Stairlift Service Across Lancaster County

Lancaster County, NE

From the 1910s bungalows of Near South — a Historic District with original hardwood stairs and Craftsman millwork — to the subdivision colonials of Highlands and Fallbrook, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in Lincoln. Havelock's foursquares have narrow second-floor stairs with low headroom, built for children's bedrooms a century ago. College View homes near Union College have 1920s Craftsman stairs with original oak banisters. Haymarket's converted lofts increasingly need mezzanine access. The newer subdivisions pushing south — SouthPointe, Fallbrook — have bonus-room staircases above garages that families forget about until surgery makes six steps feel impossible.

1918 Near South bungalow — rail matched to original Craftsman oak

Near South, NE Installed March 2026

A 1918 Craftsman bungalow in the Near South Historic District with original dark oak treads and a hand-turned banister. Mrs. Sorensen's daughter called from Denver after a fall on the third step. We brought rail-finish samples, matched the color to the century-old oak, and bolted the track into the treads without touching a single spindle. The beige seat sits at the bottom landing, ready to ride. The cold-rated battery ran through a -15°F week in January without interruption.

Curved

2005 SouthPointe colonial — curved rail sweeping around the upper landing

SouthPointe, NE Installed February 2026

A 2005 colonial in SouthPointe with an open-concept foyer and a staircase that curves around a half-wall at the upper landing. The Branhams wanted a solution that didn't make their home look institutional. We fabricated a custom curved rail that bends smoothly around the balustrade, parking the brown-upholstered seat at the top-floor hallway. A chandelier hangs above and framed art lines the wall — the lift blends into the modern interior. The Branhams host their UNL tailgate group every fall and nobody has mentioned it.

1924 Havelock foursquare — compact rail for narrow treads and low headroom

Havelock, NE Installed January 2026

A 1924 American Foursquare in Havelock with stone-like treads and a compact, traditional interior. Mr. Novak hadn't used the second floor in five months after hip surgery. A wooden sideboard with a potted plant sits at the base of the stairs — tight quarters that required our compact-profile rail. The brown-upholstered seat tucks close to the wall, and the straight rail runs the full length without crowding the narrow stairwell. He was upstairs before we finished cleaning up.

Outdoor

College View front entry — weather-sealed outdoor rail on stone paving

College View, NE Installed December 2025

A 1922 Craftsman near Union College with a raised front entry and rough natural stone paving at the porch level. The Jorgensens' father needed reliable access after a knee replacement, and the exterior stairs were the bottleneck. We mounted a cream-colored, weather-resistant seat on a straight outdoor rail, anchoring every bracket into the stone with tornado-rated hardware rated to 180 mph. The sealed motor housing handles Lincoln's Plains humidity and the cold-pack battery ran through a -15°F January without losing a ride.

Highlands two-story — straight rail on carpeted stairs with landing

Highlands, NE Installed November 2025

A 1998 home in the Highlands with carpeted stairs and a landing area at the midpoint. Mr. Peterson is a veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Lincoln VA clinic. The brown-upholstered seat matches the carpet tones almost exactly — a detail his wife appreciated. The straight rail bolts through the carpet into the tread wood beneath, and the seat parks at the landing with the tiled floor at the bottom just a few steps away. He rides it daily without thinking twice.

Platform Lift

Fallbrook subdivision — inclined wheelchair platform for post-surgery recovery

Fallbrook, NE Installed October 2025

A 2001 two-story in Fallbrook where Mr. Dixon needed second-floor access after knee replacement at Bryan Medical Center but could not transfer from his wheelchair to a standard seat. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift — a flat black anti-slip platform with bright yellow high-visibility safety edges and a white handrail — on the indoor stairway. The warm-toned walls frame the lift against a window at the landing. Mr. Dixon rolls his wheelchair directly onto the platform and rides to the upper floor without ever leaving the chair.

Common Questions

Everything Lincoln Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Lancaster County right now?

Straight rails in standard Lincoln homes — the Near South bungalows, the Havelock foursquares, the SouthPointe tract colonials — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, needed for College View Craftsmans with mid-landing turns and the occasional custom staircase in higher-end Highlands homes, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches and basement walk-outs run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, cold-rated battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Lincoln than Omaha?

Equipment prices are the same across Nebraska. Lincoln's housing stock actually makes installs slightly more affordable on average — the high proportion of standard straight-run staircases in the 1910s-1930s bungalows and the newer tract homes means fewer curved-rail installs, which is where cost escalates. We tell you the line items upfront. No surprise surcharges.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30-40% — we carry factory-reconditioned straight rails with new upholstery, new cold-rated batteries, and a 2-year warranty. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never an option. Important: in Lincoln's climate, we only sell refurbished units with the cold-weather battery spec rated to -20°F. A standard-battery refurbished unit won't survive the first Nebraska winter.

Any hidden fees for homes in older Lincoln neighborhoods?

Our quote covers everything: the rail, the seat, installation labor, cold-rated battery backup, tornado-rated outdoor anchoring (when applicable), and the first service visit. The only add-on we occasionally see in older neighborhoods — Near South, Havelock, College View — is a dedicated electrical circuit when the existing outlet can't handle the load. Common in pre-1940 homes with 60-amp service. If needed, it adds $200-$400 and is handled by our Nebraska-licensed electrician.

A word from Luis

Most Lincoln families call me after something has already happened — a fall on the hardwood stairs in a Near South bungalow, a parent who hasn't been upstairs in months in a Havelock two-story, a daughter in Omaha worried about her father in a College View home he's owned since the eighties.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
