Bolts into stair treads — never into the wall — the seat and footrest fold flush, and the 96-hour extended battery backup keeps you moving through the next grid outage. Stairlift Service Across Calcasieu County

Calcasieu County, LA

The Charpentier Historic District — 20 blocks of Victorian-era homes on the National Register since 1990 — has original longleaf-pine staircases where we bolt rails into treads and leave 130-year-old millwork untouched. Margaret Place runs along the lakefront with bungalows and craftsman homes featuring narrow landings and tight turns. Prien Lake and Country Club Acres have mid-century colonials where a standard straight rail handles most installs. In North Lake Charles, post-Laura rebuilds sit on higher piers with 8–10 exterior entry steps needing sealed outdoor rails. Moss Bluff, the unincorporated community north of town, is raised-foundation ranch country — front porch steps and outdoor installs are the norm. We also cover Sulphur, Westlake, Carlyss, Iowa, and DeRidder.

Straight

Prien Lake colonial — straight rail on dark hardwood treads

Prien Lake, LA Installed March 2026

A two-story colonial in the Prien Lake neighborhood with dark hardwood stair treads and an open-tread staircase leading to the upper bedrooms. Mr. Comeaux had a knee replacement scheduled at Christus Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital and wanted the lift operational before he came home. We bolted a straight rail directly into the hardwood treads, mounted the beige seat at the bottom landing where it parks out of the path to the front door, and the warm tones of the seat blend with the wood throughout the entry. He rode it home from surgery twelve days later without touching a single step.

1895 Charpentier Victorian — curved rail around a 90° upper landing

Charpentier Historic District, LA Installed February 2026

A Queen Anne Victorian in the Charpentier Historic District with an original longleaf-pine staircase and a tight 90-degree turn at the upper landing where the staircase bends around a half-wall before opening onto the upstairs hallway. We laser-scanned the entire run, fabricated a curved rail that follows the turn and parks the brown-upholstered seat at the top landing so Mrs. Fontenot steps off directly onto the hallway floor. The curved section threads past the balustrade and Eastlake spindles without grazing a single piece of the 130-year-old millwork. A chandelier hangs above the landing and framed family portraits line the wall — the lift fits the space as if the house were built for it.

Margaret Place bungalow — straight rail on refinished cypress treads

Margaret Place, LA Installed January 2026

A 1940s bungalow in Margaret Place — one of Lake Charles' most historic lakefront neighborhoods — with a compact stairwell, stone-tile treads, and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs that Mrs. LeBlanc refused to move. She spent two years rebuilding after Laura and had the cypress treads refinished as part of the restoration. We specified the slim-profile rail, mounted the brown-upholstered seat to park flush next to the sideboard at the bottom, and the traditional cottage feel of the home is preserved entirely. The 96-hour battery backup ran through a 2025 tropical storm warning without interruption.

North Lake Charles — outdoor lift on stone-paved post-Laura entry

North Lake Charles, LA Installed December 2025

A North Lake Charles home rebuilt in 2022 after Hurricane Laura destroyed the original structure. The new build sits on piers three feet higher than the old foundation — the front entry has rough stone paving and raised porch steps leading to the front door. Mr. Guillory is a Korean War-era veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Douglas Fournet VA Clinic on Gerstner Memorial Drive. We anchored an outdoor-rated rail into the stone paving, installed a cream weather-resistant seat with UV-stabilized upholstery, and sealed every component against the Southwest Louisiana humidity. The HISA grant covered $6,800 of the cost.

Country Club Acres — straight rail on carpeted stairs

Country Club Acres, LA Installed November 2025

A 1970s split-level in Country Club Acres with carpeted stairs, a landing at the midpoint, and brown-toned interiors throughout. Mrs. Richard has MS and had been sleeping in the den for over a year rather than attempt the stairs to the master bedroom. We installed a straight rail on the carpeted treads — the brown-upholstered seat blends with the carpet color so naturally it almost disappears. The swivel-exit seat at the top lets her step off onto the tiled hallway floor. She slept in her own bedroom the night of the install, and the grandchildren who visit every Sunday run right past the folded footrest without a second glance.

Platform Lift

Moss Bluff — indoor wheelchair platform lift for a paralyzed veteran

Moss Bluff, LA Installed October 2025

A raised-foundation ranch in Moss Bluff where Mr. Broussard — a veteran with a spinal cord injury — needed wheelchair access between the entry level and the main living area, a run of six steps along an indoor stairway with orange-painted walls and a window overlooking the property. A seated stairlift was not an option because he cannot transfer from his wheelchair. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip deck, yellow high-visibility safety edges, and a white handrail along the indoor stairway. The VA HISA grant through the Douglas Fournet Clinic covered $6,800. He rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides to the upper level without ever leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Lake Charles Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Lake Charles right now?

Straight rails in standard Calcasieu Parish homes — the Prien Lake colonials, the Margaret Place bungalows, the Moss Bluff ranches — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for Victorian L-turns in the Charpentier District or split-landing ranch homes, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised porches and post-Laura elevated entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, extended battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices higher because of hurricane damage or foundation settlement?

Equipment prices are the same across Louisiana regardless of storm history. What can vary is install labor for unusual conditions: shimming rail brackets to compensate for post-Laura tread settlement in North Lake Charles, reinforced anchor bolts for treads that flex after storm damage, or extended outdoor rail runs for homes rebuilt on higher piers. We tell you the exact line items during the assessment. No surprise storm damage surcharge.

Does the price include storm-rated battery backup?

Yes. Every Lake Charles install ships with an extended-capacity battery that runs 96 hours on a full charge. After Laura and Delta produced multi-week outages across Calcasieu Parish, we stopped treating extended backup as an upgrade and made it the Southwest Louisiana default. It is included in the quote price, not listed as an add-on. When the grid goes down — and in Southwest Louisiana, the question is when, not if — the lift keeps running.

Do you charge extra if my home is still mid-repair from Laura or Delta?

No surcharge for homes in active repair. We coordinate with your contractor if the staircase is being rebuilt and can install the rail as soon as treads are in place and the framing is inspected. If your stairs are structurally sound but cosmetically unfinished — exposed stringers, unpainted risers — we install on the structure as-is. You finish the cosmetics on your schedule.

A word from Luis

Most Lake Charles families call me after the stairs become the one part of the house that doesn't work anymore. A mother who stopped going upstairs after Hurricane Laura blew through and now sleeps on the couch rather than climb to a bedroom she used for 30 years. A veteran at the Douglas Fournet VA Clinic who has been putting off the conversation because he assumes the paperwork will take six months.

I drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and hand you a written quote honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. Every Calcasieu Parish install ships with an extended battery backup because we've learned the hard way that Southwest Louisiana grid outages last days, not hours.
