Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Los Angeles County

Los Angeles County, CA

We install stairlifts across every section of Manhattan Beach. In the Sand Section, most homes sit on narrow lots with straight staircases running two or three levels — the tall-skinny layout means a 14-to-18-foot rail mounted directly to hardwood treads, no wall work needed. The Tree Section has older 1940s and 1950s builds with wider staircases, often carpeted, and split-level layouts where a curved rail catches a half-landing turn. Hill Section homes range from original 1920s Craftsman bungalows with tight stairwells to newer custom builds with open oak staircases and 90-degree turns at the upper landing. Out in El Porto, the weather-sealed outdoor lifts handle salt-air exposure on porch entries and beach-access stairs.

Sand Section, CA Installed March 2026

Three-story tall-skinny on a 30-foot lot in the Sand Section, with a straight oak staircase running the full height of the house between Highland and The Strand. The cream seat parks at the bottom landing and folds up to leave the staircase clear, carrying the homeowner from the garage level to the top floor.

Straight Lift on Stone Treads — Tree Section Beach Cottage

Tree Section, CA Installed January 2026

Compact 1940s beach cottage in the Tree Section near Pacific Elementary, with a staircase narrower than modern code — 32 inches between walls — stone-tile treads, and a wooden sideboard cabinet at the base. The brown-seat straight lift fits the tight stairwell without any wall damage; the rail bolts into the stone treads with specialized anchors. The seat parks at the bottom near the sideboard, folding to 12 inches from the wall when stowed.

Straight Lift on Carpeted Stairs — Manhattan Heights Mid-Century

Manhattan Heights, CA Installed December 2025

Mid-century two-story in Manhattan Heights with wall-to-wall carpeted stairs and tile flooring at the base landing. The brown upholstered seat matched the warm beige carpet tone, keeping the lift understated. The straight 14-foot rail bolted to the carpeted treads — the pile closed around the bolt points, leaving no visible marks. Lift installed in one morning so the homeowner's father could clear the barrier between living level and bedrooms.

Common Questions

Everything Manhattan Beach Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Manhattan Beach?

A straight stairlift starts at $2,800 installed. Curved stairlifts, which need a custom rail bent to your exact stair turn, start at $9,000. Outdoor lifts for El Porto or Sand Section exterior stairs start at $4,000. Heavy-duty lifts rated to 600 lb start at $5,050. All prices include the in-home measurement, rail, seat, installation, and a demo of how the lift works. We also offer financing from $79/month.

Are there extra costs for installing in a Manhattan Beach tall-skinny home?

No upcharge for the home style itself. A straight lift on a three-story tall-skinny in the Sand Section uses the same rail-length pricing as any other straight install — the cost depends on rail length, not number of floors. If the staircase has a landing or turn, that shifts it into curved-lift territory. Luis measures everything at the free in-home assessment and gives you a fixed number before any work starts.

Does Medicare cover stairlift costs in Manhattan Beach?

Medicare does not cover stairlifts — they classify them as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. However, Medi-Cal through the HCBA (Home and Community-Based Alternatives) Waiver can cover stairlifts when they're medically necessary to keep someone out of a nursing facility. We walk you through what that paperwork looks like at the assessment.

How does the HISA grant work for Manhattan Beach veterans?

The VA's Home Improvements and Structural Alterations (HISA) grant covers up to $6,800 for veterans with a service-connected disability, or up to $2,000 for non-service-connected veterans. It's a one-time, tax-free grant — never repaid. Your VA primary care provider at the Gardena VA Clinic (1149 W 190th St, about 5 miles east) or Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center in Long Beach (5901 E 7th St) writes the medical-necessity statement. We help with the paperwork.

A word from Luis

I've put lifts into just about every kind of home Manhattan Beach throws at you — the three-story tall-skinnies in the Sand Section where the staircase runs straight up the side of the house, the 1950s split-levels in the Tree Section with a half-wall at the top landing, the newer builds in Manhattan Village with wide oak treads and two full flights. What surprises people is how fast the install goes. On a straight Sand Section staircase, I'm usually out in under three hours. The rail bolts to the treads, not the wall. Drywall stays untouched.

The outdoor installs in El Porto are the ones where people ask the most questions — they worry about the salt air. The outdoor lift we use has IP55 sealing and a marine-grade rail; I've got one on a porch three blocks from the surf line that's been running five years with nothing more than a wipedown every few months. And for the Hill Section homes with a curved staircase and that turned landing — the laser measurement takes about an hour on site, then the custom rail ships in two weeks. Fits the turn exactly. Most of my customers here aren't moving. They love this city. The lift just means they can stay in the house they raised their kids in, and use the upstairs bedroom without worrying about the stairs.

— Luis Ramírez, Manhattan Beach
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Manhattan Beach homes are built vertical — that's the reality of a coastal city where land costs what it does. Three-story tall-skinnies, split-levels from the 1950s, walk-street beach cottages with a staircase up from the garage level. All of it means stairs, and stairs are what eventually makes a long-time resident think about leaving a house they've owned for 30 years. The lift changes that calculation. One morning of install work, and the upstairs isn't off-limits anymore.

If you're in the Sand Section, Tree Section, Hill Section, El Porto, Manhattan Heights, or anywhere else in the 90266 — call us or fill out the form. Luis comes out, measures, gives you a real number. No pressure, no pitch. Just a specific answer about what works in your house and what it costs.
