Stairlift Service Across Allegheny County

Allegheny County, PA

Moon Township's neighborhoods tell the story of Allegheny County's oldest township. Mooncrest, built in 1943 for WWII defense workers, has narrow bungalow staircases — often 30 inches wide with steep rises. Woodland Ridge (off Thorn Run Road, 150+ homes) is mostly 1970s split-levels: two short stair runs instead of one long flight, so every install needs a two-rail quote. Bon Meade has mid-century colonials with classic 90-degree landing turns that call for curved rails. Carnot-Moon and Robin Hill mix ranches and newer builds — mostly straight flights, often carpeted. Near the Ohio River in Rivercrest, outdoor porch lifts need marine-grade sealing for river humidity and winter road salt.

Straight

Mooncrest Bungalow — Straight Rail on Original Hardwood

Mooncrest, PA Installed March 2026

The Kowalskis own a 1943 Mooncrest bungalow with original oak treads and a staircase barely 31 inches wide. Mrs. Kowalski, 78, had stopped using the second floor entirely after a hip fracture. Luis bolted a beige straight rail directly to the hardwood treads — no wall drilling. The seat parks at the bottom landing near the front door. Three hours from arrival to cleanup, and she was upstairs in her own bedroom that evening.

Bon Meade Colonial — Curved Rail at Upper Landing

Bon Meade, PA Installed January 2026

The Hendersons' mid-century colonial in Bon Meade has a classic 90-degree turn at the upper landing beneath a chandelier. Mr. Henderson, 82, could manage the lower straight portion but froze at the turn. Luis laser-measured the curve, and the custom-bent brown rail arrived two weeks later. The seat parks at the top floor hallway — out of the way of foot traffic.

Woodland Ridge Split-Level — Compact Stone-Tread Install

Woodland Ridge, PA Installed February 2026

The Russos' 1978 split-level in Woodland Ridge has stone-tread stairs leading from the family room to the kitchen — a tight space next to a wooden sideboard. Mrs. Russo, 76, needed access to the main floor without climbing. Luis installed a brown straight rail bolted into the stone treads, with the seat folding up beside the sideboard when not in use. The compact carriage fits the narrow 32-inch staircase without blocking the walkway.

Robin Hill Porch — Outdoor Lift with Marine-Grade Sealing

Robin Hill, PA Installed November 2025

The Callahans' Robin Hill home has a stone-paved front porch with six steps that iced over every winter. Mr. Callahan, 80, took one fall in January and the family called Luis the next week. The cream outdoor unit is IP55-rated with marine-grade coating for Ohio River humidity and Allegheny County road-salt exposure.

Carnot-Moon Ranch — Carpeted Stairs, Fast Install

Carnot-Moon, PA Installed April 2026

The Mitchells' Carnot-Moon ranch, built in 1985, has wall-to-wall beige carpet on a straight staircase with a tiled floor at the base. Mrs. Mitchell, 73, has arthritis that makes climbing painful. Luis installed a brown seat on a straight rail — the upholstery tone matched the carpet so closely the family joked it looked factory. The rail bolted through the carpet into the treads beneath. Three hours, no drywall work, no mess.

Platform Lift

Rivercrest Home — Indoor Wheelchair Platform Lift

Rivercrest, PA Installed May 2026

The Washingtons' Rivercrest home needed a solution for their son, who uses a wheelchair full-time. The indoor staircase — 14 steps, straight, white handrail — got an incline platform lift with a flat black deck and yellow safety edges. The platform carries up to 600 lb and folds against the wall when not in use. Luis ran the install in four hours, anchoring the rail to the treads.

Common Questions

Everything Moon Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Moon Township?

A straight rail starts at $2,800 installed. Curved rails — common in Moon's mid-century colonials with landing turns — start at $9,000. Outdoor units for porch or deck steps start at $4,000. Heavy-duty models rated to 600 lb start at $5,050. All prices include the assessment, the rail, the seat, installation, and a 5-year warranty. Financing runs $79/month. No hidden fees — the quote Luis gives you at the assessment is the price you pay.

Does Moon Township's split-level housing stock affect pricing?

Yes — and it's one of the first things we check. In neighborhoods like Woodland Ridge, split-levels often need two short straight rails instead of one long one. Each rail is quoted separately. So a Woodland Ridge split-level might run $5,600 total (two straight rails at $2,800 each) rather than a single $2,800 install. We tell you this at the assessment, not after the job starts.

Are there extra costs for a Moon Township install I should know about?

No. The assessment visit is free and takes about 45 minutes. The price quoted includes the rail, seat, installation, battery backup, and the first year of service calls. If your staircase needs a permit — rare for a stairlift that bolts to treads — we handle it and there's no upcharge. The only exception is if you choose a power swivel seat upgrade, which adds about $350.

How do Moon Township prices compare to the rest of Allegheny County?

Same pricing across the county. Whether you're in Moon Township, Sewickley, Coraopolis, or Robinson, a straight rail is $2,800 and a curved is $9,000. The only variable is whether your home needs a straight or curved rail, and that depends on your staircase — not your ZIP code.

A word from Luis

Moon Township's housing stock is all over the map — and I mean that literally. You've got Mooncrest bungalows from 1943 with staircases barely 30 inches wide, then Woodland Ridge split-levels from the seventies where you need two short rails instead of one long one. Then there's Bon Meade with mid-century colonials that have those tight 90-degree turns at the landing. I've put lifts into all of them.

The one thing that trips people up is the freeze-thaw cycle here. We get about 27 inches of snow a year and plenty of nights below 32° — that's why every outdoor unit we install near the Ohio River gets marine-grade sealing. Not because it's coastal, but because the river humidity and winter road-salt mix is hard on metal. I learned that the hard way about 12 years ago on a Robin Hill porch install. Now we spec it from day one.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Moon Township's 27,000 residents live in homes that span nearly a century of construction — from historic Mooncrest to new builds off University Boulevard. That range of staircase widths and geometries is exactly what our assessment covers in about 45 minutes at your home, no charge and no obligation.

Luis lives in Coraopolis, about five minutes from Moon Park. He knows which neighborhoods have the narrowest stairs, which HOAs require board approval before a rail goes in, and which VA clinic processes HISA paperwork fastest in Allegheny County. If your mom is struggling with the stairs in Mooncrest, Woodland Ridge, or anywhere else in the township, call (800) 965-0350 and set up a time for him to come out.
