Stairlift Service Across Bibb County

Bibb County, GA

From the craftsman bungalow blocks of Vineville — where 1920s quarter-sawn oak treads and heart-pine banisters built by Neel Reid-era architects are still in daily use — to the Colonial Revival estates of Shirley Hills with their formal walnut staircases and 90-degree upper-landing turns, our team has mapped every staircase profile in Macon. We know which Beall’s Hill cottages south of Mercer have stone-capped treads from 2000s-era renovations requiring masonry anchors, which Cherokee Heights ranches have the thick shag carpet that needs longer anchor shanks to reach pine underneath, and which Ingleside Victorians near the Village shops have the vertical clearance for a full wheelchair platform lift. Because Macon-Bibb County consolidated in 2014, there’s one building department and one set of rules from downtown to the county line — no surprise jurisdictional handoffs mid-project.

Straight

Vineville craftsman — straight rail on original hardwood oak treads

Vineville, GA Installed March 2026

A 1924 craftsman bungalow on Vineville Avenue with the original quarter-sawn oak treads and a heart-pine banister the homeowner’s grandfather had installed when the house was built. Mrs. Tillman was clear from the first phone call: nothing touches the banister. We bolted a straight rail into the existing oak treads, ran the wiring flush along the stringer, and mounted the chair so it parks at the bottom landing against the wall. The entire rail is invisible from the front hall when the seat is folded.

1930 Shirley Hills Colonial Revival — curved rail at the upper landing turn

Shirley Hills, GA Installed February 2026

A 1930 Colonial Revival in Shirley Hills with a formal walnut staircase that takes a 90-degree turn at the upper landing before reaching the second-floor hallway. Mr. Henderson had both knees replaced at Atrium Health Navicent in downtown Macon and came home to a staircase he could not safely use. We laser-scanned the entire run during the first visit, fabricated a curved rail that carries from the foyer through the landing turn and delivers him onto the hallway floor with a swivel-exit seat. The rail threads past the original turned balusters without touching a single one.

Beall’s Hill cottage — straight rail on stone-trimmed interior stairs

Beall’s Hill, GA Installed January 2026

A renovated 1890s worker’s cottage in the Beall’s Hill neighborhood south of Mercer University, where the interior stairs had been rebuilt during a 2008 renovation with stone-capped treads and an iron pipe railing. The treads were solid but the stone caps meant standard wood-screw anchors wouldn’t hold. We used concrete anchors rated for the stone substrate, drilled pilot holes with a masonry bit to avoid cracking the caps, and ran a standard straight rail from the ground floor to the single upstairs bedroom.

Outdoor

Pleasant Hill raised porch — outdoor lift on stone paving entry steps

Pleasant Hill, GA Installed December 2025

A 1950s ranch in Pleasant Hill with a raised front porch and seven exterior stone-paved entry steps that became impassable for Mrs. Carter after a stroke left her with limited mobility on her right side. The stone pavers were set on a concrete pad, so we anchored the outdoor rail directly into the concrete substrate beneath the pavers using stainless hardware rated for Middle Georgia humidity. The motor housing is IP55-sealed, UV-coated for the long Macon summers, and the battery is heat-tested for the 100-degree days that kill standard lithium in two seasons.

Cherokee Heights ranch — straight rail on carpeted stairs

Cherokee Heights, GA Installed November 2025

A 1962 ranch in Cherokee Heights with fully carpeted stairs from the main level down to a finished basement where Mrs. Robinson keeps her sewing room and laundry. The carpet was original shag from a 1980s renovation, thick enough that standard tread bolts needed longer shanks to reach the wood substrate underneath. We pulled back the carpet edge at each anchor point, drilled into the pine treads below, and secured the rail through the carpet so the pile sits flush around each bracket. No carpet replacement needed.

Platform Lift

Ingleside Village Victorian — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Ingleside, GA Installed October 2025

A two-story Victorian near Ingleside Village where Mr. Lawson uses a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal cord injury. A standard seat lift was not an option — he needed to ride the chair itself between floors. We installed an enclosed indoor platform lift adjacent to the main staircase, with high-visibility yellow safety edges on the platform and upper landing gate per ADA guidelines. The lift runs on a vertical track bolted to the wall framing, carries 750 lbs including the chair, and locks at both levels with keyed controls.

Common Questions

Everything Macon Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Macon right now?

Straight rails for standard Macon homes — the Vineville craftsman bungalows, the Cherokee Heights ranches, the Beall’s Hill cottages — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for Shirley Hills colonials and any staircase with a landing turn run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor porch lifts sealed against Middle Georgia humidity run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and first service visit.

Are prices higher in Macon’s historic districts like Vineville or Shirley Hills?

Equipment prices are identical across Bibb County — we don’t mark up for a Shirley Hills address or a Vineville zip code. What can add a small labor line is historic-home-specific work: compensating rail mounts for foundation-settled treads in 1920s homes, using masonry anchors on renovated stone-cap stairs in Beall’s Hill, or preparing a Historic Preservation Commission certificate if your home sits inside the Vineville Historic District and exterior work is needed. We itemize every cost upfront.

Is a curved rail really twice the price of a straight?

It can be, because every curved rail is custom-manufactured from a laser scan of your staircase. No two curved rails are identical. The 1930s Colonial Revivals in Shirley Hills, the Ingleside two-stories, and any split-level with a mid-landing turn all require this fabrication. Straight rails are stocked in standard lengths and install the same day. If your staircase has no turns, no landings, and no bends, a straight rail is all you need — and that covers about 65% of Macon homes we measure.

My house is paid off but I’m on a fixed income. What are my realistic options in Macon?

Three paths, and we walk you through all of them at the kitchen table. First: Georgia’s EDWP waiver covers stairlifts as environmental modifications under a $10,000 lifetime cap — the entry point is the Middle Georgia Area Agency on Aging at 478-751-6160. Second: if you’re a veteran enrolled through the Carl Vinson VA system, the HISA grant covers up to $6,800 for service-connected disabilities. Third: we offer financing from $79/month with a soft credit pull that doesn’t touch your score. Many Macon families combine two of these. We present every option during the free assessment so you can choose the one that fits.

A word from Luis

Macon families usually call after a fall scare on a steep set of 1920s stairs — a slip on the original heart-pine treads in a Vineville craftsman, a parent who stopped going upstairs altogether in a Shirley Hills colonial, a grown daughter in Atlanta worried about her father alone in a Cherokee Heights ranch he built in 1965.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and hand you a written price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
