Stairlift Service Across Sullivan County

Sullivan County, NY

The Village of Liberty core has older two-story homes off North and South Main Street, from the 1870s-1920s, with straight hardwood staircases typical of the Greek Revival and Gothic Revival housing stock. Ferndale, south along NY-52, has ranches and farmhouses where straight rails fit narrow runs. Swan Lake, southwest, has lakefront homes with tight-turn landings needing curved-rail measurement. Parksville, north along NY-17, has split-levels where an outdoor porch lift solves access in one shot. White Sulphur Springs, near the Neversink basin, has sloped-lot homes where stair geometry shifts with foundation settling. Up near Walnut Mountain Park, hillside cottages off Lake Street need either curved indoor rails or weather-sealed outdoor runs.

Straight

Straight Rail on Hardwood Stairs in the Liberty Village Core

Village Historic District, NY Installed March 2026

The Hendersons live in an 1892 Greek Revival on North Main Street with a straight 12-step oak staircase. Luis measured the tread width at 34 inches, confirmed a standard straight rail would fit without touching the original balusters, and bolted the track into the treads in three hours. The cream-upholstered seat parks at the bottom landing, blending with the warm wood tones of the hallway.

Curved Rail Around a 90° Upper Landing in Swan Lake

Swan Lake, NY Installed April 2026

The Rosens' lakefront home in Swan Lake has an open staircase that climbs to a half-wall landing before a 90-degree turn to the second floor. A chandelier above the landing ruled out a straight rail. Luis did a one-hour laser measurement and ordered a custom-bent curved rail that follows the turn tight to the wall. The brown seat parks at the upper landing in five hours of on-site work.

Compact Straight Install in a Ferndale Farmhouse

Ferndale, NY Installed February 2026

The Millers' 1920s Ferndale farmhouse has a compact layout with a stone-tread staircase and a wooden sideboard at the base. The stair width was only 31 inches, tight for any lift. Luis fitted a slim-rail model that left 19 inches of walking clearance beside the folded brown seat. The rail followed the stone treads without touching the cottage-style woodwork. Three and a half hours, start to finish.

Outdoor Porch Lift on Stone Steps in Parksville

Parksville, NY Installed November 2025

The Carters' raised ranch in Parksville has five rough-stone steps from the driveway to the front porch - slick with Catskills ice every winter. Luis installed a cream-upholstered outdoor stairlift with IP55 weather sealing, stainless-steel hardware, and a galvanized rail cover. The rail anchors to the stone treads with stainless bolts. After a full winter of snow, ice storms, and sub-zero nights, the unit has run without a single fault.

Carpeted Staircase Straight Lift Near Chestnut Street

Chestnut Street area, NY Installed July 2025

The Davises live in a 1960s two-story just off Chestnut Street with a fully carpeted staircase - beige pile carpet running from the tiled ground-floor entry all the way up. Luis installed a brown-upholstered straight lift that matched the carpet tone almost exactly, with the seat parked near the upper landing. The rail bolted through the carpet into the treads beneath - no cutting, no carpet replacement, three-hour install.

Indoor Wheelchair Platform Lift in White Sulphur Springs

White Sulphur Springs, NY Installed January 2026

The Kowalskis' son uses a power wheelchair full-time, and their White Sulphur Springs home has a straight indoor staircase with no option for a first-floor bedroom. Luis installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift - flat black deck, yellow safety edges, white handrail. The platform carries the wheelchair up to 600 pounds. The deck folds vertically against the wall when not in use, keeping the stairs clear.

Common Questions

Everything Liberty Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost in Liberty?

A straight stairlift in Liberty starts at $2,800 installed. That covers the rail, the seat, the battery backup, and the full install - usually about 3 hours. If your staircase is longer than 14 feet, you'll need extra rail at about $150 per additional foot. Most Village of Liberty homes with standard 12-step runs fall right at the base price. We give you a firm quote at the measurement visit, not a range.

How much is a curved stairlift in the Liberty area?

Curved stairlifts start at $9,000 and go up based on the number of turns and total rail length. Every curved rail is custom-bent to your staircase after a laser measurement. In Swan Lake and White Sulphur Springs, where a lot of homes have landings or wrap-around staircases, the final price depends on whether it's a single 90-degree turn or a more complex layout. The measurement visit gives you an exact number - no surprises.

Are there financing options for a stairlift in Sullivan County?

Yes. Financing starts at $79/month through our third-party lender. There's no prepayment penalty, and the application takes about 10 minutes. You'll know whether you're approved same-day. We also walk you through every funding program you might qualify for - the NHTD Medicaid Waiver, the VA HISA grant, and the Sullivan County RESTORE program for seniors administered by RUPCO.

Is there any free grant money for stairlifts in New York?

For veterans with a service-connected disability, the VA HISA grant pays up to $6,800 - enough to cover a straight stairlift entirely. For non-service-connected veterans, it's $2,000. On the Medicaid side, New York's NHTD (Nursing Home Transition and Diversion) Waiver covers stairlifts as a home modification for seniors and adults with physical disabilities - apply through your Medicaid care manager. Sullivan County also runs the RESTORE program, which gives seniors up to $20,000 for emergency home repairs including accessibility modifications.

A word from Luis

I've put stairlifts into homes all over the Town of Liberty - from the old Victorians on North Main Street to the lakefront places out in Swan Lake. The housing stock here tells you exactly what kind of install you're dealing with. Those 1870s village homes have beautiful straight hardwood staircases, but they're narrow - usually 32 to 36 inches across. In the hamlets like Ferndale and Parksville, you get a lot of ranches and split-levels from the 1960s and 70s, where the stair geometry is simpler but the access problem is the same: somebody can't get to the bedroom or the bathroom without help.

What surprises people is how fast the actual install goes. I measure, we order the rail, and three hours later the lift is bolted to the treads - not the wall. No drywall repair, no repainting. For the outdoor installs in places like White Sulphur Springs where the porch gets hammered by Catskills winters, we use weather-sealed IP55 units with stainless hardware and galvanized rail covers. The rail takes snow and ice just fine. I've never had a freeze-thaw cycle knock one out of alignment.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Liberty has been a crossroads town since 1807 - the Quickway brought the tourists, the Borscht Belt resorts put it on the map, and today it's a place where families stick around. The older housing stock means a lot of two-story layouts, and when climbing stairs stops being an option, the solution doesn't have to mean moving out of a home you've had for thirty years.

Call Luis at (845) 791-4936 or fill out the form up top. He'll come out to your place - anywhere in the Town of Liberty, any of the four hamlets - measure your stairs, and give you a firm number. Most installs happen inside a week of the measurement visit.
