Straight Stairlift

Most common · From $3,200

The standard for Adams and Hillcrest two-stories — and our slim-profile model fits the narrow historic staircases. Most Logan installs are straight-rail, a single run of 12 to 16 treads, usually carpeted, with a consistent rise. The motor is altitude-calibrated for 4,534 feet before it leaves our facility. For Adams and Wilson homes where stair width is under 30 inches, we carry a slim-profile rail that has cleared stairwells as narrow as 26 inches without touching the banister. Most installs wrap in under four hours.

Stairlift Service Across Cache County

Cache County, UT

The Adams neighborhood surrounding the Logan Temple is where our most careful installs happen — homes built between 1880 and 1930 with original fir treads, hand-turned newel posts, and staircases as narrow as 26 inches. We carry the slim-profile rail for these homes and bolt into treads only, never into historic millwork. Hillcrest and Cliffside feature mid-century brick ranches and split-levels where curved rails handle the landing turns. Wilson, straddling the Logan River, has a mix of older craftsman bungalows and newer builds with standard geometry. The Ellis and Woodruff neighborhoods are typically three-to-four-hour straight-rail installs with wider clearances. We serve all of Cache County with no travel surcharge — North Logan, Providence, Hyde Park, and River Heights are within the standard Logan service zone.

1912 Adams Victorian — slim-profile rail on original fir treads

Adams, UT Installed March 2026

A 1912 Victorian in the Adams neighborhood with a 26-inch-wide staircase and an original fir banister maintained for four generations. Mrs. Larson's daughter called from Salt Lake City after two companies said the staircase was too narrow. We arrived with the slim-profile rail and width gauges, confirmed 2.5 inches of clearance on the tight side, and bolted into the existing dark hardwood treads without touching the banister or wall plaster. The rail finish was color-matched to the aged fir grain.

Hillcrest split-level — curved rail around a 1960s faculty-home landing turn

Hillcrest, UT Installed February 2026

A 1963 split-level in Hillcrest that had been home to a USU engineering professor for 40 years. The 90-degree turn at the upper landing was the exact geometry a straight rail cannot handle. We laser-scanned the staircase and custom-fabricated a curved rail that bends around the half-wall at the top floor. The seat parks at the upper hallway so Professor Whitmore steps off directly onto the landing. He sent a follow-up note saying the motor was quieter than he expected at altitude.

Wilson cottage — compact rail beside the sideboard on stone-tile treads

Wilson, UT Installed January 2026

A 1940s cottage in the Wilson neighborhood with stone-tile treads and a narrow stairwell next to a wooden sideboard and potted plants. The Andersen family's elderly mother had moved in and the compact space left little room for a standard rail. We specified the slim-profile track, mounted it on the stone treads using masonry anchors, and positioned the seat to park next to the sideboard without blocking the hallway. The warm cottage feel of the home was unchanged after installation.

Woodruff porch entry — outdoor rail on stone-paved front steps

Woodruff, UT Installed October 2025

A Woodruff home with a raised front porch and nine stone-paved steps from the driveway to the entry. Logan's winter inversions trap cold air in the valley for weeks, and icy stone pavers had already caused one fall. We installed a weather-sealed outdoor rail with a cream-colored seat, stainless anchors into the stone paving, and a -30°F cold-pack battery. The covered porch protects the upper station, and the weather seal on the motor housing has held through a full Cache Valley winter without a service call.

Ellis home — straight rail on carpeted stairs with matching upholstery

Ellis, UT Installed December 2025

Mr. Christensen came home from Logan Regional Hospital after a hip replacement with a strict protocol: no stepping onto a stair tread when dismounting. His Ellis-neighborhood home has 14 carpeted treads at a landing with a tiled floor at the bottom. We mounted the rail through the carpet into the subfloor, matched the brown seat upholstery to the carpet tone, and installed a swivel-exit seat that rotates 90 degrees at the upper landing. His physical therapist reviewed the setup at the two-week follow-up and cleared it immediately.

Platform Lift

University District — inclined wheelchair platform for a veteran in a power chair

University District, UT Installed September 2025

Dr. Nielsen's father, a Cache Valley veteran who uses a power wheelchair, could not transfer to a seated stairlift. The University District home's indoor stairway needed a flat platform lift with high-visibility yellow safety edges and a white handrail — not a standard seat. We installed the inclined wheelchair platform on the indoor stairs with anti-slip surfacing and a keyed lock for safety. His wheelchair rolls directly onto the black platform and rides between floors without any transfer required.

Common Questions

Everything Logan Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Logan right now?

Straight rails in Logan homes run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails — common in Hillcrest split-levels and Adams homes with a landing turn — run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Every quote includes the altitude calibration for Logan's 4,534-foot elevation at no extra charge and is written and honored for 30 days. That covers installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are there extra charges for installing in a historic Adams-neighborhood home?

No. The assessment, the historic-preservation approach — slim rail profile, tread-only anchoring, color matching — and the banister protection protocol are all standard on every Adams and Wilson historic-home quote, not an upgrade. The only situation that can add cost is when a home requires our narrowest rail profile in combination with a curved run, and we tell you that on the first visit, not at delivery.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift cheaper in Logan?

Refurbished straight-rail units run $1,800 to $3,200 installed in Logan — roughly 30-40% less than new. We carry factory-reconditioned units with new upholstery, fresh batteries, and the same altitude calibration as new models. The rail is always new because every staircase is different. Refurbished curved rails are rare because each curved rail is custom-built to one specific staircase and cannot be reused elsewhere.

What does the quote include — any hidden fees?

The written quote covers the rail, seat unit, battery backup, installation labor, altitude calibration, and the first service visit. No travel surcharge anywhere in Cache County. The only scenario that adds cost is if your home needs a new dedicated 20-amp circuit — uncommon, but possible in 1910s-era homes with older wiring — and we identify that on the first visit before you sign anything.

A word from Luis

Logan is unlike any other Cache Valley city because you have Utah State University on one end and one of the oldest intact residential neighborhoods in northern Utah on the other — and both of them have staircases that require a very different approach. A 1910 Victorian in the Adams neighborhood has original fir treads and a banister that is not replaceable. A 1960s faculty house in Hillcrest has a split-level landing turn. A post-war bungalow near the university has 28-inch-wide stairs built for a smaller era.

I come to your Logan home within 24 hours, measure for the elevation at 4,534 feet, and give you a written quote you can hold for 30 days. No guesswork. No pressure.
