Bestseller

The workhorse of Fox Valley Craftsmans, postwar ranches, and two-story colonials. Over 70% of the stairlifts we install in Outagamie County are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the battery backup keeps you moving through the next winter power outage. Most Appleton installs wrap in under four hours. Every battery ships cold-weather rated to -25°F as baseline.

Stairlift Service Across Outagamie County

Outagamie County, WI

From the Craftsman homes along College Avenue — built during the paper mill boom of the 1910s and 1920s, with narrow stairways and original oak treads — to the postwar split-levels of Midtown and Huntington, where the half-flight layout almost always requires a curved rail, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in the Fox Cities. We know which Erb Park bungalows need the folding-rail option at the tight top doorway, which City Park colonials work best with the carpeted-stair swivel-exit, and which Appleton North subdivisions have the open-tread designs requiring a different rail mount. Kimberly, Little Chute, and Menasha are within our same-day service radius — no travel fee.

1918 College Avenue Craftsman — rail matched to original oak banister

College Avenue, WI Installed March 2026

A 1918 Craftsman near College Avenue with original dark oak treads and a banister the family preserved through three generations of paper mill workers. Mrs. Lindgren's son called from Milwaukee after she stopped going upstairs following a hip replacement. We color-matched the rail finish to the original oak and bolted the track into the existing treads without touching a single spindle. The beige seat parks flush at the bottom landing against the warm hardwood stairway.

90° landing turn in a 1962 Midtown split-level

Midtown, WI Installed February 2026

A 1962 split-level in Midtown with the classic Wisconsin layout — five steps down, a 90° landing turn, then nine up to the bedrooms. We laser-scanned the staircase, fabricated a single curved rail that threads past the original newel post at the upper landing, and installed it in a single afternoon. The brown seat parks at the top where the rail curves 90° past the chandelier, and Mr. Kowalski swivels to step off onto the hallway floor. Framed art on the wall stays untouched.

Huntington cottage — compact rail alongside original wooden sideboard

Huntington, WI Installed January 2026

A 1950s cottage in Huntington with stone-tile treads and a wooden sideboard built into the wall alongside the stairs — a feature the family considered non-negotiable. We measured the clearance on the first visit, specified the narrow-profile rail, and mounted it on the opposite side so the brown seat rides past the sideboard with three inches to spare. The potted plant on the cabinet stays right where it is. Mrs. Bergman uses it eight times a day and the cottage character remains untouched.

Erb Park raised entry — outdoor lift on stone-paved porch steps

Erb Park, WI Installed December 2025

A raised entry in Erb Park with five rough stone-paved steps up to the front door — standard for the 1940s homes in this neighborhood. Mr. Hansen is a retired paper mill engineer who qualified for a HISA grant through the Milwaukee VA. We installed the cream outdoor seat on the porch rail, sealed every bracket against Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycling, and confirmed the stone paving at the base drains properly so meltwater doesn't pool and refreeze. The lift has ridden through two ice storms since install.

City Park colonial — swivel-exit seat on carpeted stairs

City Park, WI Installed November 2025

A two-story colonial in City Park with 14 carpeted treads and a tight newel post at the bottom. Mrs. Olson's primary concern was stepping off at the top, where her husband had slipped the previous January. We installed the swivel-exit seat that rotates 90° at the upper landing so she stands on hallway floor instead of the top step. The brown upholstery matches the carpet tones, and the fold-up footrest keeps the stairway clear for visiting grandchildren. Tiled floor at the base landing stays scuff-free.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform for an Appleton North split-entry

Appleton North, WI Installed October 2025

The Nguyens' son uses a power wheelchair and needed access from the garage-level entry to the main floor in their 1990s split-entry home. We installed an inclined platform lift with a flat black anti-slip deck and yellow high-visibility safety edges along the indoor stairway. The white handrail guides the platform past the window at the mid-landing, and the orange-toned walls frame the unit cleanly. No transfers required — he rolls on, rides up, and rolls off. The fold-up deck keeps the stairs clear when not in use.

Common Questions

Everything Appleton Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Outagamie County right now?

Straight rails in standard Appleton homes — the College Avenue Craftsmans, the Huntington ranches, the Midtown split-levels — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for split-levels with a mid-landing turn or any staircase with a 90° change, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches and basement walk-outs run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Appleton than Milwaukee or Green Bay?

Equipment prices are the same across Wisconsin — we don't inflate quotes based on address. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original banisters in early-1900s College Avenue homes, compensating rail mounts for century-old tread wear, and the occasional electrical upgrade in a pre-1940 bungalow still running a 60-amp panel. We tell you the line items upfront. No surprise surcharges.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering in this climate?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30-40% off a new install — we carry factory-reconditioned straight rails with new upholstery, new batteries, and a 2-year warranty. We do not sell refurbished units without replacing the battery to our cold-weather spec, because factory batteries fail in Fox Valley winters. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never an option because the rail is custom-built to a specific staircase. Ask us about refurbished inventory during the assessment.

Any hidden fees for homes in older Appleton neighborhoods?

Our quote covers everything: the rail, the seat, installation labor, battery backup, and the first service visit. The only add-on we occasionally see in older neighborhoods — College Avenue, Erb Park — is a dedicated electrical circuit when the existing outlet near the base of the stairs can't handle the load. If that's needed, we tell you during the assessment, not after. A new circuit adds $200-$400 and is handled by our Wisconsin-licensed electrician.

A word from Luis

Most Fox Valley families call me after something specific — a fall on the basement stairs in a College Avenue colonial, a parent sleeping on the couch since October because the bedrooms are upstairs, a son in Milwaukee worried about his widowed father in a Huntington bungalow he's owned for 35 years.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
