdoor rail anchored into the stone paving, sealed every bracket against Winnebago County's 80+ annual freeze-thaw cycles, and fitted a lockable key switch at the base. The covered porch keeps the upper landing sheltered, and the weather hood protects the motor housing year-round.

Stevens Park colonial — straight rail on carpeted stairs at the landing

Stevens Park, WI Installed November 2025

A 1920s colonial in Stevens Park with carpet-covered treads running from the tiled foyer up to a second-floor landing. The brown carpet matched the brown upholstery on the seat almost exactly — a detail Mrs. Becker appreciated. We bolted the straight rail through the carpet into the tread wood beneath, mounted the seat at the landing level, and confirmed the wall-mounted light switches at the turn remained accessible. The carpeted stairs absorbed the rail vibration, making for an especially quiet ride.

Platform Lift

Downtown loft — indoor wheelchair platform lift on steel stairs

Downtown Oshkosh, WI Installed October 2025

A converted industrial loft in a former Fox River warehouse with an indoor stairway and orange-painted walls. Mr. Novak uses a wheelchair and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip surface and yellow high-visibility safety edges on the platform. The white handrail guides the platform along the indoor stairway, and the window at the landing provides natural light. This is not a seated stairlift — it carries the wheelchair and rider together on a flat platform.

Common Questions

Everything Oshkosh Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Oshkosh right now?

Straight rails in standard Oshkosh homes — the Menominee North bungalows, the Midtown Foursquares, the Millers Bay ranches — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for Millers Bay split-levels with a mid-landing turn or the larger Algoma Boulevard homes with upper-landing curves, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front entries and basement walk-outs run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Oshkosh than Appleton or Green Bay?

Equipment prices are the same across Wisconsin — we don't adjust based on zip code. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original banisters in 1890s Stevens Park Victorians, compensating rail mounts for century-old tread wear in the Algoma Boulevard district, and the occasional electrical upgrade in a pre-1940 bungalow still running a 60-amp panel. We tell you the line items upfront. No surprise surcharges.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering in this climate?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30-40% off a new install — we carry factory-reconditioned straight rails with new upholstery, new batteries, and a 2-year warranty. We do not sell refurbished units without replacing the battery to our cold-weather spec, because factory-default sealed lead-acid batteries fail below -10°F and Oshkosh regularly hits -15°F in January. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never an option because the rail is custom-built to a specific staircase. Ask during your assessment.

Any hidden fees for older Oshkosh homes?

Our quote covers everything: the rail, the seat, installation labor, battery backup, and the first service visit. The only add-on we occasionally see in the older neighborhoods — Stevens Park, Algoma Boulevard, Menominee North — is a dedicated electrical circuit when the existing outlet near the base of the stairs can't handle the load. If that's needed, we tell you during the assessment, not after. A new circuit adds $200-$400 and is handled by our Wisconsin-licensed electrician.

A word from Luis

Oshkosh calls come from families dealing with a specific staircase — the steep narrow run in a Stevens Park Victorian, a parent who stopped going to the second floor after Thanksgiving because the Algoma Boulevard house was built in 1910 and the treads are worn smooth, a grown child in Neenah worried about a widowed father in a Menominee North bungalow he's owned since the Nixon administration.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
