Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Fairfax County

Fairfax County, VA

We install stairlifts throughout Merrifield and the surrounding Fairfax County communities. Mosaic District townhomes often have three levels of straight stairs — we fit the rail to narrow 32-inch staircases common in those units. Halstead Square and the apartment buildings near Dunn Loring Metro have carpeted stairwells where the rail bolts directly through to the treads. Over in Woodburn and Mantua, the 1960s split-levels and colonials frequently need curved rails for landings and mid-stair turns. Circle Woods townhouses have hardwood treads that take a straight rail cleanly. Cedar Lane and the neighborhoods south of Route 50 feature a mix of ranchers and expanded capes where outdoor stairlifts and platform lifts are common.

Straight

Straight Rail on Hardwood — Circle Woods Townhome

Circle Woods, VA Installed March 2026

The Meyers' townhome in Circle Woods has dark oak hardwood treads running from the main floor to the bedroom level. Mrs. Meyer, 78, had started avoiding the stairs in the evening — staying upstairs after 7pm rather than risk a trip down. Luis installed a beige straight-rail seat that parks at the bottom landing and blends with the neutral walls. The rail bolted directly to the oak treads — no wall brackets, no drywall patching.

Curved Rail at Upper Landing — Mantua Split-Level

Mantua, VA Installed January 2026

The Chens' 1968 split-level in Mantua has a 90-degree turn at the upper landing — classic mid-century layout with a half-wall and a small chandelier overhead. Mr. Chen had a stroke in late 2025 and couldn't manage the turn on foot anymore. Luis took a one-hour laser measurement, and the custom-bent rail arrived four weeks later. The brown seat parks at the top floor hallway, exactly at the landing.

Compact Straight Install — Woodburn Colonial

Woodburn, VA Installed February 2026

The Harris home in Woodburn is a compact 1960s colonial with stone-tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the bottom of the stairs. The staircase width is just 31 inches — tight, but workable. Luis used the slim-rail carriage, which folds the brown seat to 12 inches when parked, matching the sideboard's wood tone almost exactly. Because the treads are stone, the brackets used longer bolts with anchor inserts rated for masonry.

Outdoor Porch Lift — Dunn Loring Woods Entry

Dunn Loring Woods, VA Installed April 2026

The Kowalskis' 1961 single-family home in Dunn Loring Woods has a stone-paved front porch with four steps up from the walkway. After Mr. Kowalski's knee replacement, those four steps became a daily obstacle. Luis installed a cream-colored outdoor stairlift rated IP55 — a weather-sealed rail and a UV-resistant seat cover.

Carpeted Stairs — Halstead Square Apartment

Halstead Square, VA Installed February 2026

The Nguyens' apartment in Halstead Square has beige carpeted stairs leading to the bedroom level, with tile flooring at the base. Mrs. Nguyen's father moved in from Richmond and struggled with the stairs from day one. Building management approved the install because the rail bolts to the treads underneath the carpet — no wall modifications, fully removable later.

Indoor Wheelchair Platform — Cedar Lane Rancher

Cedar Lane, VA Installed October 2025

The Davis home off Cedar Lane is an expanded rancher with a lower-level family room reached only by stairs. Their son uses a manual wheelchair and had been confined to the main floor since they moved in. Luis installed an inclined platform lift — a flat black deck with yellow safety edges, white handrails, and a folding ramp at the base.

Common Questions

Everything Merrifield Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Merrifield, Virginia?

A straight-rail stairlift in Merrifield runs from $2,800 installed. Curved rails — common in the split-levels and colonials in Mantua and Woodburn — start at $9,000 because each rail is custom-bent to your exact stair turn. Outdoor lifts for porch or stoop entries start at $4,000. Heavy-duty models with a 600 lb capacity start at $5,050. All prices include installation, the DC-battery backup, and the 5-year warranty. We also offer financing from $79/month.

Do Merrifield townhomes cost more for stairlift installation?

No — most Mosaic District and Circle Woods townhomes have straight staircases, which keep the cost at the base $2,800. The main variable is stair width. Some older townhome units have stairs as narrow as 30 inches; we can fit a rail there, but it requires the slim-rail chassis — still the same price. If your townhome has a landing turn, that moves you to a curved rail, which starts at $9,000.

Is there any maintenance cost after the stairlift is installed in Merrifield?

The stairlift itself is low-maintenance. The DC motor and battery are sealed units — no lubrication, no belts. We recommend a service check every 18-24 months, which runs about $150. The battery typically lasts 3-5 years and costs around $180 to replace. The rail and carriage are covered by the lifetime warranty, so there are no ongoing parts costs.

Does the $2,800 price include removal of the old stairlift if I have one?

Yes. If you have an existing stairlift — whether it's still working or not — we remove and dispose of it as part of the new installation at no extra charge. Takes about 30 minutes on install day. The $2,800 price is all-in for a standard straight install.

A word from Luis

Merrifield has changed a lot in the 12 years I've been installing stairlifts here. The Mosaic District brought in all those new townhomes with three-story layouts — we do a lot of straight-rail installs on those. Then you go over to Mantua or Woodburn and you're looking at split-levels and colonials from the 1960s, where the staircase turns at a landing. Curved rail, custom-measured, bent to the exact turn. Those take about an hour on-site with the laser template. The install itself is usually four hours.

The other thing about Merrifield is how many families have parents moving in with them. Grown kids buy a place near the Dunn Loring Metro, mom or dad comes to live with them, and suddenly those stairs are a problem. We do a lot of those calls — adult children in Halstead Square or Circle Woods whose parent can't manage the second floor anymore. I tell them the same thing every time: we bolt the rail to the treads, not the wall. No drywall repair, no painting, no mess. Three hours, plug it in, test it, done.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Merrifield sits at the crossroads of I-66 and the Beltway — you can be in DC in 20 minutes or out to Oakton in 10. That central location is why so many families put down roots here, and why we see a steady stream of homeowners looking for stairlift help as parents age. The housing stock runs from 1960s brick colonials to brand-new Mosaic District townhomes, and we've fitted rails in all of them.

If your mom or dad is struggling with the stairs in Merrifield, call us for a free assessment. Luis Ramírez runs every install in this area, and he'll tell you honestly what works and what doesn't — no push, no pressure. Same-week installation is usually available for straight-rail jobs.
