Straight Stairlift

The workhorse of Houston's two-story homes — from Bellaire ranches to Sugar Land colonials.

Over 65% of Houston installs are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts directly to your stair treads (never into the wall, never into the baseboard), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and our extended-capacity battery backup is spec'd for the week-long outages Houston saw during Beryl. Most installs wrap in 3 to 4 hours. Slab-on-grade, single stair run, ground to second floor — that's 90% of Houston houses and we have the routine dialed in.

Starting at $2,800 installed

Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Harris County

Harris County, TX

From raised pre-war bungalows in the Heights (those 6-to-8 step porches on 3-foot brick piers are our outdoor-lift hotspot — the original builders raised them because they knew Buffalo Bayou would flood, and 100 years later we're installing outdoor rails on the same front steps) to post-Harvey raised ranches in Meyerland and Bellaire (where the first floor was lifted 2-4 feet after 2017 and the new entry step count sometimes quintupled), we know what Houston housing stock actually looks like from the stairs up.

Inside the Loop, we work Montrose's mix of 1920s duplexes and new construction townhouses, Oak Forest's mid-century ranches with the occasional raised-pier retrofit, and River Oaks' older estates with curved banisters that need custom rail fabrication. Outside the Loop, we're regularly in Sugar Land (Fort Bend County, master-planned HOAs with architectural review), Katy (Cinco Ranch and the west suburbs), The Woodlands (Montgomery County, the toughest HOA approval process in the metro but Texas Property Code Chapter 202 has our back), Pearland, Spring, Cypress, and Kingwood. Each suburb gets a dedicated specialist so you're never waiting on a tech driving in from another county through Houston traffic.

1924 Heights bungalow — outdoor rail on 8 original pier-raised porch steps

The Heights, TX Installed March 2026

A 1924 Craftsman bungalow on a tree-shaded block of Harvard Street, sitting on the original brick piers 3-and-a-half feet off the ground — exactly the way the builder did it because he knew the 1929 flood was coming. Mrs. Kowalski walks the 8 front-porch steps with a cane now and the handrail is a century-old cypress plank. We installed a weather-sealed outdoor straight rail on the side of the porch, anchored into the concrete step stringer without touching the original wood, with UV-rated upholstery and a quick-release seat motor bracket for hurricane prep. The rail is painted to match the green trim. From the sidewalk you don't see it.

1928 Montrose duplex — 180° switchback rail past an original newel post

Montrose, TX Installed February 2026

A 1928 duplex on Hawthorne Street with a tight 180° switchback between the first and second floors — the kind of staircase that makes straight-rail salespeople pack up and leave. The original newel post is hand-turned oak and the family was clear nothing was getting touched. We laser-scanned the stairs on day one, custom-fabricated a curved rail that threads past the newel with 2 inches of clearance, and installed in a single afternoon. Mr. Ashworth rides from the ground floor to his second-floor study and the chair parks flush at the upper landing.

Post-Harvey raised Bellaire ranch — 13-step outdoor lift to the new front door

Bellaire, TX Installed January 2026

A 1968 Bellaire ranch off Rice Avenue, raised 4 feet on new piers after Harvey flooded the original slab in 2017. The pre-flood front entry had 2 steps. The post-retrofit entry has 13. Mrs. Nguyen's mother, 79, had basically stopped coming over because she couldn't climb them. We installed a straight outdoor rail along the length of the new entry stair, anchored into the concrete stringer, with a folding seat that tucks flat against the railing when parked. Abuelita came for Tet dinner three days after install.

Memorial home — 72-hour install for a Houston Methodist hip replacement discharge

Memorial, TX Installed December 2025

A call came in on a Tuesday afternoon: husband having bilateral hip replacement at Houston Methodist the next morning, discharge planned for Friday, two-story Memorial home with 15 carpeted stair treads and no way he was sleeping on the couch. We measured Wednesday, ordered the seat and rail Thursday morning, installed Friday at 11 AM, and he rode it up at 4 PM the same day straight from the TMC. Signed the paperwork from the seat at the top of the stairs. Classic Texas Medical Center rush install.

