Stairlift Service Across Rutherford County

Rutherford County, TN

From the pre-1940 Victorians of historic downtown and Cannonsburgh — steep stairs, original hardwood banisters, narrow treads — to the 1990s–2000s two-story subdivisions of Blackman and Barfield, where wide carpeted runs make straight installs routine. North Murfreesboro split-levels from the 1980s have the landing turns that require curved rails. Salem corridor homes have builder-grade stairwells suited to compact-seat installs. Gateway/Medical Center condos often require HOA architectural review. Walter Hill on the rural fringe has older farmhouses with outdoor porch stairs needing weather-sealed hardware. The Stones River corridor has the newest construction — open-plan foyers where aesthetics matter as much as function.

Straight

Blackman subdivision — straight rail on builder-grade hardwood treads

Blackman, TN Installed March 2026

A 1998 two-story in Blackman with dark hardwood treads and an open-tread staircase. Mrs. Henderson’s daughter called from Nashville after her mother fell carrying laundry. We bolted a straight rail to the right side of the oak treads — self-supporting, never into the wall — and positioned the beige seat at the bottom landing where it folds flat. The warm residential tones of the stairwell stay intact. Three hours, measured to ride.

Curved

Stones River corridor — curved rail around upper-landing half-wall

Stones River, TN Installed February 2026

A 2008 home in the Stones River corridor with a sweeping staircase and a half-wall balustrade at the upper landing. Mr. Whitaker was clear: the lift could not look like a medical device. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a curved rail that bends around the half-wall at the top, and parked the brown-upholstered seat at the upper floor where he steps off directly onto the hallway. The modern interior — chandelier above, framed art on the walls — pairs seamlessly with the curved rail’s profile.

Historic downtown — compact straight rail beside the sideboard

Historic Downtown/Cannonsburgh, TN Installed January 2026

A pre-1940 Craftsman in the Cannonsburgh area with stone-and-tile treads, a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs, and a potted plant Mrs. Patel refused to move. The stairwell is compact — traditional cottage proportions common in Murfreesboro’s older downtown homes. We fitted a slim-profile straight rail bolted into the treads, positioned the brown-upholstered seat to clear the sideboard, and matched the warm tones of the home’s interior. Compact space, zero clearance issues.

Outdoor

Walter Hill farmhouse — outdoor lift on stone-paved front porch

Walter Hill, TN Installed December 2025

A 1965 farmhouse in the Walter Hill corridor with a raised front porch and rough natural stone paving at the entry. Mr. Gibson is a Vietnam-era veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center — a ten-minute drive from his house. The cream-colored weather-resistant seat handles Middle Tennessee’s humidity and storm season. The IP55-sealed motor housing and the stone-paved porch steps give the installation a sturdy, permanent look that fits the farmhouse setting.

Barfield two-story — straight rail on carpeted treads with swivel exit

Barfield, TN Installed November 2025

A 2001 two-story in Barfield with 13 carpeted treads and a landing area at the top. Mrs. Jennings’s biggest fear was stepping off at the top where her husband had slipped the previous fall. We bolted the rail through the carpet into the wooden substructure and installed a swivel-exit seat that rotates 90° at the upper landing. The brown upholstery matches the carpet tones, and the wall-mounted light switches stay accessible. One small detail — the swivel exit — one fall prevented.

Platform Lift

North Murfreesboro — indoor wheelchair platform lift for stroke recovery

North Murfreesboro, TN Installed October 2025

A 1982 split-level in North Murfreesboro where Mr. Caldwell uses a wheelchair after a stroke and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway — a flat anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges and a white handrail. The orange-toned walls and natural light from the stairwell window frame the unit. Mr. Caldwell rolls his wheelchair onto the platform and rides between levels independently for the first time since his stroke.

Common Questions

Everything Murfreesboro Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Rutherford County right now?

Straight rails in standard Murfreesboro homes — the Blackman and Barfield two-stories, the North Murfreesboro ranches, the newer Stones River corridor homes — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you’ll need for historic downtown Victorians with mid-landing turns and 1980s split-levels with 90° bends, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised porches and basement entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Murfreesboro than Nashville?

Equipment prices are the same across the Nashville metro — we don’t inflate quotes for Blackman estates or downtown historic homes, and there’s no travel surcharge for being 30 miles southeast of Nashville. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original banisters in pre-1940 downtown homes, compensating for century-old tread wear, and the occasional electrical upgrade in a historic-district house. We tell you the line items upfront.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30–40% off a new install — we carry factory-reconditioned straight rails with new upholstery, new batteries, and a 2-year warranty. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never an option because the rail is custom-fabricated for a specific staircase. If your Rutherford County home has a standard straight run, ask us about refurbished inventory during the assessment.

Does Murfreesboro require a contractor license for stairlift installs?

Tennessee regulates contractors through the Board for Licensing Contractors. Rutherford County follows state-level thresholds for residential work. We hold a full TN Contractor License verified at tn.gov/commerce. The license number appears on every written quote. Any installer who can’t show you a current TN license number should not be in your house.

A word from Luis

Most Murfreesboro families call me after something has already happened — a fall on the stairs in a Blackman subdivision two-story, a parent who hasn’t been upstairs in months after hip surgery at Saint Thomas Rutherford, a daughter in Nashville calling because her father in the historic district refuses to leave the home he’s owned since 1985.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. Murfreesboro is 30 minutes from Nashville — I’m local, not driving in from another state.
