Expert Stairlift Installation in Gilroy, CA

Around Gilroy, it's usually a son or daughter calling to set up a stairlift for a parent, since Gilroy Unified is the town's biggest employer. I fit straight rails in the newer two-story homes out past the garlic fields, and curved rails near downtown's 1905 Old City Hall. Homeowners here own outright and want it done once, right; call and I'll measure for a firm number.

Straight

Miller Avenue corridor — straight rail on original hardwood treads

Miller Avenue Corridor, CA Installed March 2026

A 1962 two-story on Gilroy’s Miller Avenue corridor with original pine treads in solid shape. Mrs. Gutierrez’s daughter asked specifically that no finish be damaged. We bolted a straight rail into the tread nosings using precision pilot holes, color-matched the rail finish to the warm pine grain, and routed the charging cable behind the baseboard. The beige seat parks at the bottom landing next to the warm wood paneling. Mrs. Gutierrez was riding alone before we carried our tools to the truck.

Eagle Ridge hillside home — curved rail around a canyon-view landing

Eagle Ridge, CA Installed February 2026

An Eagle Ridge hillside home with a dramatic staircase that wraps around a canyon-view landing — the architectural detail that makes Eagle Ridge homes attractive and standard stairlift installs impossible. Mr. Moreno’s balance disorder made the turn the most dangerous part of his day. We laser-scanned the geometry, fabricated a custom curved rail that follows the full arc of the landing, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the upper level so he pivots to face the hallway before standing. The rail threads past the original wrought-iron balustrade without touching a single spindle. The chandelier above clears comfortably.

Christmas Hill cottage — compact straight rail beside the hallway sideboard

Christmas Hill, CA Installed January 2026

A 1954 Christmas Hill cottage with stone-tile treads and a narrow stairwell — the kind of compact traditional home built when Gilroy’s oldest residential streets were first laid out near the park. Mr. Torres’s wooden sideboard sits at the base of the stairs, inherited from his parents, and he refused to move it. We mounted the brown-upholstered seat on the compact-profile rail, positioned the lower park so the folded chair clears the sideboard by two inches, and bolted the rail into the stone treads with masonry-rated anchors. The cozy stairwell feels unchanged. His daughter said she barely notices the rail against the traditional woodwork.

South Gilroy raised entry — weather-sealed outdoor rail on stone-paved porch steps

South Gilroy, CA Installed December 2025

A South Gilroy single-family home built in the late 1980s with a raised front porch over rough natural stone paving — a common Gilroy layout from the period when the city’s southern neighborhoods were first platted. Mr. Ramirez’s knees had turned the front porch climb into a twice-daily ordeal. We anchored the outdoor rail into the stone paving with marine-grade stainless fasteners, mounted the cream-colored weather-sealed seat, and UV-coated the rail for Gilroy’s summer heat. The IP55 motor housing keeps dust and moisture out. Natural daylight from the covered porch entry floods the ride. No service calls since install.

Glen Loma Ranch — brown seat on carpeted stairs at the landing

Glen Loma Ranch, CA Installed November 2025

A Glen Loma Ranch townhome where the carpeted staircase runs from the tiled entry to the upper bedroom landing. Mrs. Park’s daughter called worried the carpet-covered treads wouldn’t hold a rail securely. We drilled through the carpet into the wood substructure, anchored every bracket into solid framing, and mounted the brown-upholstered seat that practically disappears against the carpet tones. The seat parks at the landing where the wall-mounted light switches sit, folds flat against the wall, and her family walks past it on the other side without squeezing. Quiet, clean, done before the school run.

Platform Lift

Princevalle — indoor wheelchair platform lift for a veteran who uses a power chair

Princevalle, CA Installed October 2025

Mr. Espinoza is a disabled veteran who uses a power wheelchair after a service-connected spinal injury. His Princevalle home has a half-flight between the main level and the upstairs bedrooms. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway with a flat black anti-slip deck and yellow high-visibility safety edges on all sides. The platform folds against the wall when not in use so his wife and grandchildren still walk the stairs normally. The VA Palo Alto processed his HISA grant in six weeks. He rolls onto the platform, rides to the upper hallway, and sleeps in his own bedroom every night.

Stairlift Service Across Santa Clara County

Santa Clara County, CA

From the open-tread curved staircases of Eagle Ridge — hillside homes above the Diablo Range foothills where every install is a custom geometry job — to the clean modern stairwells of Glen Loma Ranch new-builds along First Street and the established two-stories of the Miller Avenue corridor built in the 1950s–70s, our team knows Gilroy’s staircase patterns. We know which Christmas Hill tri-levels require multi-landing curved rails, which Princevalle and South Gilroy ranches have raised front entries for outdoor installs, and which Hecker Pass hillside homes need the longest curved-rail fabrication times in Santa Clara County. We also cover Morgan Hill, San Martin, and unincorporated areas along the 101 corridor — no separate trip fee.

Common Questions

Everything Gilroy Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost for a typical two-story home in Gilroy?

It depends mostly on whether your staircase is straight or curved — straight rail is the simpler, cheaper install, and curved rail costs more because the rail has to be custom-built to your exact stairs. Gilroy's newer subdivisions are almost all straight-run staircases, which keeps the job simpler than what I see on some of the older homes near downtown.

Are there financing or loan options for a stairlift in California?

Yes — FreedomTech is a state-run low-interest loan program for assistive technology, and a stairlift qualifies. Loans run $500 to $15,000, which covers most straight-rail installs outright and knocks a real dent in a curved-rail job.

Will Medicare or my regular health insurance pay for it?

Traditional Medicare doesn't cover stairlifts — it classifies them as a home modification, not durable medical equipment. If you're a veteran, that's different; see the funding section below.

A word from Luis
I've put lifts on staircases a block from the 1905 Old City Hall downtown, in buildings nearly as old as the 1857 Christian Church on Fifth Street, and I've put them in two-story production homes built in the last fifteen years out past the old garlic fields. Gilroy Unified is still the town's biggest employer, so a lot of my calls come from a working adult son or daughter setting this up for a parent, not the parent calling in themselves.
