Stairlift Service Across Monongalia County

Monongalia County, WV

Morgantown's housing spans 130 years across steep river-valley terrain. South Park Historic District holds Victorian homes from the 1890s with tall hardwood staircases — most take a straight rail bolted to the treads. Greenmont's frame houses (1901–1925) have staircases under 32 inches wide that fit compact models. Woodburn's Craftsman homes from the 1910s sit on dramatic hillsides with long 14-foot straight runs. Suncrest offers mid-century builds with wider stairs, but split-levels create half-flight challenges. Cheat Lake and Brookhaven have newer construction. Sabraton and Jerome Park hold working-class houses where a straight stairlift from $2,800 keeps owners on both floors. Star City and Evansdale's steep yards need outdoor systems from $4,000.

Straight

Straight Rail on Original Oak in South Park Victorian

South Park, WV Installed March 2026

The Pattersons' 1895 Victorian on South High Street had a steep oak staircase — 13 treads with a hand-carved newel post. After Mrs. Patterson broke her hip, she couldn't reach the second-floor bathroom. We bolted a straight rail to the treads in 3 hours. No wall damage. The cream-upholstered seat parks at the bottom landing, out of the way of the entry hall.

Curved Rail at Upper Landing in Cheat Lake Home

Cheat Lake, WV Installed February 2026

The Mercers built their Cheat Lake home in 2017 — modern open plan, but the stairs had a 90-degree turn at the upper landing with a half-wall. Mr. Mercer needed a lift after knee replacement. We laser-measured the turn, bent the curved rail to match, and installed in 5 hours. The brown seat parks at the top floor, out of sight from the foyer.

Compact Straight Rail in Narrow Greenmont Home

Greenmont, WV Installed January 2026

Greenmont's 1910 frame houses have narrow staircases. The Baileys' home on Kingwood Street had just 30 inches of width and stone tile treads. We fitted a compact Bruno straight rail alongside a wooden sideboard at the base. Install took 4 hours — the rail hugs the wall tight. Mrs. Bailey uses it twice a day to get to her bedroom.

Outdoor

Weather-Sealed Outdoor Rail on Suncrest Porch Steps

Suncrest, WV Installed December 2025

Suncrest homes often have front-porch steps that ice over in Morgantown winters. The Hendersons had five flagstone steps from the driveway to their front door. Mr. Henderson couldn't manage the climb after his stroke. We installed a weather-sealed outdoor rail — IP55-rated, marine-grade finish. Three hours, no concrete work. He uses it every day, even in January.

Carpeted Straight Run in Woodburn Craftsman

Woodburn, WV Installed November 2025

The Wolfords' 1920s Craftsman in Woodburn had carpeted stairs — beige plush that matched our brown seat upholstery almost exactly. Fourteen-foot straight run, standard rise. We bolted through the carpet to the treads: no tear-out, no subfloor repair. Mrs. Wolford was riding the lift within 3 hours of our arrival. The seat parks near the tiled entry at the bottom.

Platform Lift

Indoor Wheelchair Platform in Sabraton Split-Level

Sabraton, WV Installed October 2025

Sabraton has many older split-levels where wheelchair access is the real concern. The Kowalski family's son uses a chair full-time. Their indoor staircase had 12 steps with a straight run. We installed an inclined platform lift — flat black deck, yellow safety edges, white handrail, 600-lb capacity. No structural changes. He rolls on at the bottom, rides up, and rolls off at the top.

Common Questions

Everything Morgantown Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Morgantown, WV?

A straight stairlift in Morgantown starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts, which need a custom-bent rail for turns or landings, start at $9,000. Outdoor models begin at $4,000 and include weather-sealed rails rated for Morgantown's freeze-thaw winters. Heavy-duty units rated for 600 lb start at $5,050. All prices include the in-home assessment, rail, seat, installation, and a 5-year warranty with lifetime rail coverage. Financing is available from $79/month.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more than straight ones?

A curved stairlift rail is custom-bent to your exact staircase geometry. Luis does a 1-hour laser measurement on site — every tread depth, every turn radius, every landing dimension gets recorded. The rail is then fabricated to match those measurements exactly. A straight rail comes in standard lengths and gets cut to fit on install day. That's the cost difference: factory fabrication versus off-the-shelf components.

Does insurance cover stairlift installation in West Virginia?

Medicare does not cover stairlifts. However, West Virginia's Aged and Disabled Waiver (ADW) — a 1915(c) HCBS Medicaid program — can cover home modifications including stairlifts for seniors at risk of nursing home placement. The WV Bureau of Senior Services also offers a Home Modification and Accessibility Grant of up to $3,000 for residents age 60+. Both programs require an assessment. We help with the paperwork at your in-home visit.

Are there hidden fees beyond the quoted stairlift price in Morgantown?

No. Our quote includes the in-home measurement, the rail, the seat, installation labor, and a 5-year warranty with lifetime rail coverage. The only additional cost is an optional service plan ($195/year) that covers annual maintenance and priority repair calls. We don't charge extra for weekend installs, removal of old lifts, or staircases with non-standard rise heights — all of which are common in Morgantown's older homes.

A word from Luis

I've installed lifts in just about every Morgantown neighborhood — from the tight staircase turns in Greenmont's old frame houses to the long straight runs in Suncrest split-levels. The biggest thing people don't think about: our hills. A lot of these homes have stairs that drop 12 to 14 feet floor to floor. That's a straight shot on paper, but every tread is a different height in these old houses. We measure each one.

Outdoor installs are common here too — those Star City and Evansdale yards have steep porch steps that ice over in January. The outdoor rail holds up to the freeze-thaw cycle. Battery backup matters: we get power outages during winter storms, and the 4Ah battery runs the lift for about 6 hours. Your mom can still get down to the kitchen.

For veterans, I always tell them: the Morgantown VA Clinic on West Run Road handles the HISA paperwork. $6,800 for service-connected, $2,000 otherwise. It's one-time, tax-free. We help you fill out VA Form 10-0103 at the assessment.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Morgantown's hills don't change, but how families handle them can. Whether you're in a South Park Victorian with a grand staircase that's become unmanageable, or a Cheat Lake rancher where the basement stairs are the problem, the fix is the same: a rail bolted to the treads, not the drywall. Most installs take about three hours. No construction crew, no permit delays — just a working lift by the afternoon.

Call for an in-home assessment. Luis comes out, measures your stairs tread-by-tread, and gives you a firm quote. Same day, no pressure. If the VA or ADW waiver will cover it, we walk you through the paperwork.
