Stairlift Service Across Hudson County

Hudson County, NJ

Kearny's housing stock runs from pre-1920s two-family colonials in Arlington and the Manor Section — tight stairwells, hardwood treads, often 32 to 36 inches wide — to mid-century split-levels in the Kearny Uplands near Riverbank Park. The Hudson Pointe development off Passaic Avenue brought newer construction, but most homes here were built before 1960. Schuyler Avenue, Midland Avenue, and Devon Street corridors hold dense blocks of attached homes where curved-rail installs are common because of mid-stair landings and turns. We serve the whole town, from the Passaic River waterfront to the Belleville Turnpike corridor, and all of Hudson County.

Straight

Straight Rail on Original Hardwood — Manor Section Colonial

Manor Section, NJ Installed February 2026

1920s colonial on Midland Avenue with original oak treads — dark, well-maintained, 33 inches wide. The homeowner needed a lift for her mother, who had moved into the first-floor bedroom but couldn't reach the upstairs bathroom. Straight rail, 14 feet, bolted to the treads with no wall contact. The beige seat at the bottom landing matched the warm wood tones. Three hours, tested, demo'd, and her mother used it that same evening.

90° Curved Rail at Upper Landing — Arlington Two-Family

Arlington, NJ Installed March 2026

Pre-war two-family on Beech Street with a classic mid-stair landing and a 90-degree turn before the upper flight. The chandelier-lit stairwell had ornate trim the homeowner wanted untouched. Custom curved rail laser-measured on site, fabricated off-site, and installed in one morning. The brown seat parks at the upper landing, completely clear of the walkway. The homeowner's father now gets to his second-floor bedroom without help.

Straight

Compact Straight Install Near Furniture — Uplands Split-Level

Kearny Uplands, NJ Installed January 2026

1950s split-level near Riverbank Park with stone tile treads on the main staircase. A wooden sideboard sat near the bottom landing, and the homeowner was worried the lift would crowd it. The straight rail fit with room to spare — the seat folded to 13 inches when parked. The brown upholstery complemented the stonework and the existing furniture stayed exactly where it was.

Outdoor

Outdoor Porch Lift — Hudson Pointe Entry

Hudson Pointe, NJ Installed November 2025

Newer construction off Passaic Avenue with a four-step front entry of rough stone paving. The homeowner's mother-in-law moved in and couldn't manage the porch steps during wet or icy weather. Cream outdoor unit with IP55 weather sealing, marine-grade upholstery, and a sealed motor housing. Installed in late fall and ran through a full Kearny winter — snow, salt spray from the street, freeze-thaw cycles — without a single fault.

Carpeted Staircase Fit — Midland Avenue Colonial

Midland Avenue corridor, NJ Installed April 2026

1940s colonial with wall-to-wall carpeted stairs — beige plush that the homeowner wanted preserved. The brown seat at the carpeted landing matched the tones almost exactly. Standard straight install: rail bolted through the carpet into the treads below, no carpet damage beyond four small bolt holes per tread. Tiled floor at the base of the stairs. The homeowner's father had fallen twice on these stairs the previous year — hasn't happened since.

Platform Lift

Indoor Wheelchair Platform — South Kearny Residence

South Kearny, NJ Installed February 2026

The homeowner uses a wheelchair full-time and had been living entirely on the ground floor of a converted industrial-loft residence near the Passaic River. The indoor inclined platform lift — flat black deck with yellow safety edges, white handrail — now carries the wheelchair up a straight 16-foot staircase to the second floor. 600 lb capacity. The platform folds up when not in use.

Common Questions

Everything Kearny Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a stairlift cost in Kearny?

A straight stairlift starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts — which need custom rails bent to your stair geometry — start at $9,000. Outdoor units for Kearny porch and stoop stairs start at $4,000. Heavy-duty models with a 600 lb capacity start at $5,050. All prices include the assessment, delivery, installation, and a walk-through demo. Financing runs from $79/month.

Does the price include installation in my Kearny home?

Yes. The price covers everything: Luis comes out to measure your stairs in Arlington, the Manor Section, or wherever you are in town, then the rail ships, and our crew installs it — usually in 3 to 4 hours. The install includes bolting the rail to the treads, plugging the unit into a nearby outlet, testing every function, and walking you through the controls before we leave.

Are there any hidden fees for Kearny residents?

No. The quoted price includes the stairlift, the rail, the install labor, and the demo. There is no surcharge for older homes, narrow stairs, or split-level layouts — all common in Kearny. The only thing that could change the price is if your home requires a curved rail instead of a straight one, and we tell you that at the assessment before any work begins.

What financing is available for a stairlift in Kearny?

Financing starts at $79/month with approved credit. We also help Kearny families work through funding programs — the VA HISA grant covers up to $6,800 for qualifying veterans, New Jersey's MLTSS Medicaid program covers residential modifications including stairlifts for eligible members, and the JACC program provides up to $1,090/month per participant toward home accessibility improvements. We walk you through the paperwork at the assessment.

A word from Luis

I've put stairlifts into more Kearny two-families than I can count. The big thing here is stair width. A lot of the pre-1930s colonials in Arlington have staircases under 34 inches — tight, but we've done it. The curved-rail jobs usually come from the Manor Section, where you'll find those classic mid-stair landings with a 90-degree turn toward the second floor.

The Passaic River side of town, up in the Uplands, has split-levels from the '50s and '60s — wider stairs, but sometimes a half-flight to the kitchen that catches people. We did one on a Devon Street split-level last month where the homeowner had been using the main stairs fine but the kitchen steps were the problem. Three hours, straight rail, done. And Hudson Pointe is easier — newer construction with code-width stairs. But honestly, we can fit a rail on just about anything in this town. If your mom's house was built before 1960, which most were, we've probably done a house just like it within six blocks of you.

— Luis Ramírez, Kearny
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Kearny sits between the Passaic and Hackensack Rivers, about four miles north of Newark and ten miles from Manhattan. The housing stock tells the story: Clark Thread Company mill-worker homes from the 1880s, pre-war colonials, mid-century split-levels, and the new builds at Hudson Pointe. Each era left different stair geometries, and knowing those differences — before we arrive for the assessment — is what makes the install go fast.

If you're looking at Mom's stairs tonight and wondering whether a lift fits, call Luis at (201) 955-7400 or email [email protected]. He'll come out, measure, and tell you honestly what works and what it costs. No sales pitch — just a real assessment from someone who knows every block in this town.
