Bestseller

The workhorse of Lorain’s steel-era bungalows, postwar Cape Cods, and worker cottages. Over 70% of the stairlifts we install in Lorain County are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the battery backup keeps you moving through the next winter power outage. Every bracket ships hot-dip galvanized for Ohio’s freeze-thaw cycling. Most installs wrap in under four hours.

Starting at $2,450 installed

Stairlift Service Across Lorain County

Lorain County, OH

From the 1920s steel-worker bungalows of South Lorain — where narrow treads, original hardwood banisters, and steep flights are the norm — to the postwar Cape Cods and ranches of Oakwood Park with their raised entries and split-level stairwells, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in this city. North Lorain’s tight two-story stairwells require compact-profile rails. Charleston Village homes often have mid-landing turns that call for custom curved rails. South Side ranch properties frequently need lake-effect-rated outdoor hardware for their exterior concrete steps. We also serve Elyria, Amherst, Sheffield, Sheffield Lake, Vermilion, and South Amherst with the same 24-hour assessment window and no travel surcharge.

1928 South Lorain steel-worker bungalow — rail color-matched to original oak

South Lorain, OH Installed March 2026

A 1928 bungalow in South Lorain built during the steel boom, with original oak treads and a narrow stairway typical of the worker housing from that era. Mrs. Gonzalez’s daughter called from Columbus after her mother fell on the fourth step. We brought color samples, matched the rail finish to the original oak grain, and bolted the track into the treads without touching the banister. The galvanized bracket hardware handles Lorain’s freeze-thaw cycling, and the rail practically disappears against the original woodwork.

90° landing turn in a 1940s Charleston Village two-story

Charleston Village, OH Installed February 2026

A 1940s two-story in Charleston Village with a 90° turn at the upper landing and original maple millwork. A straight rail was impossible. We digitally scanned the staircase, custom-fabricated a curved rail that threads past the original newel post, and installed in a single afternoon. The chair parks flush at the upper landing and swivels 90° so Mrs. Perez steps off onto the hallway floor. The sealed motor housing handles the humidity that rolls in off Lake Erie every summer.

Stone-tread cottage in North Lorain — compact rail beside the family sideboard

North Lorain, OH Installed January 2026

A 1930s worker’s cottage in North Lorain with original stone-look tile treads and a cozy entry where the family sideboard and potted fern sit inches from the bottom step. Space was tight — the rail had to clear the cabinet without blocking the hallway. We mounted a slim-profile straight rail on the treads, added a folding footrest so the seat tucks flat against the wall when parked, and Mrs. Figueroa can still reach her sideboard and front door without squeezing past anything.

Lake-effect-rated outdoor rail for a South Side raised stone entry

South Side, OH Installed December 2025

A 1950s ranch on the South Side with a raised front porch and stone-paved entry steps fully exposed to Lake Erie weather. Mr. Kowalczyk is a veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103, the prescription came back in five weeks, and the lift was installed the week after. Every bracket is hot-dip galvanized, the motor housing is sealed against lake-effect freeze-thaw, and the cream-colored seat has held up through two months of sub-20°F nights without a service call.

Oakwood Park carpeted stairs — seat blends with carpet tones at the landing

Oakwood Park, OH Installed November 2025

A two-story Cape Cod in Oakwood Park with 13 carpeted treads and brown carpet that runs from the landing up to the bedrooms. The brown-upholstered seat blends right into the carpet tones so the lift almost disappears on the stairway. Mrs. Williams’s husband had fallen at the top landing the previous February during a power outage, so the battery backup was the deciding factor. The lift runs through outages, which in Lorain are a matter of when, not if.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform for a Sheffield Township split-entry

Sheffield Township, OH Installed October 2025

The Harris’s son uses a power wheelchair and needed access between the entry level and the main living area in their Sheffield Township split-entry — a half-flight of five steps that made the house completely inaccessible. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with yellow high-visibility safety edges, a fold-up deck when not in use, and a keyed call station at the lower landing. The Ohio PASSPORT waiver covered the full installation cost as an Environmental Accessibility Adaptation.

Common Questions

Everything Lorain Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Lorain County right now?

Straight rails in standard Lorain homes — the South Lorain bungalows, the Oakwood Park Cape Cods, the North Lorain two-stories — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for staircases with landings or turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised porches and exterior steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Lorain than Cleveland or Akron?

Equipment prices are the same across Ohio — we don’t inflate quotes by ZIP code. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original banisters in 1920s South Lorain homes, compensating rail mounts for century-old tread wear, and the occasional electrical upgrade in a pre-war bungalow still running a 60-amp panel. We tell you the line items upfront.

Does lake-effect exposure affect the price of an outdoor install?

No — every Lorain County outdoor install ships with galvanized brackets, stainless-steel fasteners, and a sealed IP55 motor housing as standard. Those are our Ohio lake-shore defaults, not upgrades. What lake-effect exposure does affect is the 12-month service schedule: outdoor installs within 2 miles of the Lake Erie shore get a mid-winter bracket and fastener inspection at no charge to catch freeze-thaw damage early.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30–40% off a new install — factory-reconditioned with new upholstery, new batteries, and a 2-year warranty. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never possible because each rail is custom-manufactured. If your Lorain home has a standard straight run, ask us about refurbished inventory during the assessment.

A word from Luis

Most Lorain families call me after winter has already made the problem impossible to ignore — a slip on the icy porch steps of a South Lorain steel-worker’s home, a parent who hasn’t been upstairs since the lake-effect snow started in November, a son calling from Columbus worried about his mother alone in a two-story on the north side.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