Sugar Land colonial — HOA-approved curved rail with Chapter 202 packet

Sugar Land, TX Installed November 2025

A two-story Sugar Land colonial in First Colony with a 90° turn at the upper landing and an architectural review committee that starts every conversation with 'no.' We prepared a Texas Property Code Chapter 202 accessibility packet — medical necessity letter, installation drawing, TDLR electrical license, COI — submitted it on a Monday, got approval on the following Friday. Install was the next Wednesday. Bilingual consultation throughout because Mrs. Gutierrez's mother, who lives with them, is Spanish-dominant. She rode it that same evening.

Platform Lift

Pearland — vertical platform lift for a wheelchair-using veteran, HISA-funded

Pearland, TX Installed October 2025

A Pearland ranch home with a 5-foot rise from the driveway to the front entry — a post-Harvey elevation that had left Sgt. Whitlow, a DeBakey VA patient with a service-connected spinal cord injury, essentially housebound. We pre-filled his VA Form 10-0103, the HISA coordinator at DeBakey approved the full $8,150, and we installed a vertical platform lift at the side of the house with a keyed call station, yellow high-visibility safety edges, and a weather-sealed motor housing. Zero out-of-pocket cost. He rolled onto it the same afternoon and has used it twice a day every day since.

Common Questions

Everything Houston Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Houston right now?

Straight rails in a standard two-story Houston home — Bellaire, Oak Forest, Sugar Land colonials — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for split-levels, Heights bungalows with landing turns, and older River Oaks estates run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact stair geometry. Outdoor lifts for raised-pier front porches in the Heights or post-Harvey raised ranches in Meyerland run $4,000 to $7,500 depending on rise. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes the rail, seat, battery backup, install labor, and the first service visit. No Houston premium, no "inside the Loop" surcharge.

We raised our Meyerland house 4 feet after Harvey. Now the front entry has 14 steps instead of 3. What are our options?

This is a retrofit we see constantly in Meyerland, Bellaire, and along Brays Bayou. The short answer: an outdoor straight rail or a vertical platform lift, depending on whether the person using it walks or uses a wheelchair. For walking users, a weather-sealed outdoor straight rail handles up to about 20 feet of rise easily. For wheelchair users we install a VPL at the side of the house with a keyed call station. Both get the standard Houston spec: battery backup rated for a week-long outage, UV upholstery, and a quick-release seat bracket so the motor can come inside before the next hurricane. Pricing runs $4,500 to $9,000 for the outdoor straight rail and $12,000 to $18,000 for the VPL, installed.

Is there a price difference between inside the Loop and the suburbs?

No. Our written Houston quote covers all of Harris and Fort Bend counties — the Heights, Montrose, Midtown, and River Oaks inside the Loop carry the same price as Sugar Land, Pearland, Katy, The Woodlands, and Kingwood outside it. We staff dedicated specialists in each sub-market so there's no travel premium added to a Cypress or Friendswood job. The only variable is the type of installation: straight rail, curved rail, outdoor, or platform lift. Stair geometry — not your ZIP code — drives the price.

Do you offer rentals for post-surgery recovery cases at the Texas Medical Center?

Yes. The Texas Medical Center post-surgery rush is a large share of our Houston business — hip and knee replacements from Memorial Hermann, Houston Methodist, and TIRR discharges that need a lift running by Friday but may only need it for 6 to 12 months. We offer a rental-to-purchase program: fixed monthly rate, full purchase credit applied if you decide to keep it, and we remove the rail at no charge if recovery goes as planned. Straight rails can typically be installed on 48 to 72 hours notice in Houston. Curved rails need fabrication time — we'll discuss a temporary straight option if the timeline is tight.

A word from Luis

Half my Houston calls start with the same sentence: "We just raised the house after Harvey and now Mom can't get up the front steps." The other half are post-surgery families from the Texas Medical Center who need a lift running before a Friday discharge.

My promise: on-site within 24 hours across Harris and Fort Bend counties, a written quote honored for 30 days, and a battery backup spec'd for a week-long outage because we all remember Beryl. Atendemos en español — es la mitad de mis llamadas.
