The Medi-Cal Home and Community-Based Alternatives (HCBA) Waiver is the one to start with — its Environmental Accessibility Adaptations category explicitly includes stair lifts, with no published dollar cap since it's approved case-by-case. Worth knowing up front: the waiver has hit its slot maximum in California, so there can be a waiting list. Call Medi-Cal at 1-800-300-1506 or apply through the HCBA waiver agency serving San Benito County via DHCS. The Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP), for residents 65 and up — about 10.7% of Hollister's population — can also fund minor home modifications, though the amount depends on the individual care plan.
