Stairlift Service Across Ulster County

Ulster County, NY

The Town of Lloyd stretches along the Hudson's western bank, anchored by the hamlet of Highland — a mix of 19th-century Victorians and mid-century ranches. Highland Landing, the historic riverfront district, holds some of the oldest homes in town, many with steep 1800s staircases. Baileys Gap, off Route 299 near the cider farms, sits on sloping terrain where curved rails are often needed. The ranches and colonials along the New Paltz Road corridor and near Tony Williams Park have standard straight flights. West in Clintondale, farmhouses and the occasional 1790s house show pre-code stair geometry. Along Vineyard Avenue, the Deyo stone houses from 1778 have tight, steep stairs that need custom rails.

Straight

Straight Rail on Dark Hardwood in Baileys Gap Farmhouse

Baileys Gap, NY Installed February 2026

The Connellys' farmhouse on Baileys Gap Road has dark oak treads walked on for over a century. The staircase runs a clean 14-foot straight flight from the living room to the second floor — no turns, no landings. Luis mounted the beige seat at the bottom landing, bolting the rail directly into the oak treads with no wall contact. The battery backup gives about 20 round trips during a Hudson Valley power outage.

Curved

Curved Rail at Upper Landing in Vineyard Avenue Victorian

Vineyard Avenue Historic District, NY Installed March 2026

The Harlows' Victorian on Vineyard Avenue has an 1890 staircase that narrows at the midpoint, then makes a tight 90-degree turn around a half-wall at the upper landing under a brass chandelier. Luis spent a full hour on the laser measurement, capturing every degree of the turn. The brown seat parks at the top floor, tucked against the half-wall. The curved rail took four weeks to fabricate and five hours to install.

Straight

Compact Straight Rail on Stone Treads in Clintondale Farmhouse

Clintondale, NY Installed January 2026

The DiNapolis' older farmhouse in Clintondale has a compact entry staircase with stone-look tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the base. The stairs are straight but short — 12 feet, 13 risers — with a tight turn from the front door that limits landing space. Luis mounted the brown seat at the bottom, angling the rail to clear the sideboard. The tile treads needed masonry-rated anchors, which added about 20 minutes to the install.

Outdoor Porch Lift on Stone Steps at Highland Landing

Highland Landing, NY Installed October 2025

The Russos' home near Bob Shepard Highland Landing Park has rough stone porch steps that turn slick with river mist and ice from November through March. The outdoor stairlift runs along the left side from the driveway to the covered porch. Luis used stainless steel anchors drilled into the stone and weather-sealed every electrical connection.

Carpeted Straight Rail in New Paltz Road Colonial

New Paltz Road, NY Installed April 2026

The Petersons' colonial off New Paltz Road has a textbook residential staircase: 13 beige-carpeted steps, 15-foot rail run, standard 7.5-inch rise. The brown seat matches the carpet tones almost exactly. Luis bolted the rail through the carpet and padding into the sub-treads beneath, so the carpet didn't bunch or tear.

Platform Lift

Indoor Wheelchair Platform Lift in Tony Williams Park Ranch

Tony Williams Park area, NY Installed March 2026

The Morrisons' son uses a manual wheelchair and needed to reach the bedroom level in their ranch near Tony Williams Park. Luis installed an inclined platform lift on the straight indoor staircase: a flat black deck with bright yellow safety edges, a white handrail on the wall side, and a folding ramp at the bottom. The platform carries up to 600 pounds and folds flat against the wall when not in use.

Common Questions

Everything Lloyd Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Lloyd, NY?

A straight stairlift in Lloyd starts at $2,800 installed. Curved rails start at $9,000 because each one is custom-bent to your staircase — common in the older homes along Vineyard Avenue and in Highland village. Outdoor units start at $4,000, and heavy-duty models (up to 600 lb) start at $5,050. Every quote includes the rail, seat, battery backup, installation, and a 5-year warranty plus lifetime rail coverage. We give you an exact number at the free in-home assessment.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more in Lloyd?

Curved rails are not off-the-shelf. Each one is fabricated to match your exact stair geometry after a 1-hour laser measurement in your home. In Lloyd, we commonly see 19th-century Victorians in Highland and stone houses on Vineyard Avenue with tight turns, variable-radius bends, and intermediate landings that require multi-section custom rails. The fabrication alone takes 3-4 weeks, and the install typically runs 4-6 hours. The result is a rail that follows your stairs exactly — no gaps, no wobble.

Is there financing available for a stairlift in Ulster County?

Yes — financing starts at $79/month with approved credit. Many Lloyd customers combine this with grant funding: the HISA grant covers up to $6,800 for service-connected veterans, and the NHTD (Nursing Home Transition and Diversion) Medicaid waiver covers environmental modifications for eligible New Yorkers. We help you stack these so your out-of-pocket cost is as low as possible.

Does the price include installation and the old stairlift removal?

Yes, the price you're quoted includes everything: the rail, seat, installation labor, battery backup, cleanup, and a walk-through demo with every family member who wants to learn how it works. If you're replacing an old stairlift, we remove and dispose of it at no extra charge. Most Lloyd installs take 2-4 hours for a straight rail, 4-6 for a curved.

A word from Luis

"Lloyd's housing stock is what makes this job different from other Hudson Valley towns. You'll find an 1820s stone house on Vineyard Avenue with a staircase so tight we have to custom-bend the rail in three dimensions, and then a mile away off New Paltz Road, it's a straight 14-foot install done in two hours. I've put stairlifts into Deyo-family homes where the treads are worn smooth from 200 years of use, and into ranches out near Tony Williams Park where the builder left exactly the right clearance. The one thing every install here shares: you're never more than ten minutes from a view of the Hudson. I live in Highland, and I treat every install like it's going into my neighbor's house — because half the time, it is."

"The NHTD waiver paperwork trips people up if they've never filed an E-Mod request before. I walk every client through it — two forms, a physician's statement, and a bid from us. For veterans, the HISA grant through the Kingston VA clinic on Frank Sottile Boulevard covers up to $6,800 if service-connected. Most of our Lloyd customers use a mix: HISA or NHTD plus the $79/month financing for the gap. We figure it out at the free assessment."

— Luis Ramírez, Lloyd
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Lloyd sits at a Hudson crossing that's been active since Anthony Yelverton ran a ferry here in 1754. Today the Mid-Hudson Bridge connects Highland to Poughkeepsie, and the Walkway Over the Hudson draws visitors from both banks. For a town of 11,000, Lloyd packs in a wide range of housing — 18th-century stone farmhouses, Victorian village homes in Highland, mid-century ranches off New Paltz Road, and farmhouses out in Clintondale. That variety means stairlift installs here are never cookie-cutter.

If your stairs feel like the one obstacle between you and a Hudson River view from your own bedroom, call for a free assessment. Luis measures in your home — usually the same week you call — and walks you through the New York funding options, from the NHTD waiver to the HISA grant for veterans. The Kingston VA Clinic at 101 Frank Sottile Boulevard processes HISA applications for Ulster County veterans. Or start with us — (845) 691-2144 — and we'll help sort it all out.
